I really wanted to like this show, since some of it's scares are pretty good and creative, especially in the two first and the last episodes IMO. It's very much like the style of Mike Flanagan movies, but maybe with it's own little twist.
And I'm glad that there are more tv shows now that focus on real horror.
However, the scares soon turns to mainly being jump scares. And my biggest problem with this show is the script. It's clichéd and pretty stupid. And worst of all, it reminds me of horrible films such as Rec 2 in that the (not so clever) desicions made by the protagonists are decisions made only because they make the plot move forward (in some way). They do stuff that no normal person would do (with some exceptions) just because, I don't know - writers block?
Here are some toughts about the oldhorror clichés in the script, and they may contain minor spoilers

- Shouldn't there be a huge police investigation in Elden right now? There are bodies everywhere, and the protagonists are linked to them.
- Why did they steal that dog from the priest to get it posessed by Marianne; and how did they do it? Isnt it really hard to steal a guard dog - They all seem like rather lazy alcoholics to me. Couldnt they just have bought a little rabbit instead?
- This show does play the old "the witch-hunt was real"-card. And it feels pretty outdated and maybe even offensive.
