Beautiful Guys & Balls
9 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Excellent, I like to watch foreign films and this one was great. Yes clichés were used but these stereotypes of gay people do not overwhelm the movie. I love how the whole "gay" aspect of the movie is not exaggerated like in many American films I've seen. It's light-hearted, fun and something you can go "aww" about. And when Ecki (Eckhard) saves that penalty shoot, you are just urged to jump up and go "YES"! Beautiful The cast convinced me. The lighting was perfect. And the romance between Ecki and Sven; true-to-life. By the way. Sven (David Rott) is gorgeous!!!! I really recommend this film, as it seems many people connotate that soccer is just a mere "srtaights-game". Enjoy it.

Very Australian
28 August 2006
With the concept of what Australian is being challenged and revised in contemporary Australian society, this film hits home hard. A challenge for a connection with the great geography of the Australian landscape and an identity crisis. It reinforces the Aboriginal context of Australian history and the effects of what modern Aboriginality deals with. Fabulous movie! Emotive, raw and definitely Australian! 'Beneath Clouds' also captures the spirit of Australian youth and the mateship that had underpinned almost every friendship of every Australian. The Australian spirituality of inextricable connection to the land is also emphasised through the scenery filmed. A personal journey is also presented: beautiful, intimate and detailed. Though the characters share dissimilarity, it is the force that brings them together and reinforces the Australian notion of mateship, identity and spirituality.

Love knows no gender, beautiful..it broke my heart but made it flutter
21 February 2006
Wow! It's all I can really say. Ang Lee has done a great job on interpreting this short story onto the big screen. Beautiful performances by Jake Gyllenhaal, Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway. Being a gay person myself I understand what the two cowboys went through but the portrayal of this forbidden love affair, almost like a Romeo and Juliet but instead a Romeo and Julian (although only one of them passes away) is absolutely fabulous!! I cannot help but rave about this movie. The storyline is compelling although it caused me to cry (note: I never cry in movies) and caused much heartache it is such a beautiful movie. Everything about it is beautiful! I shouldn't rave on anymore, go and see it! To those of a homophobic nature, I stress the movie's tag-line "Love Is A Force Of Nature"!!!
