Legacy (2010)
Worth A Watch, A Different Kind Of Film.
I like to believe I am a man who prefers the different type of story and something that's a bit engaging and new. Legacy definitely offers that.
It takes place in a hotel room where Malcolm Gray (Idris Elba) uncovers a scandal linked with his brother who is a senator. All the while having flashbacks of his time on the force with his comrades and what he went through.
It's intense, gripping and you are never bored. Elba is truly fantastic and shows his range beyond Stringer Bell. The whole cast is amazing and I keep wishing Eamonn Walker had more scenes!!!! The acting throughout was truly amazing and the writing was clever as well as the direction that really drew you in to this puzzle of a film.
I do think there are a few things that could have made it more claustrophobic and emphasized the lonesome nature of this story but nothing in the world can ever be perfect. The film does enough to make it a must-watch.
Transformers (2007)
Bayformers!!!!....Less Than Meets The Eye!!!!
I really can't even begin to talk of the many flaws of this crappy film. Let's put ILM's incredible CGI to one side and focus on this filthy film.
The comedy...what comedy? They tried so hard to make me laugh and put as many jokes in a scene that it was painfully un-funny. Every character was highly unrealistic and the 'comedic' tone was annoying and very forgettable. The racial stereotype jokes are dull, boring and tiresome. All in all, the comedy sucked.
The plot....we must find the ALL Spark and destroy it...that's it. No development of story of what the ALL Spark is, no twists during the film...NOTHING! Simply find the ALL Spark and destroy it before the Decepticons get it...pathetic! Who writes this trash??? There are many fans like me who could write a better script sitting on a toilet in two hours.
In general, the film was plain awful. Again, Bay's quick cutting and bad use of slo-mo was annoying and badly done. There were times where you couldn't even see what was happening. Also, in a film about TRANSFORMERS! There was little to no character development. Man, this film was just soooo bad. Shia Laboeuf annoyed me with his constant bickering and Megan Fox is one of the worst actors I've ever seen. Bay should not be allowed to make anymore movies and I hope Spielberg can come to save this franchise.
My biggest pain is that ILM's revolutionary creation of the robots had to be mixed in with a rubbish movie. If Spielberg or Cameron directed the movie with those SFX, we would have had ourselves a modern classic. Instead, we have an appalling 'blockbuster'.
Limbo (2004)
A truly unique achievement
Limbo are one of those seldom little qualities that one is lucky they found. The film just has such a gripping storyline that leaves allows one to interpret it in so many numerous ways. Then the black and white look that keeps you edgy through the whole movie is truly excellent and the score by Andy Daniels is incredible in my opinion. This really is a film that everybody needs to own, ESPECIALLY, aspiring filmmakers. I still find it outstanding, being a filmmaker myself, that Ikimi managed to assemble a crew this good to produce such excellence for a meagre $9,000. I just hope that it can come out soon on DVD so that I can watch it again as I am really desperate to do so.
Hopefully, those 'directors' in Hollywood can take note of the brilliance of Limbo. It really is a great effort by the whole crew that was assembled. Well done
