The Walking Dead: Rest in Peace (2022)
I WAS SO WRONG
I thought for sure that this finale was going to be bad. I thought it was going to be rushed and inconclusive. I was wrong. Sooooooo wrong. That was exactly what I wanted. Closure. So much closure. The acting was perfect. My god. I can't say anything better.
The ending was perfect. We are the ones who live. There are two types of fan-service, good and bad, and this was REALLY FREAKING GOOD!!!!!!!! I've spent the past month terrified for the ending. Terrified. Now all I can say is that I want more. Damn it Gimple. You've torn my heart out and beat me with it. I will watch any spin-off thrown my way outside of Tales and Fear (both are pretty bad tbh).
Thank you. I am a walking dead fan for life.
Ozark: A Hard Way to Go (2022)
Not perfect, but still a great ending.
Okay, it was rushed. The episode was not perfect. I'll give that to the fans who criticized it. It was unsatisfying, but what did you expect? Marty and Wendy weren't going to kill the Navarro cartel and die to the tune "Baby Blue". It was realistic. It was tragic. It was great.
The Langmore family scene was in my opinion the best part of the episode. The song will forever make me both happy and sad. It's one of those scenes that's just beauty hidden under ugliness. Russ playing the guitar, Cade grilling lunch, Wyatt sitting on the roof, all of it is the happiness that Ruth found in the hell that was her family. Honestly one of the few scenes in TV history that brought me to tears. And knowing that whatever happy life Ruth wanted would never happen is even sadder. Just a perfect scene.
The ending was also well written. We had to expect that living with those parents, having his head shaved by a mass murdering old woman, finding out what his mother did to his uncle, all of that was going to mess up Jonah forever.
Also, Marty and Co. Will forever be part of the cartel. The irony that the loss of their tyrannical leader putting somebody worse into the picture was fitting as well. They have no chance and with Ruth gone, they can't even leave.
The episode will forever be remembered fondly by me. Not as a perfect finale like Felina and Saul Gone managed to be, but as a realistic, tragic, and well written ending.
Fear the Walking Dead: Amina (2022)
Ugh
Of a the actors I never expected to see on Fear, Jonathan Banks is first place. His role in this episode was phenomenal. Playing an imaginary Travis Manawa was better for him than playing Mike on BrBa! Also, the twist of Morgan secretly kidnapping Madison before his arrival in Texas was just well done!
Okay real review.
Jesus. What were they thinking? Redeeming Strand was just a horrible idea. The guy racked up a bigger crime list than half the villains to ever appear on this show and Alicia just lets him go. And tells him that she loves him. Wow!
Also, did anybody else notice that the only reason Madison came back was because Alicia was leaving? Guess the fans aren't half as appreciated as previously thought. I hate the rabid dog this show has become. AMC, take inspiration from Old Yeller and put this show out of its misery already.
Better Call Saul: Plan and Execution (2022)
Never before
Has any episode of a tv show given me this much shock. My jaw was on the floor for at least a couple of hours after this episode ended. I knew it was going to be big, being a mid-season finale and all, but I never expected this.
The candle flicker as Lalo entered was just one of the best shots in this series. Simple and foreshadowing. Chuck died by fire, and now Howard dies not long after a shot of a fire. This series built up to this moment, and my god was it sad. Truly a phenomenal episode. Acting, directing, cinematography, everything.
Better Call Saul: Rock and Hard Place (2022)
Wow! Just wow!
Without spoiling anything, I can say that I haven't loved and episode of Saul this much since Chicanery. The acting is top-tier. I honestly am at a loss for words still. Vince Gilligan is an artist and this is his masterpiece.
Fear the Walking Dead: Follow Me (2022)
Boring and bad writing
Post apocalyptic Beethoven
Apparently bagpipes hold off dollar store Dwight pretty damn well.
Alicia believes that dreams are real now.
Good god this was bad. At least the first half was watchable.
