Kill It: The Last Target (2019)
Season 1, Episode 12
3/10
Terrible ending to a show that had great potential
20 August 2023
All I have to say is, don't tease a romance between the two lead characters and do absolutely nothing with it and end the show like how this one did. The entire show was extremely hard to follow writing wise, I just watched for the dynamic between the male and female leads. They strongly hinted that there was romance countless times, but NOTHING happened.

This seems to be a trend in Asian media and I don't understand it. If you aren't going to follow through with a romance, why bother teasing the audience with it so strongly?

The chemistry between. Kim Soo Hyun and. Do Hyun Jin was.insanely good, and with the countless scenes of them staring at each other for an eternity with romantic music (the same music repeated over and over mind you) it's as if the writers were planning something to happen between them and then halfway through they changed their minds.

Absolutely disappointing execution when the foundation was really good.

C.B. Strike: Troubled Blood: Part 4 (2022)
Season 4, Episode 4
6/10
"You're my best friend"
23 December 2022
The only reason I am watching this show is the romance and relationship between Strike and Robin...without that, I would not be watching this whatsoever. The cases are longwinded, dull and sleep inducing.

So please stop teasing Strike and Robin, they have had so many moments where they could and should have made a move but it's become clear that their "will they won't they" phase is going to be milked to oblivion, probably because they know it's the only thing that is going to keep most viewers interested in watching.

Which is fair enough, but it's becoming unbelievable at this point. Their romantic and sexual tension is off the charts in every single scene, you can't keep that going forever, at least not in a believable fashion. My guess is that they will keep Strike and Robin sleeping around with others next season to prolong it further too...Not sure if I am willing to endure 90 percent boredom just for their moments together, even though they are an amazing couple with great chemistry.

Furthermore, the ending to this episode was pretty pathetic also. "You're my best friend..." Strike says to Robin as they both lovingly gaze in to each others eyes for the millionth time...give me a break. They are both single now, and clearly love each other very much and attracted to one another, so how long are you going to keep dragging it out?

Overall, not a bad season but 4 episodes per season are a joke. I wish they would have given the show it's own legs to stand on instead of going strictly by the books.

The Good Doctor: Carrots (2018)
Season 2, Episode 5
3/10
So much wrong with this episode
31 May 2022
I enjoy Good Doctor. Not every episode has been great (a lot of strong man hating and feminist messages in a lot of them) but I digress, it has it's good moments. This episode really bothers me.

Here we have a man who used to be like 370 pounds, had gastric bypass and somehow doesn't want his husband to know he was once obese...

For a medical show, that is a terrible storyline. The husband would be well aware that this guy was once that obese, because guess what? He would have a lot of loose skin. Everyone who gets to that point of obesity never gets to have a "normal" looking body again. They get saggy, loose wrinkly skin. Even if he got surgery to remove the excess skin, he would have scarring everywhere. Do the writers have no idea how extreme weight loss works?

Well take it from someone who was once obese and lost a whole bunch of weight, this is not even close to reality.

I am tired of movies and shows making it out like someone who was obese can just walk away unscathed and have a perfect body. A man who was once 370+ pounds would definitely have noticeable signs of that, and their partner would be well aware of it.

For a positive though, I am also on the spectrum and this show definitely represents that aspect extremely well, (FreddIe Highmore is extremely talented) so props for that at least. This episode is just a bad lemon.

Disappointing episode.

Outer Banks (2020– )
10/10
The kind of show I have longed for
26 August 2021
I can only speak for season 1 since that has all I have seen thus far, and according to most of the reviews season 2 is objectively awful...so this is just a season 1 review.

I love this show and have wanted something like this for a long time. It has everything I like, Action, drama, romance (really good romance too not just glossed over like most other romances) I really like the main characters and find them to all be very likeable and this has been such a fun watch and I really hope there will be more shows like this in the future (that hopefully don't lose their momentum like Outer Banks supposedly does in season 2)

There are a few problems though, mostly with how unrealistic a lot of it can be at times and also I wish they made the characters 18/19 instead of 16, as most of the cast are well beyond that age and it shows. Why does the cast always have to be so young if the actors are going to be much older?

Seriously though, I really want to see more shows like this that combine all of the good genre's and do it well.

Shadow and Bone (2021–2023)
7/10
Trying hard to enjoy it, and I partly am.
9 June 2021
As I am writing this review I am on episode 5, and I am really trying hard to enjoy what I am watching. Shadow and Bone has a lot going on in it. Too much I feel, because it shows a lot but hardly tells anything.

