Dirty Deeds (2005)
Porkys meets American Pie meets Cant Hadly Waite etc
It's end of High School year time and it's prank night!! Mix in porkys and all the other modern day high school movies and this is what you get.
It's about a guy who takes on the 10 dirty deeds, it hasn't been done for years and the last person to complete them all was about 13yrs ago and for the last bunch of years no one has tried and before that some only managed to do a few.
Has everything you expect, dorks, jocks, pot heads, white guys pretending to be black, house party thrown by a freshman trying to get in with the seniors, thick cops, boob shots, ditsy cheerleader types. and 10 pranks to be done by one guy All been done before and been done better, but still it's quite watchable.
Wolf Creek (2005)
Aussie Slasher
An Aussie movie based on a true story.
The movie follows 3 young people (1 lad 2 lasses) doing a tour of parts of Australia, and one of their destinations is to go to Wolf Creek in the outback. After a party the lad goes to buy an old banger to do the trip in, and not long after he goes back to pick up his two mates.
So off they head on sparse empty roads with wasteland all around, one stop takes them to a rundown petrol station/bar, and while paying at the bar for the petrol they get creeped out by some old pervs, and then they head of with full tank of petrol, on their way to Wolf Creek.
And with no surprise this is where things start to go wrong for them.
Pretty good film, it starts off quite slow, but it makes for character building and builds up the suspense as you know what's going to happen to them, so it's just a case of when!! And when their car doesn't start at night in the middle of no where... there ya go!
The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)
Finally a good Exorcist movie!
It's based on a true story from the early 70's. The link below takes you to an article of the original Russian story:

This version is based in America, surprise! and modern day. Where as the Exorcist all took place in a little 'ol house, this follows Emily from home to Uni and back home again where she is taken to be looked after, and where the Exorcism kills her. The story is mainly based around the court case where the Priest is in defence of killing her and that her death was caused by accident from the strains of constant excorsims. The other side of the case is, the priest killed her because he requested she come off the drugs for the diagnosed psychotic epilepsy.
A really good movie, it can be slow paced at times i.e. the court parts but that doesn't matter as it's good stuff, and the chiller parts make up for slow parts for people who would get bored.
All the demonic parts happen at 3am (the devils witching hour, i.e. the opposite time that Jesus was said to have died, that being 3pm) I finished watching at 1.30am then went to bed...spookily enough I then woke up at 3am on the dot!! nice! nowt happened like!
Cry Wolf (2005)
Scream meets Skulls
The brief read up I read I had it down as a typical low budget slasher, and it had bon jovi as an actor in it. So things weren't looking up before I even pressed play.
However it was quite good, it started off with a typical slasher killing of a girl in the woods, then after that a story and plot develops based on it.
A rich British lad has been expelled from school in England and faces a drugs charge, but good 'ol daddy twists a few arms and gets him shipped off to America and join a private posh school campus.
Here he meets a bunch of kids, and as a prank they decide to use the recent murder nearby in the woods as their joke.
So they send out a group email to the whole campus saying 'this happened at my old school there were 6 murders, the first was in the woods with a handgun, the 2nd murder was ... and so. They also give the killer a description of an orange ski mask and cameo jacket and using a knife for the 5 other murders, and went by the name WOLF.
As word spreads round the campus, 'is this real' or 'is it a joke?' it happens!! ohh one of the group goes missing!! And then other murders start to happen using their hoax descriptions! Quite a refreshing take on of the whole slasher/campus theme which holds a few twists and turns. Some are blatant too but never-mind.
Over all its an enjoyable movie which is filmed quite well. Cry Wolf looks to have a decent budget to it too, it's good to not see typical bad acting in this style of movie. If I were to sum it up, it's Scream meets Skulls.
