Malamaal Weekly (2006)
The New Laurel-n-Hardy !!!!!
At first i have to say that i have never laughed so much in my entire life in cinema...and i have watched and am a fan off all sorts off comedy from Tom and Jerry to Russell Peters Stand Up Comedy (Comedy Central) to the Ace Ventura (Carrey)....but i believe Indian Cinema has never had another Director as brilliant as Priyadarshan to make u go nuts......The Comedy in his movies never stops....one funny bone after another the story keeps hitting all the parts of our body that can laugh....
And Secondly,Indian cinema has found its own pair of Comedy Geniuses...Paresh Rawal and Om Puri....the new Rawal-n-Puri duo has given such a commendable comic performance that i believe will give any comedian in World Cinema a run for his money....the pure Innocence of the Village-People of India is portrayed beyond perfection by the Duo...
And Thirdly,I do wish (as an avid fan of Good authentic Indian Cinema that has no pastures and Trees with Chipmunks running around them with a back ground filled with "music" from the Wedding Planners in Heaven !!!!)that the Rawal-Puri duo get all the right awards and commendations for their respective roles....which i have a sinking feeling will go to charismatic "HEROES" off the so-called "Bollywood"......
And,at last but not the least....Kudos to all the Cast of this rib-tickling comic havoc....Keep up the brilliance people...heres awaiting more...
Sin City (2005)
Rob at his best...so Far !!!
Let me start off by saying that i am a fan of Sin City(Movie and Comic)..and by fan, read HUGE...... Anyways all this debacle about Sin City being Crap,to much violence blood, noise blah-blah.....what did you morons think..that it was Lassie part-2...off course there's lot off gore and gruesome violence...thats why its Sin City people and hey check the opening and closing credits will ya...Special Guest Direction by Quentin Tarantino!!!(if violence wasn't for ya,u should have walked out when you freaks read that at the opening !!)
Anyways getting back to the movie...i do agree with 89,i.e when you criticize and especially post it on a site for all to read...you gotta back it up with material, otherwise Ur just wasting Web-Space(not like its running out or anything, but thats out of the point)....
..and yeah,Jessica Alba cant act for nuts...well heard that a lot,but hey with a body like that you don't need to !!!...but its not the older Nancy Callahan that interested me..its the young Nancy's(Makenzie Vega) performance that caught my eye...the twisted turn of fate when the kiddos face was in Hartigan's mind while he wuz searching for her and years later he finds her...lil Nancy Callahan grown into a hottie throwing her arms around him inviting him to bed....scarry for a grown righteous man to take ,i must say...
but a few Nip-slips aside,i can say Rob did manage to put up a good show..and i know Sin City 2 is expected big time...hope they don't disappoint us like a bandwagon of fuzzed out sequels has,in the past...
...i'm sure Marv is gonna be missed....unless he becomes the walking dead in Sin City -2,that'l be cool !! Somewhere in the dark laid back alleys of the forbidden city i can hear him laughing this very second....or i suppose he's ruling Hell..with Goldie on his side...just like he'd want it...with his Valkyrie...
Seabiscuit (2003)
A touch of Class...Exlemplified by breathtaking Cinematography !!
I would agree with skeptics arguing the traditional David Vs. Goliath story, told and re-told,but would disagree on the fact that Seabicuit is probably the best ever cinematic example of such a feat. Apart from the fact that it was a true story, the gripping editing and intertwining of the 4 main characters to such an extent that an Animal became the center of attraction and the so called Hero of the Movie without uttering a word is something that we don't see in everyday movie-making. I'm sure the horses they used couldn't compete close to what the actual Biscuit did decades back...but the powerhouse attitude and performance of the horse creates a make-believe environment beyond the realm of the other characters.Hats of to the Horses' Trainers/Handelers and the Director of the movie for this piece of work.I felt the Direction was excellent and the movie deserved much more recognition, fame and fortune than it got. Kudos to the whole team and hope more "Seabiscuits" are delivered in time...
