Scream (2022)
Same Old, Same Old.
The best bit was the actors reprising their roles from the first movie.
The worst bit was that they took the same script and tweaked it a bit and I just got pretty bored with it in all fairness.
The new Characters were shallow and I just wished they'd been offed quicker.
I'm in the minority on this I know, but as in the new Ghostbusters film, it just repeats what we've seen before.
Disappointed.
Manhunt (2019)
A very good standard crime drama
Fans of the original Manhunt series have waited eagerly for this follow up series and all indications are that it was worth the wait.
You do not need to have watched the first series to follow this but it's good so if you havent go back and watch that as well.
It is a slow burn and some do not warm to Clunes character but after a so so first episode. Eps 2 & 3 do liven up and if you are into police procedural dramas then this ticks most of the boxes. Ep 4 is not exactly an exciting climax but is in line with the rest of the series
Of course the usual proviso this is not a docu so expect some Dramatic license, but its all very restrained
It is a serious and interesting story and treats with respect the elderly victims it has to feature in such a harrowing series of events.
A very good standard crime drama not so much a thriller but not without its moments this true life crime drama.
Get Gone (2021)
Much worse low budget UK stuff out there
The acting from a fairly inexperienced group is ok and no worse than many lower budget British efforts and the characters are investible and the lead Alex Guildford sort of grows more on you as it progresses although not squeaky clean in all this himself.
Not the most original of story lines about fairly small time villains but interesting none the less and one or two twists.
A passable little low budget British Crime Drama
Getting It (2020)
Tom Heard is just annoying
From his opening song and annoyingly throughout Tom Heard was just a reason for me to dislike this film.
A nice story but you can tell this was written directed and starred Mr Heard and was just a vehicle for him to .... well sing annoyingly.
Pretty standard and samey to much better movies out there.
Secret Obsession (2019)
Predictable.
Had hopes for this Netflix production, but was just a poorer version of a "Lifetime" movie. High production values and Brenda Song is excellent but sadly let down by a predictable storyline that you hope holds a twist, but doesn't.
Cargo (2017)
Cracking addition to a well traveled genre.
Well produced and well acted Netflix/Aussie effort. Martin Freeman won'rt win any Oscars but is the guy you want to do well, so it is easy to get emotionally involved in his fight to keep his wife and daughter alive. Low budget but doesn't detract from the well told story with a couple of clever twists not seen in other "Zombie" style offerings. By the end I admit to being a bit of a wreck but don't miss it.
