Sorry but
19 September 2020
I really don't think this deserves its current IMDb rating of 8.1. No the story is not poorly told, the actings not terrible and the production isn't naff.

It's just bloody boring.

It would be better if it was about the murders rather than the investigation. I'm just waiting for it to finish at this stage.

Yeah you may adore David Tennant like most of these reviewers (I don't see what all the fuss is about myself) but he will not save you from the boredom.

Not exciting, not entertaining, barely engaging. Definitely not a thriller. This is a watershed drama about a moment in history.

4.5

Not bad at all I guess lol

This is a good and entertaining show, I really enjoy the works of Ryan Murphy and here he makes a strong, crisp and engaging production.

I do understand why people are saying the "Ryan Murphy-verse" is getting a bit samey same and I would say his best stuff to date is AHS and the Versace series but I would still recommend this. Was I slightly disappointed comparable to how much I was looking forward to this show? Well perhaps but I'd also say it is the best new release on Netflix at the moment too (patiently waiting for the Haunting of Bly Manor now). Also, the ending felt like it dwindled into a bit if a snooze albeit allowing plenty of interpretation for a second series.

Still love his stuff and enjoyed this a lot. But expectations are very VERY high. 7.

Ignore the S3 haters.
15 July 2020
Shame they're cancelling after S4. It's one of those stories that could just go and go if the writing is up to scratch.

Yes theres some musical numbers in S3 and I was quick to judge but it's really not that bad at all and no it's not a musical lol

Have seen this twice now
12 July 2020
And I was impressed the first time, the second time even more so. The build up felt shorter which was a pleasant surprise... But also the second time I was more freaked out. Dunno why. But yeah there's a couple of good jumps... But mostly it's the idea of the secret society. It all very plausible. A 9 for ingenuity

I just love it

Probably the funniest periodic drama I've seen. It's so heartfelt and entertaining and serious and perilous and funny and sad and to top it off a great love story.

Cruise and Kidman are brilliant. Nice run time as well. Great to cosy up to. It really is a journey to watch and enjoy.

I just bloody love it. Watch it.

Not bad at all, but...
8 June 2020
Solid low budget film. A lot of people saying steer well clear and I have to disagree. Unfair evaluations. One person has left a review after watching 15 minutes and then turning it off... I mean... really? Like I said... its low budget, but that doesnt make it a bad thing.

You have more and more questions and concerns growing as the film goes on and it does become quite creepy, not to mention the fact that this is a real-world, real-time issue in our modern society. The main character is easy to like regardless of her naive disposition.

However the ending doesnt answer many questions or even make much sense. Also the cops in the interview room are TERRIBLE actors. Some of the screen graphics are also poor but I'd depends how fussy you really want to be.

Not bad at all. I've wasted my time on much bigger, more popular and bigger budget stuff.

Watch it when you want a really nice, uplifting, real life story that will make you fall in love. Sunday evening when you're all cosy and relaxed.

Ruined by the production team's inability to fire people who are black. Brings the whole show into disrepute

Ruined...
14 January 2020
... by the annoying child who makes this show very difficult to watch. Poor acting, mediocre story at best, and unlikeable character which totally lets RuPaul down. Couldn't finish such a shame. Could've been great. RuPaul as fab as always but overshadowed by the human dementor that is AJ.

Ruined

By AJ. The story would be a lot better without the annoying kid. If it was just about rupaul and the narrative wasn't aimed at politically correct storylines about gender identity in children it would be a lot more interesting. The kid ruins the whole series. Unlikeable, uninteresting. RuPaul deserved more.

*American Horror Story meets Six Feet Under*
10 January 2020
The bad reviews have clearly been left by people who expect all the cheap cliche jumps and bumps of a Hollywood type movie, who are unable to follow plots that have flashbacks and breaks in the timeline and/or cannot fathom a remarkably well put together story because it is not always linear/ chronological.

This was my third attempt to watch this and I guess the first 2 times I just wasn't in the mood because man was I hooked by episode 2, hell yes, and I binge watched the whole thing!

The way they introduce the characters individually and slowly weave the story together is so clever... It has been really well made, the acting is on point and it is creepy and dark.

It's like American Horror Story meets Six Feet Under.

