Trash Humpers (2009)
Best movie ever!
wow. this movie totally shakes the standards! Aunts all over the country will be shocked at this attempt to attack the establishment. Director Harmione Korine continues his masterful depictions of crazy people and it totally makes the point of shocking the burgeosy and the conformist middle class. It is even shot to look ugly, I mean, that is really daring. Not even the master of the dark side, Tim Burton, has dared to shoot a movie to look ugly.
Totally groundbreaking, like Jackass way back when. Mark my words, in a few years, you will feel great to say I SAW IT.
Peace.
Eagle Eye (2008)
It makes you think
I have always been a little bit anxious of what the government does with all the information they gather from us. I know there is a FBI file with every single one of my comments here on IMDb. But the questions raised by Eagle Eye are very valid. What if computers start taking over humans? Shia "Transformers" Le bouf stars as Jerry Show, a regular guy whose life gets transformed when a mysterious voice calls him and informs him that he "has been activated". I was very freaked out. I know it is a movie, but it is very realistic in its depiction of "Big Brother".
From now on, i'll be more careful about what i do on the net.
A Lowrider Spring Break En San Quilmas (2000)
Not that bad.
Come on, it is not that bad. Tammy gave it to me as a birthday gift, since she knows how much i love fast cars (and fast women, LOL).
If you liked "No Country for Old Men", you'll see that there are some parallel issues. A group of men drink and enjoy cars, and some cholos show up.
It reminded me also of Tobacco Road, and Laura the Explorer. This one is a must for fans of Rosie Perez.
I could have used some more character development and some more girls in the nude, but over all, i give this one a 6.
I shall repeat lines now, because i don't have enough.

House Party 2 (1991)
A quirky, witty encounter with a young Queen Latifah
Thiz house was da bomb. The Pajama Jam was awezome. And don't let me go into the hair and make up. Seriously, though, this movie was a great way of spending a rainy Wednesday night, with a loved one, with some double cheese popcorn and lots of purple Kool Aid. There's even a fine cameo by none other that Academy Award winner Woohpy Goodberg.
Thank God they invited QL (Queen Latifah) to this party! some of her later geniues can be seen in this early performance, a bit raw like Hanna Shygulla in the late Fassbinders.
8 out of 8. Da rulez.
Da rulez. Indeed.
All Women Have Periods (1979)
Agreed. Worth your 8 bucks.
So I took Tammy to see this movie, as you know we are both interested in this genre of "films" (if you know what i mean").
She thought it was interesting, thought provoking and revealing. I, honestly, was quite bored, for i am not that interested in the feminist agenda.
All in all, it was a fun night out.
I think a remake is in order.

Booty Call (1997)
Vivica and Academy Award Foxxx don't answer!
For those of you who don't know it, a Booty Call is is a telephone call, other communication, or visitation made with the sole intent of engaging in sex or other forms of sexual release with the person being contacted. Traditionally this social practice, especially the term booty call, is associated with a person calling another person for a sexual encounter after having already established either a casual or more serious relationship involving sexual relations.
Now, stars of this film seem to have a great time, and you will too. I wish Cedric the Entertainer had been here, but hey, not all films are purrfect.
8 out of 8.
See ya'll.
The Man (2005)
From the director of Code name: The Cleaner
This was a very diligent movie. There are characters and a plot, but the production overrun. I think people going to movies should have a good idea of what expected/ Way to go Mayfield Les, this is a movie.
let's face it this movie is "different" from all the Hollywood schlock, there is something there...elln page has a dog named pesatchio and god good actors after shocking madness.
when eugene levy wiggles his eyebrows it makes it funny and funnier than American pies.
Rating: if you liked Riding the bus with my sister and Wild Strawberries, you'll like this one.
Keeping Up with the Steins (2006)
a delightful little comedy!
As a Muslim young man, i had no idea how the whole Jewish thing worked. After seeing this charmer, I wish i had had a bar mitzvah. The family reminded me a lot of the movie The Other Sister, funny, sweet, touching, mega moms. I think movies such as this should be shown to everyone, so we learn the value of understanding other cultures, like blatinos and koreans. I took a date on this movie cuz i thought it would get me laid...y'know what i'm talking bout! but then i just loved it so much i was crying with happiness throughout, and it kind of weirded her out, but i'm looking to find a nice looking woman who really understands these things, and doesn't talk too much, and likes good movies by this fabulous directors, who has on his resume gems such as Runaway Bride (a.k.a. Pretty Woman 2), Pretty Woman 1, Raising Helen, Beaches and Exit to Eden. Shall I say more?
i wanted to buy this movie so bad when it came out on DVD that i considered camping out in front of the store, but Tammy said, wait. I ended up buying it at my local Blockboster for only 3.99!
Keep it real, boyz!
Now and Then (1995)
A comedy for the ages
I loved this film. Well, let's be honest, I will love any movie with Roseanne. Add Demi "Mrs. Kutcher" Moore, Melanie "Mrs. Banderas" Griffith, and you will just have a bang.
