Skinwalkers (2006)

Skinwalkers: A B-Movie with a little bit more.
10 August 2007
Skinwalkers are actually from Navajo mythology. They are supposed to be people who put on the skin of animals and take on the attributes of said animal. Well, that's not really what "Skinwalkers" the movie is about. It's about werewolves who are in an argument that's been raging for centuries.

What if some werewolves didn't want to be werewolves and other werewolves loved being werewolves? That's the basic premise for this B-movie avalanche of gun fights and claws called "Skinwalkers." It starts off quickly and never stops moving. There's plenty of action and hot bodies and the occasional Werewolf wearing Levis. The cinematography is good and gives the movie nice a look especially in the night scenes. There's a huge battle at the end that is very fun.

Overall, I'd say this is not a great movie but fun enough to see it on the big screen. Also, they are giving away one of the Skinwalkers from the movie or something. That's cool.

Disappointed to say the least
13 July 2007
First of all I loved the last two Spiderman movies. So, I went to this very excited. What a complete let down.

I was so bored. Even with three villains they couldn't keep me paying attention.

The writers this time are the ones to blame. Please Hollywood, realize you need real writers in order to tell meaningful stories. Producers and Directors are not always good writers.

The dialog is so terribly melodramatic and unreal people in the audience were actually laughing when characters on screen were crying and revealing their innermost feelings.

Characters swung from one side to the other, from good to evil, just by hearing a couple of honest words or seeing the light that seemed to come from absolutely nowhere? Okay, the special effects were really good. They keep getting better and better. The Sandman's scenes were especially well done.

But what I loved about the last two movies was their integrity in regards to character motivations and emotions. This one just planted feelings on the surface and relied on whining and tears to emote.

Pretty good stupid fun movie.

I thought it was a great movie but had a terrible cast, the acting was terrible, but that doesn't really matter for a horror movie. This movie has the best two characters side-by-side (freddy and Jason), which is why I liked it, ironically we cheer on the serial killers, why? well, because they light up the screen with terrific acting and suspense-we actually feel happiness when we see a unique way of severing or death of a victim. The fight scenes were well done, but I wanted more, they should have fought in several different areas, which would have been more interesting, because really we don't care for the "kids", let them die! We just want Kruegar and Voorhees! Well I wanted to see Freddy and Jason just like they were in the 17 movies, and that's what was delivered. Sure the acting is terrible, and there are plot issues, but I think they did a great job with this interesting concept, it's unique and fun. But if you are too uptight about movies, then maybe you should pass on this one, because every "Scream" stereotype is used. I think if they had completely changed the cast of the kids I would have appreciated this movie more than I do now.

Great Horror Flick
23 May 2007
This is one of the better horror films to ever come from the mind of the man who wrote SCREAM and SCREAM 2. This film is actually a little scary and suspenseful at some parts. The film is not just another bloody slasher flick. This one actually has some dramatic moments and some steadily mounting terror to go along with it. I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER is somewhat based on the novel by Lois Duncan, but many, MANY things have been changed.

The cast includes Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillipe, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Muse Watson, Johnny Galecki, Anne Heche and Bridgette Wilson. The members of the cast are pretty well known and the horror is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat. We should probably thank Kevin Williamson for this one. I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER.

Stop and make you think

V for Vendetta was a great movie that really makes you stop and look at your surroundings.

I found the movie entertaining and the cinematography was top shelf. I thought "V" was a fun character and Natalie Portman once again shows her diversity as an actress.

Often times we can go to the movies and we are there for entertainment purposes, well this movie comes across as not only entertaining but thought provoking as well. With all that surrounds our current government it is hard not to draw parallels to V for Vendetta and any one who calls this movie a joke and worthless must have seen a different version than the one I saw. I would recommend this film to anyone who can appreciate a well written and directed film that will be seen in film classes for years to come.