There are many different characters in Shadow and Bone all doing different things with clear and sometimes very unclear motivations, and it feels like you get to see what they are doing for all of 30 seconds before you are abruptly cut to another group of characters to see what they are doing for a minute, and then it cuts to another group of characters, and another...

See where I am going with this? It basically throws a lot in your face all the time but hasn't given me a chance to care about any of it since I haven't been given a fair chance to.

I will most likely watch it to the end of this season because there are parts of it I do enjoy, but this is a major gripe I am having with the show as I watch. Maybe Season 2 will fix the disjointed mess this season feels like...

A very solid anime that deserved more episodes (or another season)
8 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I think it's a crime that this anime has a total user rating of 6.5/10 (I've seen much worse get way better ratings in my opinion)... It had a very decent and entertaining story with charming enough characters (granted it could have done without the sexualization of certain characters who clearly haven't even hit puberty yet) and there was a lot of the typical unexplained plot points and we don't get to find out enough about the male MC Sagara's back story (he's pretty likable as is so I could forgive it this time) I really liked Nobuna as the female MC as well and her dynamic with Sagara was really sweet and touching and my only complaint was we never got the kiss that was built up to happen between them at the end (another common anime trope that needs to go) Overall I really enjoyed this anime and since it only has 12 episodes (sadly) it was a quick and entertaining binge but I really could've watched another 12+ episodes of it (there was also a pretty big hint of there being a season 2 at the end of the final episode, but it's obviously not happening since it's been 8 years and still nothing). This was also a rare time where I actually watched the sub since the dub sounded really awkward to me, and it actually enhanced my viewing experience since it is based on Japanese War History after all.

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom: Taiji (2009)
Season 1, Episode 24
Possibly the dumbest episode I've ever seen
5 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So Zwei and Cal had a showdown to the death just to end up having the conversation that could've (and shoud have) easily happened without the showdown resulting in Cal's death? And Zwei seemed so surprised when she was dying in his arms...yeah when you shoot someone with a gun that tends to happen, you think a cold blooded killer would know that by now. Really stupid.... This show had a lot of potential but really pissed it away on the last few episodes especially.

Dark Matter: Episode #1.3 (2015)
Season 1, Episode 3
One common theme I've noticed in ''Syfy'' shows
22 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've watched Killjoys (the first 2 seasons which were decent), The Magicians (which I thought was awful and couldn't even make it past season 1) and I'm now giving Dark Matter a shot. One thing I've noticed in all of these shows is how rushed the relationships/romances are (and are terribly paced). There's never a build up to any of them, no chemistry. They just get two people (usually the leads), maybe give them a tiny bit of tension between each other (if that), and before you can even start considering them as a romantic pairing, they kiss without any build up or reason to it.

I know this shows focus isn't even romance, but if you're going to include romances try to make them actually have meaning and some depth. ''One'' and Two'' should not have kissed this early on in episode 3, they haven't even known each other for that long or had any meaningful moments to justify a kiss yet. And the episode before this, One kissed another girl he had only just met. See where I'm going with this? I even hesitate ticking the ''yes'' box to this review containing spoilers because it was very predictable. Syfy loves quickly slamming the main leads of their shows together without any rhyme or reason

It's just rushed, forced and lazy writing. Try to actually add some depth and chemistry between a couple before you have them swallowing each others faces...besides that everything else about ''Dark Matter'' so far feels like your typical ''Syfy'' show, it's not great, but it's not terrible either. None of the characters are too likable but they aren't unlikable either. I think that's just a Syfy thing though, since they've always failed to make me care about any of the characters too much.

Only problem I had is that RJ Mitte's character speaks with an American accent when the movie is set in Australia and it's never once said that he's an American in the movie. Still a cute and heartwarming movie regardless.

Meh
20 February 2020
Was enjoying the show quite a lot until this episode. Matt and Karen have to be one of the worst pairings I've seen in a show ever. No chemistry there at all since the beginning except for Karen constantly drooling over Matt, feels rushed and shallow. I was expecting Karen to get with Foggy if anything since that's what season 1 set me up to believe and they both have really good chemistry, but Karen is clearly too shallow to date Foggy. Iron Fist is honestly better.

I no longer care
18 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is another prime example of why some ideas shouldn't be stretched along multiple seasons just for the sake of it. This should have been a mini series with a beginning, middle and an end. I no longer care about Maeve and Otis getting together as their relationship has been beaten and thrown around to death, I mean they barely even had any scenes together this season. Just keep bringing in pointless characters as obstacles for them and watch the ratings and viewers drop. Good job Netflix, you've done it again. I can't be bothered waiting another whole year or so just to see them repeat this again for potentially another few seasons.

These series need to learn to quit while they are ahead instead of milking everything all the time.

