Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993)
DS9 is the worst Star Trek series
It takes up a lot of important political topics, and always does something really ridiculous. It is sexist, ableist, racist, homophobic, etc - it is simply the worst Star Trek series ever - it has absolutely no logic and scientific reasoning. The hardest thing I've ever done is put up with its BS to finish the series.
Toy Story 4 (2019)
VERY POOR PLOT, MORALS! HOLLOW CHARACTERS!
Just to make the story romantic, and all happy and positive, they contradicted all the explanations that they initially established, as the story progressed. All the characters are really dumb and hollow, with no morals or logical reasoning.
The concept of consent was completely forgotten, if it didn't involve Woody. Though they created some strong female characters, they made it all hollow towards the end, really disappointed.
Jackpot (2019)
Full Comedy
Maintained high level of tempo. Tied all the storylines well. Extremely decent and well made! Hilarious!!! Absolutely entertaining!
Glitch (2015)
Pointless
Extremely boring and inconsistent. The plot just doesn't move at all.
Aadai (2019)
An absolute delight
A great female lead. All the characters are very well built. The film holds up to high standards. The film was quite logical, and less dramatic, being able to getting its beautiful point across, at the end, without resorting to any exaggeration. The movie's portrayal of feminism, the youth, humility, bonding was quite agreeable, unlike lots of other movies, which sets it a class apart. The film leaves you confused at times, but its all worth it in the end, as there's a fitting explanation. The story is beautiful!
Leila (2019)
Today's Indian version of George Orwell's 1984 - Absolutely amazing plot!
Its unbelievable something like this got made. Kudos!
It has quite a lot of subtlety and depth that requires a lot of awareness and exposure to grasp.
It is actually pro-Hindu. But the bold way the picture is painted, its bound to piss off a lot of extremists. Hence, its going to be very low rated due to their bias, but I really hope this does not discourage the producers from continuing the series. The creation of this series generates a lot of hope.
But the plot is squandered by poor direction. Important bits of information that need to be emphasized tend to get lost, unless you look for them.
Searching (2018)
Simply perfect
Everything was perfect. Just can't imagine a single thing that could have been better in the film.
If you use the internet much, you may never see a better film than this.
I can't understand why its rated so much lower than it deserves. Probably rated less by people who don't go online that much.
Vellaipookal (2019)
Decent movie. But could be improved.
The film has lofty ambitions and tries hard, but fails desperately.
Its a damn good attempt though.
The setting of the backgrounds was excellent. The tempo and the continuity of the story and certain explanations were up to good standards, but the film was lacking in attention to detail in the hurting scenes that they were simply pathetic.
The climax was absolutely lame, and did not make any sense in how the strong villain character just becomes a weakling with the appearance of the hero.
They probably expected the revealing of the mystery to be a surprise, but it turned out to be quite predictable.
Though the film attempted to be non-sexist and non-racist at times, it did have some very close minded undertones.
Star Trek: The Next Generation: The First Duty (1992)
A really good episode
Nick is shown not as a bad person, but in the right light, as someone who believes in his own values every moment, worthy enough to be a team leader.
The ep showed Wesley as a weak child who couldn't deal with the pressure of lying, or just bearing it for a few more seconds. This was atypical of his previous Mary Sue behavior and realistic that he was very influenced by Picard's sure opinion.
There are no right or wrong things to do in this episode, it was a moral dilemma. And it was shown beautifully.
It was an absolute disappointment when Wesley disrupted the closing of the case and came out with the truth, but the climax where nobody glorifies him for coming out, and that it is seen as a bad thing by his peers, and he has to pay for it, makes up for it. The finishing dialogue of Picard was pretty realistic and good, delivered as is.
Kannadi Pookkal (2005)
One of the best films ever made!
Every scene from start to finish is brilliant. This film inspires us all to rethink the branding of juveniles, and the concept of justice, and rehabilitation. It touches many deep concepts so smoothly and approaches them all in the perfect sense. The actors have given their best performances. It starts off slow, and hence having read the summary might make you feel like you know what's going to happen, but there's a lot more nuances in the film that can only be seen, and the lead up to the climax is amazing.
Black Summer (2019)
A perfect treat for adrenaline rush lovers
The series is very fast paced, thrilling and adrenaline filled. If you love chases, shooting, running, hiding, fighting, you'd love every moment of Black Summer.
Comparison with TWD:
Haters will hate. But Black Summer provides absolutely no reason to ever dislike it. It fulfills all your expectations, and then some more. Everything that I liked in TWD, Black Summer's (not BS) got it. The intelligence, the relationships, the twists, the moral questions, the trust issues, the realism of it all. Black Summer's got everything and is well-scripted without any lagging moments.
Black Summer is not much like Z Nation, because
1. this series is filled with tons of adrenaline rushes - running, shooting, chasing, hiding more than conversation or filling pauses between action scenes.
2. There is no comedy or fooling around in Black Summer, while Z Nation revolves around it.
3. In Black Summer, the zombies don't die as easily as they do in Z Nation, and survival is real hard even for the protagonists. Its as realistic as it gets!
Its NOT full of tropes, but quite interesting to watch with many surprises.
The makers have combined some not-so-common techniques. I absolutely loved the way they titled each section of each episode. I loved the zombie POV scene. I loved how they combined the different POVs of the protagonists.
Vizhithiru (2017)
Underrated touching film
Its a very touching film. Would definitely watch again. The film is very underrated. The thrill/tempo is maintained well, keeping us engaged. The film has a strong final message. Sai Dhanshika killed it (as usual), but so did all the others. This film belongs to the same genre as Managaram.
Jatt vs. Ielts (2018)
IELTS themed film full of tropes
All the romance part of the film is very poorly written. But most of the women characters are given strong roles. The film is pretty slow, and contributes absolutely nothing. It is only a repetition of tropes, but IELTS themed. The story maintains emotional ups and downs well. The representation of a false suicide attempt was a little disturbing, given the situation of misunderstood depressed people. It is not an informative film about IELTS, but its about the drive of youngsters to go abroad.
Mr. Chandramouli (2018)
Extremely Underrated Realistic Action film
One of the very few films that has managed to maintain logic in all its action sequences. Hats off to the team for that! Parent-child bonding is portrayed well. The romance is fast forwarded as its not the main content of the story. The pain, sorrow expression scenes are perfect. The film touches upon a slightly taboo concept and a medical condition, and delivers them very smoothly keeping up the tempo. The medical condition, and the ways they come up with to handle it are designed pretty well (from the perspective of a layman).
