Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend (2022)
Shows need to evolve
When Iron Chef started in Japan, back in the 1990's, it was more of a "David and Goliath" type of show. But just as all long running shows need to evolve to be relevant, Iron Chef has evolved to more of an "Achilles vs. Hector" or "Batman vs. Superman!' Think of it this way, we don't want a Super Bowl of the worst in the NFL vs. The best in the NFL. All of the episodes were fun and exciting to watch. I think the Live Sturgeon episode was the best, it was very intense and a close score. And the Finale was also entertaining! Disclosure: I HATE to cook, but I do love good food. And every dish that I saw looked absolutely stunning. I would change one thing, never have a guest judge who is still learning how to make toast. Make the guest judge as least someone who knows how much work/experience/art goes into the dishes that were made. I hope Netflix makes a Season 2 of this new take on Iron Chef.
The Shack (2017)
Religion is NOT the point
Let's put aside all this criticizing of religion. While the movie is told from a "Christian" point of view, even the character playing Jesus states, "I am NOT a Christian." This movie is no more about converting a person to Christianity than THE GREY is about surviving a plane crash and the Alaskan wilderness. This movie is how we deal with such tragedy. My brother died of Leukemia when he was 4 and my parents carried that to their grave. When I was 18, a girlfriend died in car crash. How come God allowed this? He didn't, these things are part of living in our universe. No one ever said we are to be guarded from pain and suffering. But we do have the choice to REACT or RESPOND. If your Doctor says you are reacting to your medicine, it is bad but if she says you are RESPONDING to your medicine, you are on the mend. We can let pain be a "ball and chain" or we can use it to love deeper, care more and live life fuller. This movie has quality acting, emotional moments and thought provoking ideals. If you can learn even one thing from the movie, it has accomplished the Writers and Directors goal. Remember, "religion" is man made but "faith, hope and live" are God given!
