Good Deed? Good Movie!

Tragic house fire, stabbing vegetables, tampering with car breaks and killing all the people. What more could you ask for in a Lifetime movie?

Shouldn't have gotten a Second Chance

Very convoluted and not terribly interesting. Actors did the best they could with the material provided. The overly complicated script and confusing direction let them down.

Take the Britney Spears "Toxic" music video filmed on a Lifetime budget and add some female empowerment. You've got this movie. Over all very fun.

High Camp. Ivy is my KWEEN.

Lindsay Hartley, & Jason-Shane Scott are a great writing team. The movies they write always nail the Lifetime vibe.

Acting was so over the top. I'm pretty sure Ivy (Audrey Landers) is a drag queen. When she rang a bell instead of calling 911, I died. Pour it up!

Uninteresting and Tedious Mystery
14 May 2020
Take anything you like about a Lifetime movie and throw it out the window. Then you have this move. Over complicated, too many characters, and insanely boring.

There is a reason LMN doesn't often produce movies. This is an excellent case for it NEVER to happen again. Yikes.

Hmmmm, no.

Lifetime has a bad track record with depicting mental health and this is no exception. Twist at the end was such a disappointment

Killer Movie
13 May 2020
This movie had a lot of Lifetime tropes including; nanny cams, pregnant ladies, and hunky husbands.

Then you add some cool directing choices like adding a deranged version of "The Wheels on the Bus." after a disturbing kidnapping and murder. It is dark comedy at it's best.

Cameron Jebo was especially great. Pour it up!

Inn Trouble!
11 May 2020
Taking a Hallmark Movie staple and putting a Lifetime spin on it sounds awesome! This movie had a great idea but was poorly executed.

You know you have a problem when the child actor is the best actor in your movie. The actor who portrayed Ava cried REAL TEARS and was excellent.

Robyn and Drew (when he was shirtless) we Lifetime good, but everyone else was awful. Also, the depiction of mental health in this movie was problematic.

Lifetime at it's shirtless best
11 May 2020
Lifetime is shameless about having hunky male actors with their shirts off. Add to that a well acted, well written script, and you have a instant Lifetime classic. Pour it up!

Keeping up... with this movie.

Knock off Kourtney Kardashian was excellent. I also enjoyed the supporting cast. The movie time jumps, but does so in a unpurposeful way. The attempt to build suspense is undercut with poor directing and writing choices. Put a cork in it.

Marcus Rosner nails it again!
4 May 2020
Great movie with lots of suspense and outlandish murders. Just what you are looking for in a Lifetime flick. Add a hunky leading man and you've got a winner.

Marcus Rosner's body alone should win an Emmy. Can we make that happen? He has nailed the Lifetime bad guy role, with bonus gratuitous shirtless scenes. How he can bounce from Lifetime camp to Hallmark's hunky wholesomeness is impressive.

I removed a star for the TERRIBLE photoshop in this movie poster. Otherwise Pour it up!

Salacious title, stupid movie!

If you love pink fedoras this movie is for you... AKA for no one.

Despite the title this movie as not sexy at all. Almost felt like a porno with out the sex. The women were written as one dimensional and stereotypes. The leading man was hot and maybe playing dumb but came off uncharismatic and boring.

Boring even with hunky leading man.
4 May 2020
The movie meanders with little to no thrills. The score was very distracting and over all vibe of the movie seemed low budget, even for a TV movie. The actors were great (Particularly Victoria Barabas & Nick Ballard) and they were ready to deliver some DRAMA but the source material was lacking and let them down. Put a cork in it!

Great Cast!

Lindsay Hartley is a Lifetime Movie KWEEN. So happy to see in addition to acting, she is continuing to write scripts as well.

That being said this movie dragged for me. The husband was kind of basic.

Lifetime Movie to Remember

I loved loved loved the diversity in the cast. Props to the casting director.

The writing and direction here were better than normal. Adult story lines and high school storylines both had high stakes and nice follow through. This was full of some truly shocking moment/kills.

Great Spoof of a Hallmark Trope
29 March 2020
Is this movie well written, No. Is it campy AF and well acted by the young actress. Yes.

How could you not enjoy this over the top spoof of a classic (and problematic Hallmark trope. A normal everyday girl finding out she is a princess. If it didn't work out for Meghan Markle why should it work out for anyone else.

Mother Knows Worst, Isn't Lifetime's Best.

Katie Leclerc is always a delight. She delivers a great performance with some extra nuance that a lesser actress might not have added.

The writing on this one let me down. A little too convoluted and too many misdirects to really trust any character POV. Like, who am I rooting for here? Still enjoyable enough due to the strong performances.

Banker Barbara
13 October 2019
Even Banker Barbara (Academy Award Nominee, Mary Badham, who was nominated for an Oscar for her supporting role as Scout Finch in the 1962 film To Kill a Mockingbird.) can't save this movie.

If David turned out to be Boo Radley, I could have given it more stars.

This movie found a nice balance of creating horrible unlikeable characters. (based on real people, but NOT Lori Loughlin, Felicity Huffman, or anyone alive or dead... for legal reasons.) while still having the characters be ones you love to hate.

I added an extra star for Emma's hunky boyfriend, Brian!

The movie dragged in the predictable final act, but overall pretty solid offering from Lifetime. The actors all had good chemistry and grounded performances.

I added a star for all the gratuitous shirtlessness Matthew MacCaull.

Alyson Hannigan Delivers
6 October 2019
Since this movie is based on a true story, it is difficult to be hyper critical. I will say Alyson Hannigan's portrayal of Mary Stauffer was layered and well acted. Nice to see her step out of her comfort zone!

Damning indictment of the "ex-gay" movement
29 September 2019
The movie was well acted and serves its purpose for bringing to light an important topic of LGBTQ minors being held captive in conversion therapy. (Which is currently still legal in 33 state.)

Trigger warning for those sensitive to depictions of self harm and suicide.

I added an extra star for Wilson Cruz portraying Utah-based lawyer and champion for LGBTQ rights Paul C. Burke.

This 30ish year old returning to High School has CERTAINLY been kissed. (and then some.) If you're looking for Never Been Kissed with murder and cheerleading. Look no further.

Maiara Walsh finds a home at Lifetime and I hope to see her in more TV movies. She is great.