Dead in the Water: A Fear the Walking Dead Story (2022)
First time in a while!
Walking dead is going downhill. We all know this. Every once in a while however, they give us some quality content. Dead in the Water was just perfect.
First of all, the intensity of it. While the walkers may have come back w but fast, I don't think anybody is going to shoot their own crew member just like that. The reason most characters died on their show was out of their own cluelessness.
Also, the Nukes scene was great. Should a man ever have to fire on his own country? The whole scene was just mentally intense.
But the best part for me came after they escaped the Sub. Riley on the shore listening to the death of his family, the broken look on his face after realizing that he has nothing, and the return of Teddy. The scene was just tragic. Realizing how evil he was on Fear in comparison to the broken man on here just shows how evil and manipulative Teddy is.
Not only did this Webisode improve my opinions on Teddy and Riley as characters, but it just made the whole of season 6B all that much better.
Final Destination (2000)
Good idea, bad execution.
I'm forgiving when it comes to my reviews of movies. I could have easily given this a 1/10, believe me I wanted to, but I overall liked the concept. This movie was just too cheesy. It was decent for a bit, I'll give it that much, but once the guy gets choked to death by the bathtub, I honestly lost interest. From them on it was people dying stupid ass deaths.
Honestly, I payed a buck for it so I really don't care, but this is not a movie I'd ever watch again. If you like cheesy action movies check it out, but if you actually want to watch a movie about the concept of life and death, just watch green mile or something.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Tarantino's best!
Up until this, I had never seen a single Tarantino movie, but oh my god do I regret waiting this long! Once upon a time in Hollywood is a phenomenal movie, particularly because of Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. I love the humor, the action, and especially the acting.
I will add one thing, I still haven't seen Pulp Fiction, (I plan on saving the best for last), so don't take my word right away that this is better. Up until I watched Kill Bill: Vol. 2, I never liked a single Tarantino flick more than this one. This movie had me laughing like crazy, but once I started reading more about it and all the things they put in, I watched it a second time and I loved it so much better. This is a 10/10 Tarantino that is probably only rivaled by one other.
Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)
Total Tarantino!
Definitely among my favorite of Tarantino's work, but not first place. Kill Bill was an amazing movie, and overall, I love the writing and action. Like most of his movies, I love the dark comedy. Personally, I do think there could have been some depth, especially as it gets closer to the end. The movie was mainly just a complete bloodbath. I didn't hate it at all though. It kept me on edge, and was just intense. Overall, I loved the story and humor.
9.5 out of 10.
Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004)
Tarantino at his finest!
To start off, I only started watching Tarantino movies recently, starting with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I still haven't seen Pulp Fiction, but I plan on saving the best for last with his movies I guess. I saw the first Kill Bill about a month ago. I really liked it. The first was intense, action packed, and well written, while keeping Tarantino's usual Dark Comedy. My one problem was that it didn't have enough depth. Not that that's bad, it just seemed to be a helluva lot of violence on top of violence as it went along. Kill Bill: Vol. 2 was a completely different story.
It was a perfect balance of Tarantino's Dark Comedy, with a dramatic plotline. Throughout the movie I was intrigued and didn't want to look away. I loved the acting, the writing, and the action packed Tarantino fight scenes, but my favorite part was the way the movie just throws you for a gut punch as it nears the end. This is my favorite Tarantino movie so far, alongside Hollywood.
Breaking Bad: Blood Money (2013)
Chilling
This is one of the best episodes of this show, no doubt. I always liked Dean Norris on this show, but he goes so above and beyond in this episode it's ridiculous. Hank and Walter's scene in the garage can only be described with one word: bone-chilling. Overall, the confrontation at the end was better than I could have ever pictured it.
The Walking Dead: Here's Negan (2021)
Fantastic
This may be one of the few episodes that made me tear up. Best episode of the season by far! JDM's acting is platinum level in this episode.
I Believe (2017)
Where were they going with this?
