A California Christmas (2020)
Predictable but with an original storyline
With netflix putting out a ton of christmas movies, I have watched many of these and have stayed away from the rest because they looked too boring/unoriginal. I thought the acting in this movie was pretty good for a random christmas movie and I knew I picked up on some real life romantic vibes (the actors are married in real life) and it made it that much more enjoyable.
I may have been a bit biased in that I am from california so could relate a bit to the character but truly an enjoyable watch!
Vida (2018)
Hooked from the first episode
I have to be honest - I read the negative/mixed reviews before watching the show and thought they did not do this show any justice. This show is amazing in its ability to capture the right balance of comedy, drama, and romance along with superb acting and just a lot of stories you can relate to. I, for one, hope this show doesn't get cancelled as I will be watching it weekly. If real life stories with a good home town feel is your kind of show, definitely worth giving this a shot!
Tully (2018)
Pleasantly Surprised
I went in to Tully with almost no expectations and with only a general idea of what the movie was about.
Initially, I thought the movie was going to be a run-of-the-mill story, with ups and downs ending in a feel good message - I was very wrong. This movie had the ability to portray motherhood in a very real light while also adding in all the aspects of filmmaking that make a story-line captivating. I found myself buying into Charlize's character and the characters around her with relative ease and was taken along on an emotional ride for the duration of the movie.
This movie is well worth the watch, if at least to see some superb acting and very real story telling.
