Assassin's Creed: Origins (2017)
A very engaging game with very few flaws
This may very well be my most favorite Assassin´s Creed game, and perhaps one of my most favorite games ever.
Plot: The plot focuses on a Medjay turned Assassin Bayek, seeking revenge against the Order of the Ancients, who killed his son because they´re a bunch of really mean jerks. Along our journey we come across many colorful character, including Bayek´s wife Aya, soon to be pharaoh Cleopatra, and military general Julius Caesar. All of these characters felt unique in their own way, and while their personalities could have been fleshed out more, I liked them
Gameplay: Gameplay has undergone yet another large overhaul, with many RPG elements being introduced, including weapon stats and a skill tree. Combat feels fluid and fun but without feeling simplistic. Enemies will rush and outnumber you quickly if you decide to take on several at once. Sneaking around an enemy camp, silently stabbing enemies in the throat with the hidden blade has never felt more fun.
Exploration: While exploration is mostly the same (find tall place, climb tall place, soak in the view), it all still feels fresh and fun. Origins boasts the largest map in AC history, with a multitude of different environments, like cities, deserts, and swamps. Along the way, you can explore tons of places and collect lots of items, making every place worth the trouble.
Overall, I had a good time playing this game, and while I felt it could have done a bit better, I think they really hit the ball out of the ballpark. Here´s hoping Odyssey is just as good, if not better.
Call of Duty: Ghosts (2013)
Very interesting premise-though it could have been handled better
COD:Ghosts takes place in the late 2020s, after an attack by a South American military force destroys most of America. As a soldier in a secret black ops unit called the Ghosts, the last remnants of the U.S army, it is your job to reclaim your homeland. Plot-wise, it seems pretty interesting. Story-wise, however, it falls flat. Characters are never fleshed as they were in previous titles, and seem to act much more like the average action hero. The villains are just simple bad guys, though the main antagonist, Rorke, is pretty interesting. Overall, the game could have been much better and well-defined. If you are a simple fan of FPS games, you might want to give this game a try.