The story goes back and forth between now and then, and it is a testament of the power of female friendship. The heroes, or maybe I should call them She-roes, are able to stand by each other through thick and thin. I know that some men cried (not me, but i know for a fact that my friend Derek went through a full box of Kleenex watching this lovely film).
There are my two cents. Girls kick a**. Forever. Definitely.
See you next time.
Jack (1996)
The greatest director ever does it again!
The director of epics such as The Godfather, Apocalypse Now and The Conversation has made another wonderful film, just like the aforementioned.
Robin Williams is fabulous as the eponymous character, and his Jack has echoes of Martin Sheen in Apocalypse, Brando in Godfather and Hackman in Conversation. All these characters are in a deep, intellectual soul-searching mission, and Williams delivers a wonderfully nuanced performance, as the lonely boy who has to deal with manhood all too soon.
Funny that Coppola keeps talking about how Hollywood is just about money, but then he makes lovely films like Jack, The Rainmaker or Youth without Youth. Way to go, Francis.
See you next time.
The Secret (2006)
A very private secret?
I can't believe how this movie changed my life, and my views on on Albert Fish. I always thought of Oprah, Rosie and Shanda as the guides of my life, but then after seeing that seen where the guy rides the motorcycle, no words can explain my soul searching extravaganza. The heart boils to a passionate tempurature when Jesus and children are involved. Way to go Heriot Drew. Canada deserves such films. If it changed my life, it can change anyones. maybe even Faizon Love. I always thought of Oprah, Rosie and Shanda as the guides of my life, but then after seeing that seen where the guy rides the motorcycle, no words can explain my soul searching extravaganza.
Hanes agree.
se you all next time!
Horton Hears a Who! (2008)
Could have been better
Children don't need this information. They just need to be taught the right way to live so they can ascend as young as possible. But this necessitates positive moral guidance by the parents, and as corrupt as people are today this is the exception rather than the norm. Because of this, sadly, it is best for children to accept this limitation, understand and depart rather than stay and continually incurr evil as they live their lives. My family is a very sad case. My mother and others in my family gave the gods carte blanche with this family, and this has ensured our children will DEMAND to know why, for boss corrupts them at a very tender age. They took a very creative, disturbing and destructive approach to accomplish this but the gods have casted my family into damnation.
Boat Trip (2002)
Fun
Okay people, i read so many mixed reactions about this one, that I literally tip toed to watch it. My friend Evan hated, and said it was worse than Dogville, but my Dad said it was great. And i am a big Horatio Sanz fan, but who isn't?!... so I ventured.
I loved it! Don't let the liberal media fool you, Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr. is a great comedian and scholar, and he manages to cruise this moving picture with grace and gusto. There are some darker, gross out moments, but they serve the story (just like the gross out moments in any Cronenberg or Bela Tarr films). Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty) is great as the b***h, but her character is well developed and goes well beyond clichés.
Till next time.
RV (2006)
Oscar Winner Robert Williams does it again
For all of you fans of Ockham and Heidegger, this is a film for you! Hilarious, intriguing, often mesmerizing, this is a film for the entire family. I laughed so hard, the neighbors almost called the police. It is almost as funny as "When The Whistler Blows".
If Orson Welles were alive, he would be directing comedies like this one. I particularly liked the scene of the RV. Do I smell a sequel? Anyway, if you enjoy the easy writings of Thomas More or Therese of Avila, this film is your best bet.
The woman from Arrested Development was great too. It is a film that really makes you think. It was almost as good as Click, and as insightful as Man on Fire.
I Am Sam (2001)
despicable
Despicable is really the only word which can be used to describe this movie. People might defend it by saying that they portray the handicapped in a favorable manner, which is partly true in comparison to some of the other characters, but there is no getting around the fact that the movie makes jokes about mentally retarded people. The movie makers want the viewers to laugh when they see a retarded person slap himself in the chest or say something stupid or do something stupid, and that is wrong on so man different levels. I am not a "worried mother". I am a 16 year old boy, who this movie is targeted to and even I can see how mean spirited it is. The makers think they can make jokes about retarded people, claim it was in good fun and think they can get away with it. Wrong. But, even once you look beyond this despicable aspect, the movie still isn't funny. There are a few small good jokes they make, but that is the extent to which this movie has any enjoyable aspects. Avoid at all costs.
Color of the Cross (2006)
fascinating
This film is neither preachy nor pedantic, and was a welcome surprise for me. As a non-Christian who nevertheless respects the historical figure of Jesus Christ and the beauty of his philosophy and teachings, I found this to be a powerful portrayal of much that I think is worthwhile about the Christ story. I know the film has been maligned for anti-semitic content (perhaps because Jews make mistakes in the film and are seen as persecutors instead of victims? - it could have been anybody!), and for various other problems - but let's face it - any movie portraying this subject was bound to face strong reactions. And kudos to Jean-Claude La Marre for not shying away from the subject by creating a sterile, gutless, Disney story out of what really was a good example of the everyday horror of life on the fringes of the Roman empire. la Marre invents a new genre with Color of the Cross - that of historical horror.
The performances in this film are inspired. I felt that the film brought out the cowardice of the apostles very forcefully, and the courage and love of the two Maries in Jesus' life was palpable to the very end. The effect of Aramaic and Latin, with the moody soundtrack, was spellbinding. Again kudos to La Marre for his courage and artistic integrity on the decisions involved in these elements of the film.
