Your Place or Mine (2023)
the dad from diary of a wimpy kid makes this watchable
Every 15 to 20 minutes, the dad from diary of a wimpy kid turns up and says something funny - it really breaks up the constant montages over music and split screen phone conversations.
How nice is everyone's house in this film by the way? It's almost distracting how nice the cars and the houses and everything is.
I'm about 45 minutes into the film at the moment and I have to say nothing has happened so far. They've swapped one nice house for another nice house and then they went to see a hockey game.
A big positive for me is the child in this is actually quite good. He's probably the best person in this, other than the dad from diary of a wimpy kid.
Overall, it's a new film on netflix that I won't even remember having seen in a week. Completely fine filmmaking.
Mainstream (2020)
Utterly bizarre vision seen through to completion
I have incredible respect for the director, this is absolutely her full vision. Every decision and shot and line of dialogue is intentional and has to be appreciated.
That being said, the film is bad and at times makes no sense.
Mainstream is worth watching to see everything Gia Coppola wants you to see, and Andrew Garfield turns in one of the most interesting performances he has given in his career so far.
