Powerful
10 February 2019
Don't listen to the negative critic reviews. This film leaves an unforgettable and lasting feeling that continues to resonate. I thought I wouldn't make it through the film, however I ended up loving it with seeing how grippingly powerful that it truly was. It gave me memories of the same kind of power that films like Darren Arronovskys Requiem for a Dream of even Pi possessed. A fantastic and heartbreaking film that I would definelty recommend to others.

Great film
5 February 2019
I'm always enchanted when a director does something incredibly different from what is expected. Lars Von Trier makes me say this about him repeatedly every movie. Trier even seems to almost put himself in his own movies as the narcissist who is capturing the whole ridiculously imaginative situation.

Anyway, I loved The House That Jack Built. I though it was weird and intricate but a little more easy to understand compared to a David Lynch film. Matt Dillon's character is so well versed in his narcissistic way towards his own artistic and logical intellect that he makes you love him for his flaws as probably one of the most engaging serial killer films to date.

Song to Song (I) (2017)

Life changing love.
31 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Despite being self absorbed by life and it's wonders, characters ryan gosling and rooney mara distance themselves. the movie pits itself in a thriving Texas music scene where it feels like everything is working and nothing could go wrong. Mara's character, first finding herself in an unhappy relationship with Michael Fassbender. It is not long before she falls deeply in love with Ryan Gosling, thus sparking the chain of events that are to be set into order.

It is not soon before our two protagonists find fault with each other, inevitably drifting apart. Along the way, Fassbender meets Natalie Portman's character as she is working as a waiter in a small town diner. Portman succumbs to Fassbenders charm and the two begin a relationship. However, this leads to an unhealthy relationship that forces Portman's character to commit a senseless act.

Through there many relationships Gosling and Mara seem to long for each other and cannot find the proper substitution to ease the heartbreak they have experienced. It was not soon after before the two met at a party. They decide to set their differences aside and love each other for who they truly are, broken and flawed.

Song to Song is a fantastic movie for many reasons. It invokes a shocking amount of emotion through almost complete narration. It truly captures the overused term, true love, while still capturing something absolutely fantastic. Terrence Malick seems to bring the same type of powerful message to each of his films. That being, love is the only thing that transcends time and space.

Memoria (I) (2015)

A heavy ponder of past, future and present.
28 December 2018
Memoria, a film that I have watched and watched and still have not uncovered the movies true nature. It is a tale of poweful and life changing experiences that occur from the perspective of a grieving main character. Inside he for longs for what was and what will never be.

Catapulted by powerful and lasting performances that spark a question of true memories. What do we hold on to and for how long, and what do we choose to lose in translation. These are all questions that are brought to light in Memoria.

Other films based off of Franco's work (mainly being Palo Alto), did not capture what was being conveyed and put onto the screen. However, Memoria completes this with a sobering ease as it weaves you into it's carefully drawn web of inner turmoil. A must watch that I believe everyone should experience in their lifetime, Memoria will leave you feeling different about the people who walk by you each day.

Vox Lux (2018)
10/10
Emotion within music
20 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Vox Lux, the story of a young women's rode to achieving something of a greater proportion. The story begins with a childhood trauma in the circumstances of a devastating school shooting that is shaking to the core. Along the way she performs a song at the wake of a fallen classmate, and the world is changed. From this she receives attention that is an outstanding foreshadowing of what is to come.

It is not soon after before the main character is diccovered after her initial impact. She is soon caught inside the industry of music and is changed forever. This truly represents the tale of a fictional pop star being led from a tragic existence to absolute stardom.

Vox Lux, is a masterpiece for many reasons. The director, Brady Corbet masterfully states the sensitive topics and many messages that are conveyed through the powerful use of song in Vox Lux and encourages us to love the main character as we realize that she is flawed as we too are flawed. One of the most impactuful films I have seen all year and one that I hope is understood. Vox Lux truly captures what it is intending and does so with something that hits you with something you rarely see.

A heart Breaking and Sensational triumph
11 December 2018
Where to begin with a discussion of a movie of this nature. A film that so eloquently states it's unrelenting message of inner and outer pain. I have seen very few works of art that convey the message in a way that this film does. A realistic and unflinching work of true genius that is truly unforgettable as it completely shatters your heart and exposes us piece by piece. An obvious masterpiece from my personal favorite filmmaker Greg Araki.

A suberb film

This movie offers such an incredibly poetic tone, it begins very simply as it travels to the brink of insanity, which leads to an absolutely unforgettable ending, making this a film which is probably one of the greatest I have seen in recent years.

An incredibly emotional film without words
4 September 2018
A movie that you are so moved by that you are brought to confusion and then despair and ultimately to witnessing unforgettable atrocities of sadness and destruction. The name of this movie is clearly a metaphor for the mass destruction seen by gun wielding individuals and the gigantically senseless violence caused which is just as powerful and moving as Gus Van Sant's inspired film of the same name.

Great mindbending film

Beautiful, tragic, numbing. All ways to describe Mr.Nobody as it takes you back to a mans life and asks you the question "what if?"
