Ryan Reynolds Killed Me (2021)
Confusing and sexist but fun
This is a very experimental film - can't really call it a film because it's presented as Twitter account's entries for a week.
A blond bimbo, evidently a white trash wannabe beauty pageant runner-up, is in love with Ryan Reynolds (who wouldn't be?) and does whatever it takes to make him notice her. Only - he probably doesn't.
In these days, there are two options to get media attention: MeToo or a suicide with the guarantee that fingers will be pointed at the one who didn't reciprocate your feelings. I was anticipating the film to take the first road and to make a serious statement, but there was a playful twist and... well, you better see it yourself.
Behind the Random Denominator (2017)
Dark and funny
I just saw this and I have to say, it took my breath away. You'll never guess the twist at the end. And there are some unexpected laughs and frights.
The Spring of Solitude (2019)
Smooth tale
Just saw this. It's a long short or a short feature, but it's now part of the anthology Eerie Fairy Tales. Smooth , I liked the magical locations, reminded me of The Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings, majestic forests and a sleepy little village. The final twist was both fun and spooky.
Pas devant les domestiques (2019)
'Damn unions!"
As a person who has sat through every episode of Poirot and Miss Marple, I can relate to the humor. It's a parody of a typical, ostentatious 'grand finale', where all the suspects are gathered in a lavish dining room and one by one masks are being torn down, until the culprits are revealed. The whole murder mystery is jammed into only 8 minutes, but it's extremely logical, makes perfect sense and could have been effortlessly stretched into a full hour episode. Everything else is screwball comedy with a classy twist. Don't even start watching this if you have never been a fan of old British detective TV - you just won't get it!
Padjaklubi (2014)
Pillow club
Made for young girls, but it's well written and the actors are very beautiful and good. Sometimes it becomes a kid show. Perhaps I'm getting too old.
