The Bear (2022)
The Bear-WOW.
Look I watched this because I had slightly heard of it. Once I started watching it I was Hooked. All the actors and their characters have depth, warmth, worthiness, humanity, life, and love. I didn't know the lead actor, the only one I recognized was the cousin whom I had just seen with Jennifer Lawrence, he had small part as the tow truck driver that comforted her when she was very down. He grabbed me with that moment. It was a highlight of that average movie. He equals that moment throughout these shows. All the actors do also and I mean them all. I am amazed how top level their acting is even in the slightest short moments, not just the warm loving moments which they do. I love the young black girl, I could, look up her name, but I want you to see this to find out. I loved when she encouraged the black Hispanic woman to an elevated level and they reached a meaningful point. I love the side characters just doing their jobs with Hope they will succeed. I so glad that they are so far. I have only seen the 1st yr and 3 episodes. I loved the hug and that chef. I am telling you without giving spoilers I hope in hope you can see this show. I loved this show and I am bingeing . Do yourself a favor, watch it and binge it with me.
Deadloch (2023)
Just Great Fun.
I had Such a good time watching this Aussie show. I only watched because I love Aussie humour and this had loads. The addition of lesbians, some stereotypes, weird townsfolk, lesbian police, odd men, and the typical mainland male police hierarchy with their comical dialogue made it wonderful experience. I had no idea it was going this much fun. The mystery was kept well hidden I didn't guess it. I did figure some but not the major. I hope you can get passed the accents I have no problem them. What a group of characters. I love the cursing. It was Great. The main two ladies were terrific as was their assistant. I hope you watch it.
Living (2022)
Living
Well as soon as I heard the premise of this film I said, it sounds like the "Ikiru", that and "the Seventh Seal" are two Best films I have ever seen. Sure enough it was a copy of it. Not just a copy but a wonderfully British version of it, in a the way British bureaucrats work which is very similar to their Japanese counterparts in the same period. I love the small subtle British touches this film is giving, as if drinking tea slowing, in a British garden while watching the film quietly. A feeling I am sure isn't even felt in England any longer today but surely was then, in its time. It captured the patience this man wanted to give in his last days. Did it measure up to the Japanese version and performance of original actor, almost 99%. Nothing will equal his quiet performance but Nighty's was memorable....
Clerks III (2022)
Clerks III The Final Chapter: A Tribute for the Actors and the Loving Fans.
And so the final chapter to Clerks trilogy has been made, a tribute to the actors we became so attached to and I am sure loved. At least in my case and I am 75. It brought all the pieces together and gave us a loving, comical look at what made the past lead into the present. It afforded the fans one last look at the story, characters and the actors who played a part from the beginning, interjecting parts that made the first film so amazingly funny and offbeat that we remember it as if it were yesterday, and one of the funniest films made, by actors none of us had ever seen at the time. The best part of the films were it made us feel we were in an actual convenience store watching the comical goings on firsthand. Look it's not academy award material but it's surely is entertaining. Randal and Dante. Silent Bob and Jay. The girlfriends, odd customers and funny off the wall dialogue are now so entwined it's hard to remember in which film we saw them first. So if you loved the first movie, you cannot let this one go unseen. Actually thank you for the films they were time well spent.
Space: 1999: Dragon's Domain (1975)
Dragon's Domain (TV Episode 1975)
The absolute best episode in the series. The Capt with nightmares was magnificent with his performance and pathos. You felt for him. You suffered with him. You wanted him vindicated. It's been many years since I saw this episode but I will never forget it. If you can see this one all involved were excellent.
Paradise Alley (1978)
The Second Best Stallone Movie.
Now I know critics have said otherwise but when you consider this was All Stallone,Star, writer, director sharing the spotlight and giving his co actors great parts to act with perfect dialogue, for the area and time period included with the fact it was his second movie of any consequence, it's amazing. Actually I don't think he's equaled it since. These magnificent characters out of a Damon Runyon era were portrayed wonderfully the atmosphere, the color, the lighting, the camera angles, the music, the movie, were perfect front rooftop beginning until the end. See, it deserves a bigger audience. The critics panned it out of jealousy for his Rocky success, they came out of him hard and unfairly.. It offers drama, comedy, tragedy, pathos, and family..
Night on Earth (1991)
So entertaining.