As a christian, I appreciate the plotline, but I hate the weird, bizzare ideas the filmmakers had. How the hell does a guys leg grow back? God may help a guy recover from an injury, by some miracle leaving that person in better condition than expected, but he does not regrow limbs.
Completely Unrehearsed Last Minute Pandemic Holiday Special (2020)
It gets better as it goes along.
I'll admit, Walter was not up to his usual standards. Bubba J overstayed his welcome. But Peanut and Achmed had me cackling. Give it a chance.
The Shining (1980)
Don't compare it to the book
The Kubrick version of the Shining was not the book. Jack Nicholson took the role of Jack Torrance to a whole new level. While it is not the level of the book, it is a different direction that Steven King would not have dared to go. Some Steven King movies simply just cut out minor plot lines, such as Pet Semetary, and it just doesn't work.
Let me start off by pointing out the major flaws of the book. Jack Torrance in the book, during his rampage reminds me less of an insane man and more of a clown with a hammer smacking himself in the face multiple times for a comedic reaction. Also, there are many unnecessary scenes such as his big search through the archives and the calls with Ullman and Shockley afterwards. A simple newspaper hidden in the files would have done just fine by itself rather than an entire boring chapter about this crap. Also, I misread one sentance in the book and thought that Danny was 15 rather than 5. The dialogue didn't really fit that of a five year old kid.
Now I will talk about the positives of the movie. As I mentioned before, Jack Nicholson did a great job playing an insane maniac. The kid seemed more like a kid. He did not use big ridiculous words that an adult would use as much as he did in the book. The movie also shows him being a regular kid with a bike and toys that he plays with. Wendy Torrance, I can take her or leave her. Halloran did a good job, despite having a smaller role.
The ghosts and the special effects were well done, and the intensity kept me on the edge of the couch the whole time I watched it. The "Here's Johnny" scene was awesome. The sudden drop into full insanity made a great impact on such a good movie. My only real complaint is Wendy Torrance. She did okay but she seemed to frail to be the character she was trying to play. But I can't complain too much since much of the movie was focused on Jack and Danny.
Final Opinion: 9.7/10. This is an example of a great horror movie. I absolutely refuse to ever watch the miniseries remake. Steven King did a great job on the book but Kubrick made a great movie as well and it is unfair to compare the two.
Inception (2010)
I don't get it
This movie is way too over the top for me. Leo Dicaprio is a good actor but this was not a movie of his that I enjoyed. I'm not going to say that I hated it, but it was way too much a "Smart Guy" movie. You have to keep track of so much. It is an insult to Hollywood that Inception made it to the top 25, and somehow The Revenant and Titanic didn't. Titanic is not my favorite movie, but it does deserve a top 250 ranking, as does the Revenant. Just like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind, this movie is one you have to keep track of, which is not something I enjoy particularly.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Did not need the casino
To me, The Last Jedi was awesome in theatres, less awesome on home release. Mainly, it was ruined by Canto Bight. I remember sitting in the theatre feeling a sense of dissapointment I somehow did not notice until we bought a home release of this movie. I'll go into that right now.
How the movie should have been fixed: The master codebreaker should have been Lando. I think the scene should have been played out where Finn and Rose actually manage to get to him without getting arrested. Lando is initially reluctant, claiming that he is too old to join any war. He also comments that Han and Leia can handle themselves. Finn suddenly says that Han is dead. Feeling remorse for Han, Lando changes his mind and says he'll be back with them soon.
Also, the casino police chase after them for being resistance fugitives rather than shuttle parkers in a illegal parking spot. And the casino itself looked like aliens dumped in a Las Vegas casino.I think they should have made it look more like Narr Shadaa from legends. And Luke also seemed like a grumpier version of Yoda. He should have been willing to train Rey.
Once Rey got to Snokes Destroyer, the movie got better, but the damage was already done. Good movie, but it was ruined by some of the scenes.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Who the hell hates this movie?!?
