Meh
10 November 2019
I thought it was typical Thanksgiving fanfare, but I was slightly surprised. However, that wasn't enough to get over the bad acting. I support Tiffany Haddish and remember Ike Barinholtz from MadTv, however this just wasn't that great and was subpar from a comedic standpoint.

Good mix up
1 September 2019
This wasn't what I expected and I'm glad I actually watched. Not an Anna Kendrick fan, but this was a good movie with twists I wasn't expecting. I could predict them a bit as the movie progressed, but this was a nice mix of comedy and mystery. It's definitely refreshing considering how bland and cliche movies can be nowadays.

Underestimated
29 June 2019
I think people underestimated this movie. It had moments where it could have been better, but overall, I think it was a great movie. Even as someone half the age of the characters, it was still relatable. I think that's the takeaway; open up more and be able to see that you have flaws to overcome.

Awesome!
19 March 2019
Fast paced from the beginning. The entire story was building up to uncover the story of Griselda Blanco. Just keep in mind that this is a little bit older. Thought I was watching a documentary made in the 90s.

Unnoticed

Warning: Spoilers
I can admit I was lost during part of this, even with an economics degree, but made for a great source to do research. I feel like I completely missed this scam occurring between China and the US during and following the recession. It's absurd to think that this is still occurring and that some short investors think the government will do anything about it. It's quite obvious this scheme is not going to go away. I guess buyer beware.

Ready to fight
14 March 2019
I'm ready to fight so many adults defending Brandon. He killed someone and was being influenced by his toxic, white supremacist brother. Some of these adults just seemed like they didn't care about Larry because he was gay. I get it. He was young, but Jiminy Christmas, they thought 21 yrs was excessive. It was murder that was pretty much an execution. Overall, the doc was good, but jeez, some people just shouldn't be around kids.

Greatness

I had heard of Kusama, but did not realize her contributions to the art world. She is truly a hero and was ahead of her time.

Bizarre
13 March 2019
It was interesting to see the juxtaposition of these two families, but overall, I couldn't get over the spectacle people made over this case. Shannon whatever has some serious issues.

Pretty cut and dry
13 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This case was pretty cut and dry. I didn't know about it and it's mind boggling that the DA would go after a small bank that told on their own employees. But it was interesting to watch nonetheless and I was glad they were found innocent. Definitely shows how unfair some things are in this country for the bank giants that paid a fee and continue to commit crimes.

Wow!
11 March 2019
Probably one of the craziest documentaries I've ever watched. I feel bad for Charity, because it seems like she's caught in a twisted web of dysfunction. Hopefully there's some healing for her, but Jiminy Christmas, her oldest kid. The signs are there.

Struck a cord
10 March 2019
I had recently been in a FB argument with people judging Charlize Theron and her raising her son. They assumed she allowed her son got his way because he was dressed as a girl and she allowed it. I defended that her son was doing no harm to anyone, as a boy or girl and not every parent is going to treat their child the same. So I applaud Janae and her tenacity. It definitely cannot be easy and it was interesting to watch.

How Stella Got her Groove Back 2.0

It was alright. Never saw How Stella Got her Groove back, but I got the gist of it. That's what this felt like a bit.

How did I miss this?
10 March 2019
I feel like I missed a huge part of 2010-2012 since it's 2019 and I'm just now learning about this guy. I had heard of him before and some of the craziness surrounding him, but when you only hear bits and pieces, you don't really think about it. Good job on Nannette's part for delving into this, but I definitely feared for her. Great documentary that definitely hits home on the inequalities that exist in this world for the rich.

Good series
10 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Thought this was overall a good documentary. Definitely highlighted somethings I thought were eliminated by legalization and opened my eyes to the craziness up in Humboldt County. Sad to see they didn't have a follow up on the alleged murderer and the disappearance of Asha. Also a little annoyed by them jumping back and forth, but then I realized it would tie into modern times. Still wish it was a little more fluid. Definitely recommend it though.

Awful
7 March 2019
Between the dramatizations and graphics, this was a piss poor excuse for a documentary.

Jiminey Christmas
6 March 2019
This was excellent! I love a documentary that is able to hunt people down first of all. This was quite depressing once we get to the meat and potatoes of it, and I'm sorry that the triplets had to relive their trauma. I hope that they and the others can find solace.

Better than expected
2 February 2019
I wasn't sure where this was going, but I definitely liked the end result. I have a slight bias for Natasha Lyonne and Amy Poehler, but I must say Russian Doll kept it lively and gave a new perspective on life. It's fleeting, a theme talked about constantly, but this was refreshing.

Disappointed
2 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As with Bird Box, Velvet Buzzsaw left plenty to be desired. For one, it failed at suspense and horror and had me laughing for half the movie. It was different as far as the art "coming to life," but by the end, it felt like Final Destination. I should lower my expectations for Hulu and Netflix and stop expecting something decent considering the actors they hire. Netflix is starting to look like Vegas where actors go to retire.

Food for Thought
20 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This gave me food for thought. It definitely could have interviewed more people, as in maybe Europeans, where this is uncommon. Overall, not bad but the thing that burns my biscuits is at the end, hearing, "This is the human rights issue of the 21st century." Oh I'm sorry, are the people dying across the world in Myanmar, Yemen, Syria, and elsewhere to take a back seat to something that can be changed with a pamphlet? Even when she somewhat remedied her statement by just containing it to the US, there's still a problem. We have issues that are way bigger than this, that can be changed with education, occurring. Let me not diminish the argument or this film, but Jiminey Christmas. Alright doc, a few problematic people I could do without, including the pro-circumcision bloke from Australia and this woman that seems like she gave her life up for foreskin, but overall okay. Had the makings of so many other biased films with dramatic music. Unnecessary as well as some other pieces. I just need facts and knowing the US is the only industrialized country to do this is pretty much a huge selling point for parents to maybe have the discussion of not doing it.