I really like this show, but they are dragging it way too far for the sake of making more seasons. Are Maeve and Otis just going to keep coming in to these ridiculous reasons to not get together until I don't know...maybe season 5? Feels like it.

I'm still enjoying it
6 December 2019
I agree with the people who say Shameless has gone downhill, it most certainly has compared to the first few seasons, but by no means is it terrible now. I still have a decent time watching it, though it is getting a bit ridiculous with the left-wing propaganda. It also feels much more cartoony than it used to, what happened to the dark gritty nature the first few seasons had while still having comedic moments?

Get rid of Lips girlfriend also, I really can't stand her.

Now both of my favorite characters Half Sack and Deputy Hale are both dead within 2 episodes. Why do the best characters always have to get killed off so early? Especially Deputy Hale, his character was strong and had lots more potential if he hadn't been killed off so soon. It should've been Stahl in his place...

Tramps (2016)
6/10
Nice romantic flick that could've been better
16 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Tramps is a cute little romantic film that could've been executed better in many ways, but especially the ending. That kiss made the whole movie feel like a waste of time, it was super awkward. I guess that was the point though...

The chemistry between the two leads was good but could've been a bit more fleshed out, a lot of their conversations were odd and they didn't learn or know much about each other at all to have set that good chemistry feeling between them. I guess there is only so much romantic development you can put in to an 83 minute movie....But a lot of the time there were dragged out shots of them just walking or not doing much, when it could've been spent building more chemistry.

You as the viewer also don't learn too much about any of the characters so it's a bit of a struggle to care for them . Even the lead characters. The lead female is stunning, however. The lead male also did a decent job too with the material he was provided.

The camera work was very nice with some pretty cool shots. The soundtrack was mediocre and sometimes just plain weird and didn't match the tone of the film at all.

Overall, worth the watch if you are out of romantic flicks. Just don't be expecting anything too deep or memorable here.

Into the Badlands (2015–2019)
7/10
Very entertaining but definitely has it's faults
7 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First things first, this show is pretty awesome in a lot of ways. The action is awesome, the scenery is breath taking and it has some really cool shots. My problem with this show is the writing for the most part.

Incoming rant, enjoy.

There are MANY plot holes and just really questionable writing a lot of the time. I have just finished season 2 and felt pretty disappointed with the seasons ending. It was really, REALLY dumb. For a highly trained and cold killer Sonny is terrible at making sure people are dead before he walks off from them. (Quinn getting impaled by a sword twice in a matter of minutes and still being alive was ridiculous too, just cut his damn head off!)

The relationships are also really muddy and poorly written between some of the characters, Specifically M.K and Tilda. At first they seemed like they were going to have a cute romantic arc in the first season, but as usual, they turned it in to an LGBT love triangle in season 2, because every show needs that apparently. Odessa is yet another forced plot wrecker that came between what could have been a nice relationship arc between M.K and Tilda for no reason besides making the show inclusive (ughhh). It is clear that Tilda has feelings for M.K, her face always lights up every time she sees him or hears his name, but hey just add in Odessa with whom Tilda has no chemistry with for the reasons I stated previously. Can no shows have straight romantic storylines anymore? (I mean without the girl having to be bisexual or something) I'm all for being inclusive, but don't do it in a way that disrupts what could've been a good plot just for the sake of being inclusive, that's not good. It just makes for muddy and forced material.

I only care for one character in the entire show at this point, and that is Baje. Baje is the one character I feel is decently written, the other characters are quite weirdly written or just don't have enough depth to them for me to care, which is also a bad thing. (The Widow is also quite a compelling character too)

Besides the sometimes lackluster writing the show is still very entertaining and worth watching. Just don't be expecting much character development or good romantic storylines here, because you will be quite disappointed if that's the case.

Pretty cool, however...
17 August 2019
The main character, Kai's actor (Iko Uwais) ruins this show big time with his mediocre ''acting''. He may be good at his stunts and fights, but seriously why not just get a good actor and hire a stuntman for all of the fights instead? Lewis Tan who plays ''Lu Xin Lee'' honestly should've gotten the lead role of Kai, as he can actually act. Everyone else can act on this show except for the lead role which is NEVER a good thing.

Warning: Spoilers
A bisexual/lesbian girl thing and it's getting really old. I don't really have anything against them but it feels like they always need to be forced in to everything. Casey didn't need to be bisexual or whatever. And for her to nearly cheat on Evan after what her Mom did and hated it so much? Please just stop adding these forced bisexual relationships in just because you want to be ''inclusive''. Every show is doing this and I was impressed this show wasn't doing it up until now. I did kinda predict it was going to happen though, because WHY wouldn't it?
