The Brooke Ellison Story (2004)
Inspirational and Moving
While I agree that Brooke's determination got her where she is today, her mother is phenomenal. God Blessed this young woman with an outstanding mother. While we all like to think would do it for our kids when you think about Jean Ellison's life it is extremely hard. She must get up at 4:00 AM every morning just to have Brooke ready to get out the door by 8:00 Am. She dresses, feeds and watches over her daughter all day everyday. With all the reality TV out there (really crappy TV at that, they should show what the life of Jean Ellison is like, instead of some bleached blond mobsters daughter. This is a woman who does not contribute to society at large, has no control over her very spoiled, rotten kids, gives them everything they want without lifting a finger, and the main reason she even had a show, was because her father was a mobster. How perverted is society? Jean Ellison and her husband and two other children (as well as the grandmother who contributed, while Jean stayed at school are worth hearing about. I am sure this woman has a special place in God's Kingdom. May he continue to bless her and her remarkable family.
A Friend to Die For (1994)
Two sides to EVERY Story
I watched this movie when it first came out on Lifetime. I have seen it several times since with my 5 daughters as they grew in age. I thought it carried an important message. When I first saw it my sympathies were with the character "Angela" and her parents.I was very popular in HS, but Never would I behaved the way "Stacy" acted. I was not brought up like that.In fact if myself or anyone in my "Group" saw someone being treated like that we were the first to help them, we would not add to the persons misery. As I started to watch it with my daughters (two very popular in HS,two in the middle group of HS and one who could care less about popularity) my perspective changed. In the movie "Stacy" real girl's name was Kristaen Costas I believe, there was not one redeeming quality about her. That's where the problem comes in.I am sure the real person probably acted on some kind of "bully" level, but there certainly were people who loved her, who she was friends with etc. How could they portray her as this evil witch? She was only 15,she was a kid.Kids change. I think it was unfair of them to portray her like that. Maybe that is how people saw my "popular" daughters, but some girls who are very confident don't realize at times they are being obnoxious, she was a kid, and I would be furious if my dead child was portrayed as a "harpie and a shrew" like this girl was. No one will ever know the beautiful woman she might have become, because the "less popular girl", Angela (real name Bernadette Protti) acted on a terrible impulse and ended her life.In the movie one agent says to the other about Angela "I almost feel sorry for her", and the other agent says "don't, feel sorry for the girl she murdered" True words. May the Costas have the peace that their daughter is in a better place. God Bless all involved with this tragedy.
Growing Up Gotti (2004)
Awful Show Awful Family
Several of the readers were on point. Whatever idiot and I do mean idiot thought up this show should be fired. A&E should be ashamed for ever airing this horrible show, although since they do a lot of shows about criminals I guess in a warped twisted way it fit in, only it tried to make this family acceptable. Victoria is not a good mother and to LIE about having BREAST CANCER is inexcusable, but the whole family is a bunch of liars. Grandad was a murderous hood, Grandma says he got framed (ask the family of that poor John Favello), Junior is on trial (AGAIN), her boys run wild and have no respect for her, she treats anyone who works for her like crap, she is almost 50, cut your hair, dye it back to the natural color, lose the tan(because you might really get cancer that way) and GROW UP!!!!