I went to the theatre with 5% less excitement than I had for Last Jedi. For me, a Star Wars fan since I was eight, that was a big deal for me. But I left the movie having felt a huge sense of relief. Episode IX was the greatest Star Wars movie since the originals. I don't have many negatives about this movie.
The Pros: Great special effects, an awesome and attention grabbing storyline, and seeing Chewie finally get his medal.
The cons: Some minor plot points were cut out, such as the kid from the end of Episode VIII and DJ (Benicio Del Toros character from Episode VIII). I also felt like the first 20 minutes were a bit rushed. It slowed down at the sinking sands scene, but that was a little bit too late. As I said above, minor problems, not enough to make me drop this from 10 too much.
Final rating: 9.5
1917 (2019)
What do I say?
I entered the movie thinking I was going to see another war movie. Another thousand bullets killing a hundred people. I entered with high expectations but low hopes. But I can't describe what I thought when I left. How can I?
I have only been moved by two other movies as much as this movie; Shawshank and The Revenant. I almost never feel emotion other than excitement over a movie. But this movie was one that no man can describe in less than one hundred words. This was the best war movie I have ever seen.
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Better than Episode I by a long shot.
This move has very little flaws. Nothing that was as bad as Episode I. He action was increased, the characters were tougher, and Yoda kicked ass against Dooku. Speaking of Dooku, I think that there is another sith out there that gave Maul a run for his money.
Positives. Geonosis. The entire battle was awesome. The clones were awesome and firece during their first battle against the Separatists who were also done pretty well with their newer droids. Yoda was also done better, as was Anakin, who now shows signs of Darth Vader through his Jedi attitude. Mace Windu was the best. Samuel L. Jackson had the perfect appearence and demeanor for the role.
Negatives. Jango Fett. Jango seemed less like Boba Fett from the original trilogy and more like clumsy old Jar-Jar from Phantom Menace. He was cool looking and had some tough looking weapons, but he seemed to be kind of a klutz. Also, there were a couple minor things I was not much for but overall they were small. This movie had it's ups and downs, but was still a good movie
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
Damn good try
Every Movie has it's positives and negatives. Episode I is no acception. But the movie is far from top 250. As an expert Star wars fan, allow me to explain why.
Positives. The main characters. Ewan McGregor was excellent in the role of young Obi-Wan. Liam Neeson was even better. But the best of all was Darth Maul. They made him so tough. And that double bladed lighsaber was badass!
Negatives. Story line. They could've easily shortened it down. By it, I mean Tatooine. Maybe they could have fixed Anikan by having him be a little bit older. Get rid of the "whoo hoo!" bit. Also, the worst of all, the screwed up, stoned, irritating, ugly as hell Jar-Jar Binks. I lose a brain cell with every new word describing how horrible his character is.
Overall, the film was not written well. But it is still okay. I reccomend checking it out.
Flightplan (2005)
Why all the hate?
This is a great movie. I don't get where the hate came from. Who the hell does hate this? I watched this from beginning to end and it kept my attention the whole time. Jodie Foster did as good a job in here as she did in Silence of the Lambs.
10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)
Better than 2008 for sure.
The 2008 Cloverfield was a great movie. Mistery, action, a little humor here and there, etc. My only problem with that one was the dark ending with the words that echoe around after I'm done, "I had a great day". This movie ends off with a little more hope. Sure the sci-fi was a little abrupt, but it was hinted at the whole movie, but sci-fi movies seem to be Abrams best work.
John Goodman played a damn good villain in this movie. He was mysterious, cold, yet sort of funny with his wierd personality. The chilling score that plays throughout the movie helps with the mystery as well. This was much better than the 2008 one in my opinion.
Snow Dogs (2002)
Great fricken movie
I'm sorry, but what the hell is wrong with those people who gave this a bad rating. I love this movie. Clean comedy, a small mystery plotline, and a pack of cute dogs. Who wouldn't like this movie.
