Jigsaw (2017)
A new chapter? after the final chapter?
Although the last Saw film was titled 'the final chapter' we were given another saw film, this one titled slightly different 'Jigsaw'.
The film had a lot of interesting details and scenes which would keep the audience hooked and wanting to find out more. Such as the start, i, for one wanted to know how the guy found out another game was starting and how his storyline would play out. It was interesting to find out how they played off the 'good guy' playing the bad guy (obviously for spoiler reasons i won't mention who).
The planning and work gone into each scene and trap, not just designing and building but actually making each one look realistic and matching wounds to the trap would've been a lot of work and i praise them for that however, like some other people have mentioned, the acid was incorrectly detailed and to some, who know about Acid, this would stand out and ruin the film.
During the film there is tons of easter eggs and foreshadowing of various traps to come and possibly some scenes for a later film maybe?
The film keeps up with the 'saw franchise marketing' that being plenty of gore and a creepy as hell Puppet, reintroduced with new features. Alongside this puppet there is plenty of subtle hints at the actual killer, known as the copycat killer.
So yeah, i would say this film is overly good and worth watching, especially if you enjoy the original saw films and a fan of the franchise.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)
Interesting to watch but follows the basic Horror movie Storyline
The film is typical of a lot of Horror Movies being set in the 1970's Autumn time with the story taking place in a small American side town with a small population however this doesn't mean it isn't exciting and attention drawing to watch. The storyline, although very similar to that of IT:Chapter one (Mythical creature / ghost attacking children, with only children able to witness the attacks) does draw your attention, leaving you wanting to find out more.
The film has the typical protagonists, gang of 'cool, hard nut wanna be' type then the nerdy, unpopular ones within that group one falls for the female, one has the typical religious family. The groups often face each other in a battle of power.
The setting is typical for horrors, an abandoned, derelict house that has some weird haunted and magical thing about it. This makes the audience feel some sort of comfort while fearing what is unseen and what could lurk around each corner.
The connection between two of the subplots is interesting and put together in a interesting way, connecting two items you;d never expect to be involved in the main plot.
Finally the storyline never has a dull moment, keeping you attention drawn to the screen rather then floating away on your phone or something. It is also nice to see a brave, female lead rather then the typical scared cat type roles.
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
A new and unique take on a Zombie Apocalypse film!
The iconic duo return for another great film, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg take on an apocalypse of Zombies.
The film is low budget and that can be seen throughout the movie, things such as the mistake of the bloody hand prints on the drink fridge door in the shop are the wrong way around and the lack of make up or cgi for the Zombies which don't look like zombies much at all. Although that doesn't make it any less of a Zombie film or a great film in any way.
The start is quite slow however interesting and engaging, allowing the viewer to want to find out more about the characters, although it's slow it plays out the backstory which expands on the story line. By doing this it allows the viewer to get an understanding of the characters and their personality thus making the story unique to those characters.
Some may not find the film funny as the jokes and banter is subtle and low with very explicit language. If you look carefully you will see various pieces of foreshadowing which are hidden inside the film. alongside this foreshadowing there is also some Easter egg references to 'Paul'
22 Jump Street (2014)
Identical storyline, different setting!
Just like the first film, it's funny straight from the get go with an interesting opening, that interesting part of it became a meme.
From the start the film follows a similar story line to the first however with a different setting and characters switched around.
During the film there is tons of easter eggs to be spotted such as a possible third film coming and ice cubes office being referred to as an ice cube. Alongside the easter eggs the the action sequences are great and fast paced, but not so fast that you can't enjoy the action and understand it.
The ending is great with a interesting build up to the end.
21 Jump Street (2012)
Film that is sure to get you laughing!
With two iconic actors playing the lead roles the film is sure to be a hit!
The opening scene really intrigues the watcher, catching their attention and making them want to watch on to find out what happens next, also to develop the characters.
Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill both portray exciting and well developed characters within a serious message while the story line is written to show the seriousness of drugs and the issues caused by drug dealing in high school. This is shown in a comedic view to keep the viewers attention and to stand out from the typical undercover police drama.
The film is funny from the getgo and although it has a lot of bad language, the language allows the characters to be portrayed more realistically then they would if they didn't swear, like come on, what high schooler doesn't swear?
Overall although the film is set to be comedic about a serious issue it turned out to be a good film with a great story line and great character development. However this does not mean it deserves 10*, there were quite a few errors in rendering. For example when Eric gives Channning and Jonah's characters the guns, he can be heard speaking but his mouth doesn't move.
Further more the story line is quite basic and typical of the high school story line where one character is bullied while one isn't, and for this reason i have chosen to give 7 stars, alongside the fact that the story line is predictable in some places.
Alien: Covenant (2017)
A Film likely to get you hooked!
With a strong start that keeps your attention hooked on the storyline and wanting to find out more, the film certainly knows how to keep a viewers attention.
The opening stirs up a lot of questions, this allows the audience to retain attention on the film as they will want to find out the answers to these questions, the opening is intriguing and enjoyable. Not much action at the start but that's not a bad thing.
The character development is quite slow but strong, allowing us to feel for the characters and get a sense of understanding of how the characters are related to each other. With a slow character development it allows us to get personal with the characters over the course of the film rather then all at once meaning the film stays interesting through out.
The acting is good, however some scenes may be classed as over acted.
The fast paced action makes it hard to get to grips with what is going on however on the plus side it is more realistic, as action in real life, so to speak if you encountered these creatures in real life you wouldn't be moving slowly or aiming well. Alongside the fast paced action the introduction of a new character, 'David' is extremely interesting and viewer attention retaining, stirs up a lot of questions like, Who is he?, What is he doing on the planet?
The Visual effects are out of this world which compliments the interesting story line throughout the film.
Although this film has some amazing points there is, like most films room for improvement.
Prometheus (2012)
A prequel with a difference!
With a strong, attention catching start the film took off to a good start. The start gives nothing away which is good.
Although it is slightly confusing at the start as not much is explained everything soon becomes apparent throughout the film. Although, some of the characters stories are left open with room for development and not much is really said about each character so it's hard to relate to the characters.
The action side of things is is great, David played a huge part in progressing the action to keep it interesting while the supporting characters could have had more development time. With a few jump scares you can guarantee that you will be on the edge of your seat throughout.
The CGI is good however has room for improvement however what film doesn't have room for improvement.
Overall a good film with some room for improvements.
Grave Encounters (2011)
Great film with minor mistakes.
Absolutely enjoyed this film, the story line was ace with plenty jump scares and nightmare provoking scenes.
Although i thoroughly enjoyed the film there were parts that didn't make sense, for example, when they entered the doors had 'death awaits' however the same doors later lead to corridors, why is that? Also when they enter the room with the huge amount of writing on the walls wouldn't be as fresh, the writing would either be faded or pealing. Lastly the bath scene, when Lance enters and sits in the bath it is completely clean, although when they first encounter it the bath was covered in rusty brown stains.
Although of these slight imperfections the film is very interesting and worthwhile watching. Yes, there have been plenty of these types of films but this one has a twist to it. I highly recommend watching it in the dark if you love scary films and not sleeping.
Misogynist (2013)

Michael has delivered amazingly with his first feature length film. The characters are well written and developed, storyline is well driven and laid out. The story was full of interesting dialogue. Highly recommended
