The Remains (I) (2016)

Tired of people giving movies good reviews because "there have been worse movies made"
17 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The movie had a great plot, sure a little unoriginal (family mourning loss of parent/spouse move into a beautiful old house at a strangely low price, do no research into it's history, and SURPRISE! It's haunted!) but that isn't the reason it's 1 star.

No it's one star because just like all of the horror movies out recently, it builds, and builds, and builds.... Then falls flat on it's face. The ending was garbage. There was absolutely no closure. Okay, evil spirit takes over house a long time ago got it. But why does it want the kids? Why does it want the kids. What do the doll and pocket watch have to do with ANYTHING. The end is just so unsatisfying and leaves more questions than answers. It's getting old. A horror movie ending in a way that leaves you questioning what the hell just happened is so old and played out and was only done well a few times, now every horror movie made tries to pull this same thing and it just comes across as lazy and unsatisfying.

Wraith (I) (2017)

Terrible acting, boring story, overall bad.
28 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The production value wasn't terrible, but the acting was horrendous. The teens actress was completely flat the entire movie. Basically has one facial expression the entire time (like she's slightly bored and confused). The mother was randomly flat and then over reactive (very delayed over reactive at that).

For example, the daughter walks home in the pouring rain. When she gets home the mom nonchalantly mentions that it was pouring earlier and sorry she didn't go pick the daughter up before saying in "Guess I'm the worst mom ever!" in a half hearted 'ha-ha' type tone.

Then later the ghost girl shows up in front of the mom while shes in bed sleeping. Mom wakes up in the most unconvincing "startled" act and ask the girl "who are you" in an angry voice, the girl just says "I want to live." the mom then starts to breath increasingly harder for an weirdly long amount of time before letting out an angry sounding grunt/gasp, throwing her blanket over her head and screaming "Leave me alone" in a way that only reminds me of a teenager fighting with her mother.

I really can't stress how terrible the acting in this is... it's just awful.