Final word - this is not a film for the whole family nor is it a feel-good film. Don't see it if you're not willing to confront the worst aspects of human nature up close. And don't go in looking for your own version of the story - it's not your film! This is what La Marre believes, and it's his own revelation, not necessarily to be shared by all.
Bratz (2007)
I heard a lot of good thing about Brats.
Why is it that no one has said anything about this one? What a delightful film! I am still laughing, even though i saw it last Thursday. It is great film-making, a great example that you can make an awesome movie with three pesos. I will watch it over and over again. I almost feel like dating a black woman now (LOL). It reminded me of such landmarks as Madea's or Waiting to Exhale... I wonder why Oprah hasn't discussed this film on her great show. I think every young woman (and every young men) should definitely check this one out. You won't regret it.
Seriously, this is a great movie, better than any Spike Lee joint.
Da Best in da West 2: Da Western Pulis Istori (1996)
a really charming movie
I was a bit worried after the first five minutes that the dialogue was going to be a bit too ridiculously snappy, and everything was going to be a bit too cute, and was just gonna try really hard to be the female Superbad. Hanes has this. Eduardo didn't understand this movie and he kept leaning over to me to ask me what was going on but the thing is when he whispers he always spits all over me. Tammy loved tho, I knew she would. The parents are really well written and acted too. Really funny and sweet, unlike Mozilla or Blackzilla.
but yeah go see it your girlfriend (or wife) will love it. Also the most interesting thing about this movie is
Radio (2003)
This Radio is in full stereo
I love Cuba Godding, but this time the acting got in the way of the performance. Like when he was running down the field until with the children. Cries everywhere but the real substance inherent there was so silly. An actor is an actor. Kinda like in Boyz in Da Hood. Too bad he got his Oscar nod for a completely different movie, yet very deserving but at times fun and hard to watch. But it says a lot about life when you think of some of things Cuba says to the dog...the funny one, the really, really good ones.
I think people who hate they movie have to consider choices that actors have sometimes. As an actor myself I choose the right way. Just so
Keloglan Karaprens'e Karsi (2006)
What on earth were they thinking?
WTF? This movie was just plain weird. It is about a bunch of people trapped in the living room of a wealthy guy, but there is really no apparent reason why they're trapped in there. Then, some sheep with their eyes covered, and then a bear. A BEAR? Are you kidding me?
Were they just trying to spend someone else's money, or a government grant, or something? If that is the case, great. If not, watch real movies, like any Tyler Perry, or some early Sean Mc Namara (Bratz).
The worst scene involves a massacre over some big stair steps at some weird beach, and a baby cradle falls down. Is that bizarre or what?
Until next time.
From Justin to Kelly (2003)
From True Love to Ecstasy
The truth is that this film has good and bad things, and that is why I give this one a 5. I actually met Tammy that way, so it was a sweet reminder of all things past. The beach, the sand, the youth... Watching this movie was like going back to Myrtle Beach, on those beautiful summer afternoons.
Justin Guarini reminds me a lot of myself back in the days, with my golden curls, and my bushi-bishi. Whatever happened to Mr. Guarini, anyway? I hear that he will be starring in the sequel for "Riding the bus with my sister", with Roseanne.
The bad thing is the message that love can conquer all. Hello? This is not how things go in real life. The way life surpasses the better others is in distress delete afterwards. Anyway, IMHO.
And some of the song really sucked, but i walked out of this movie feeling great and young. is that a bad thing? Keep it real, y' all.
Epic Movie (2007)
A Movie of truly epic proportions.
What is it with the bad reviews this film is getting? It is full of epic chuckles, and witty, thoughtful writing. If you were expecting Battleship Potemkin, you were looking in the wrong place.
The actors are all in top shape, and all do great parodies, especially Borat and Rosie O'Donell. I think Horatio Sanz was also remarkable, as if he's ever NOT remarkable. It should be nominated for a Palme d'Or of LAUGHTER!
I had the chance to watch this hilarious movie on the plane back from Orlando, and Tammy couldn't stop laughing, i was afraid the air marshal will ask us to stop laughing, you know especially after 9/11 and all. Even Tammy's friend Larisha loved it and she didn't even like Barber Shop 2! This is the funniest piece of cinema of all year after Mr. Woodcock
it reminded me of early Chaplin.
SpiderBabe (2003)
Spiderbabe, spiderbabe, does whatever that a Spiderbabe does...
This is a fantastic meditation on eroticism, pleasure and spiders... It had more spiders than Cronenberg's Spider, and more Babe than Pig in the City. The special effects are AWESOME, and it should be nominated for an Academy Award, when the time comes.
A young woman's inner struggle, between loving men and women, is beautifully portrayed with irony and humour. We have all been there. Ultra right conservatives will scream, but this might as well be the best feminist film of this era.
Funny, yet profound, entertaining, yet utterly important, this film is a wonderful portrait of a generation without a future and it is an allegory of the current situation, home and abroad.
Rent it. You won't regret it.