Watch it.

Bloody hell
6 January 2020
I was ready for the political science message in this film but wow. It was more like a horror movie! Nail biting and on the edge of my seat for a lot of it. God I hope this is a massive dramatisation of what it's really like to be black and blue in America (or other parts of the western world for that matter) but I'm not certain that it is. Awful situation to be in, theres not many likeable characters and you wouldn't want your worst enemy living in a place like that - well maybe.

Great watch, entertaining, good acting, felt all emotions from love to hate and anger and everything in-between. Raging at times. Would definitely recommend. Thriller, action all good.

Propaganda Vs Fiction
21 December 2019
Make no mistake, this is a good film. But it is also overshadowed by its leftists political bias, so you find yourself almost with two reviews.

The film itself is a great story, well made and acted. The main characters are very likeable and you can easily find yourself rooting for them and understanding them all regardless of their positions at the opposite ends of the spectrum.

Whilst this story can easily hold many real world truths for many people, it is a clear propoganda project... Which in such a sensitive time could easily ruin the viewing experience for those emotionally tied to current events if you do not side with the left. Whilst this is a heart warming and heart breaking story, it clearly has a political leaning in order to make a point which in real life may not be totally accurate, as the film does go to some length to suggest illegal immigration = victim/ good, and the British establishment = bad.

Due to its attempt to create a fact based story (which is in itself a good film) but with corrupting bias, it cannot be worth more than a 6.

Descent-ing
13 December 2019
Starts off promising, then comes a few cliche personalities, followed by a few naff FX..., next there's few stupid occurrences, and towards the end it's all just a bit dumb and silly. I'm not at the end yet but heard it's the worst part.

It's something to watch but it's not a must watch. I'm just sort of waiting for it to end and this stage.

Like a less offensive version of a lifetime movie. Maybe Netflix is running out of money, visually ok, acting ok, nothing really stands out as brilliant. It's all a bit meh.

Entertaining, funny, dystopian, serious, has a message, very real yet fictitious, visually sound and good acting (great cast).

What more does one need.

Goes in a different direction than you expect. Bit of a weird one. Feel indifferent to it but wouldn't not recommended it either. Feel like there is many messages and simultaneously no message at all. Good visuals and good acting though.

MUST MUST MUST SEE!

I don't often give a 10 but I simply have no complaints. This was an enthralling watch - even as I watched it with the subtitles! So smart. There were many angles and I'm not sure what the genre is. First the humour got me, then the characters got me, then the main plot got me, then the drama got me, the sadness got me and the horror got me. So entertaining, eyes peeled kind of stuff. You have no idea where its going to go. I found myself really rooting for the main characters and the topics are so relevant. Korean cinema - i am watching out for gems like this. Really, a clever, entertaining brilliant film. Watch it.

Ok, granted i'm only a few episodes in - but felt the need to warn people - hasn't earnt it's rating so far. Slow, poor script, visuals arent mind blowing. If it doesn't get better soon I will give up. Guess it depends on what you're looking for. I like this genre but it's not cutting it for me yet. If you want to give it a chance, beware you may feel like you've wasted your time like i currently do. Oh and the 3 laws of the bots are a total rip off of iRobot which speaks volumes.

A brilliant insight into the differences between working environments, staff expectations, rights and protections, USA vs China. It delves into the Chinese psyche to understand how the government dominates the workplace in contrast to America where the culture and freedom of expression are everything ... and what happens when you mix the two ideals together. The Chinese chairman and a team of his chinese workers work with the newly employed Americans at a Chinese-backed factory in Ohio. This shines the light on management approaches and opinions of workers unions, amongst other things and the different approaches both countries adopt as they try to work as one in the era of globalisation regardless of different outlooks and priorities.

Strong film. Why the low score?
15 July 2019
Not sure why such a low score. Well made, good acting, politically driven and undeniably believable in the real world. I enjoyed this as a Sunday night film, I was interested and enjoyed it. Sure... it didn't blow my mind, I was aghast at what I was witnessing, I wasn't bowled over eyes peeled on the edge of my seat. But it was entertaining and a strong film... certainly wasn't a waste of time or anything so negative. Would def. recommend as a drama, political thriller type. Good cast too.
