Mission: Impossible: The Widow (1967)
Season 2, Episode 1
10/10
One of the best episodes!
13 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Good morning Mr Phelps...and so begins Peter Graves outstanding run as team leader and mastermind of the Impossible Mission Force! And what a cracking great start! In my opinion, this is one of the best episodes of the entire series. The intricacies of the sting, the gadgets (the falling elevator con is awesome) and the split-second timing all work so well. If anyone would ever ask what this show was about or why it was so popular, I'd point them to this episode. "The Council" two-part episode would be a very close second. I really appreciate MeTv showing these episodes uncut. The broadcast quality is also excellent. Just my opinion again but the production quality from season two and onward is leaps and bounds better than the first season. Just a flat out fantastic start to the second season.

Under the Christmas Sky (2023 TV Movie)

It's a wonderful film about overcoming disabilities
28 October 2023
As someone who recently had an injury (eye stroke) that caused partial vision loss in my right eye, I can say that the depiction of Katz's eye injury is spot on. Her eye injury appears exactly like mine so it really lended an over all feeling that the director and FX department did their homework, not to mention the entire "science + Christmas" theme of the movie. My wife and I loved seeing two romances going on at once. The inclusion of a wheelchair bound daughter for Ryan Peavey gave us lumps in our throat several times. Such a sweet little actor! The overall plot was definitely out of the ordinary but that's what made the film so interesting. Not your typical Christmas rom-com but definitely worth watching!

I gave it a chance....

....I really wanted to like it but, IT'S SO BORING. At least the daughter isn't hanging around anymore. Raylin looks like a fish outta water. The story just can't decide what it wants to be. It's just bad. Is it a gritty ghetto crime story? Is it about a psycho killer? Is it about a crooked police department and lawyers on the take? Is it about an old skinny white Marshall sleeping with a lawyer half his age? Is it about a dad loosing touch with his rebellious daughter? It's all of these things rolled up with a weakly written script with very little action, a lot of boring dialogue and really bad location settings- dingy bar, lawyer office, bedroom. Rinse. Repeat. Let it end already.

M*A*S*H: As You Were (1974)
Season 2, Episode 20

It's not ground breaking but it's one of my favorite episodes
30 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A break from the flow of causalities has our boys looking to ease the boredom Frank Burns is lining up the condiments by size and popularity and Col Blake is taking the down time to give a lecture to the men on the dangers of STD's. Hawkeye and Trapper receive their mail order gorilla costumes. Frank is troubled by a ruptured hernia and along with Hot Lips, he goes to his bunk-mates to ask if they'll operate on him. Hawkeye examines him while in costume and it's one of my favorite MASH moments! Things soon return to "normal" and the unit is overrun with casualties amidst gettin shelled by our own guns. Lots of good to great moments and a few are truly laugh out loud hilarious.

M*A*S*H: Dear Dad, Again (1973)
Season 1, Episode 18

A funny and prophetic episode
28 April 2023
Hawkeye writes home to Dad again and his narration provides some comments that will prove very prophetic in the series finale. He mentions that without the jokes and sarcasm, he might end up in the boobyhatch. He also wonders how Father Maulchaney hasn't gone deaf from listening to the sound of all the commandments being broken around him. If you haven't watched the finale yet, you'll see what I mean. If you have seen it, then you know. It's a great episode and a solid 9 out of 10. The exchange between Hawkeye and Klinger in a wedding gown is priceless and Ferett Face getting hammered on Swamp-made gin shows how funny Frank Burns could be.

Another great episode
7 June 2022
But one little problem. Mark and his kidnapper is shown eating beans out of tin cans. That form of food preservation wouldn't have been available in the US at that time period. Also, the cans they are eating out of showed the lids still attached, bent back, but with clean-cut edges like you'd see from using an electric can opener. Hardly the edge you get from using a punch and tear type of early can opener that's similar to a GI can opener.

Great episode!

Lots of funny scenes. Klinger and Hawkeye are great as usual. BTW, the "Spaulding" who filled in for Col Blake was Capt Spaulding (credits), the singer played by the "Dead Skunk in The Middle Of The Road" guy :)