Each segment is perfect for the characters and their part. Terrific acting with reason and purpose. I enjoyed this film completely. I have to say it introduced me to Roberto. What an introduction I laughed so hard I had a side ache. It's worth seeing for him alone even with the subtitles. He's amazing he takes over the screen and never let's go .you may have to see this part over and over again because you're laughing so hard you miss parts. This made me a fan of his for life. So much so I watched , his greatest achievement ," Life is Beautiful.". I had decided not to watch Holocaust movies any longer after seeing, Sophie's Choice and Schindlers List. Too sad and half my family suffered from similar fate at the hands of turks.
Amazing Stories: Mummy Daddy (1985)
The mummy is a Daddy.
This was the best of the Amazing stories. A wonderful play on horror meets reality come to life with rednecks, attempted hanging, turnarounds and of course a little romance. With our poor protagonist being threatened by and angry lynch mob and the real mummy himself. Hilariously played by an actor we never will see and deserves the recognition. I loved it, my children back then were young and they loved it. A wonderful time.
The Bob Cummings Show (1955)
Love that Bob
Love that Bob, that's how we knew it. One of the first great comedy sitcoms. Just love at the cast and what they were and eventually became. I loved it It's memory came back to me on this day that Dwayne Hickman's passing was revealed. Innocent cute funny uncle playboy photographer of beautiful women with a secretary that longed for him and nephew who wanted to be him.
Nightmare Alley (2021)
Nightmare average
Remake of a Tyrone Power film noir movie that frankly was better even by today's standards. I was hoping DeToro would have offered something different.he didn't. I suspect 99% don't know it's a remake.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)
HOBBIT CONCLUSION
Perfect heroic ending with 5 great men and their people being lead against overwhelming odds with HOPE and LOVE leading the way. It is just the beginning of the end to Evil'S Reign with HOPE that this victory will lead GOOD over evil in the coming in the future. YES THE CGI is the major part and there is no equal. But the acting and passion the characters give in their performances are epic. I haven't seen any of them reach this level in their recent performances this will forever be the bar they need to reach.
The Hunt (2020)
Excellent Dark Comedy
Although I enjoyed this movie I do feel the writer got in more zingers against conservatives then liberals and that free speech is under duress by liberals in America, ( the woke, equity, cancel culture) groups that attacking free speech daily. Ask all the comedians. Anyway that's my feelings. Back this movie I really enjoyed Gilpin, she was terrific. As was everyone else, but it was her movie to carry and she did. I loved her mannerisms especially her turning her head and making her "ahuom" sound at dramatic poignant moments to make a point.
On the Rocks (2020)
Really a Fun time watching Murray andJones play off each other.
Really when is it a waste of time watching Bill Murray? Never he owns the screen and his audience. I read some of these viewer reviews and I wonder if you understand the art of his subtlety and how easy he's keeping the audience entertained. This was light enjoyable 1.5 hr. We won't have him or the likes him much longer enjoy him why you can and when he allows us. Sofia thanks.
Dune (1984)
The Problem with Dune.
Visually stunning but banal in the part portrayed. See this portion just doesn't stand on its own. For example the first three Star Wars movies, Lord of the Rings, and Hobbit all stand alone fine. We know there is more to come and they made us want to see it we couldn't wait, for some reason this one didn't. This section ended poorly, we know there is more to come because most have seen the original, Lynch movie but we are not given the wait til it comes anticipation feeling. The end was banal.
Bottle Shock (2008)
Bottle Shock Wonderful Movie!
Wonderful Movie set in my beautiful California that I love so much. It enhances with scenic views we all love of California and California Wine. It pleasures us with California frontiersmanship and wine. It gives views of California friendships Hispanic and White and wine. It presents us with comedy and wine. It allows us to see a wonderful ensemble cast and wine. It reveals a time period in California some of us were lucky to see and wine. Finally, we're privileged to see a magnificent and all too little last several conversations between Danial Farina and Alan Richman and the that wine was 1947 cabo blanc wine. The greatest WINE EVER.
Shithouse (2020)
Talented people
Very surprising, interesting characters meeting, for a small film. The film grows up as their life does, I imagine it's like when first going to college away from home. I liked the small things that slowly developed each part. I enjoyed him being chased and not caught. Punishment delivered comically.
