The 30 Day Feature Film Challenge bring CLOSURE
How long does it take to make a movie? Six months in pre-production? Six weeks of shooting? Six years for a writer to dream it all up in the first place?
How about 30 days?
That’s the challenge a group of three young L.A. filmmakers have set for themselves. Their aim was to make a 90 minute feature film – from initial concept to end of production – in just one month. Start date, November 20th, 2009.
“We started with no money, we just wanted to see what favors we could pull, what contacts we could make, and see how far we could get. We decided we weren’t just going to sit around and wait for the economy to turn. We were sick of hearing about that.”
DOCUMENTING THE MADNESS
If you think making movies isn’t entirely the world’s most rational activity, prepare to have your prejudices reinforced. In November 2009, three young film makers decided to make their first feature-length movie. Not so unusual, even in today’s recession-hit Hollywood, but Marcin Teodoru, Tom Cole, and Aaron Grasso, decided to do it in only 30 days – starting with no script, no crew and no budget – just a crazy idea, and a ton of enthusiasm. Incredibly, they succeeded. All it took was a month of 18-24 hour days, scriptwriting sessions that ended moments before shooting, daily dramas and the enthusiastic support of over 70 industry professionals, offering their services simply out of passion for film. Follow the progress of Marcin, Tom and Aaron in this absorbing, frenetic, and occasionally hilarious documentary – filmed 24/7 as it unfolded organically.
