NCIS: New Orleans: Foreign Affairs (2015)
Typical NCIS NO
The previous reviewers opinion is tainted in one resepect: Kate Beahan's character added spice to the plot. And writing. And acting. Which was badly needed.
Similarly to the FBI stepping in, NCIS NO suffers from comic book writing and acting. Constantly, we see Pride's team stepping outside of protocol and fighting other agencies like FBI for ownership of a case.
When Bakula disarmed Kate Beahan, this is a perfect example of Pride's over reacting and Bakula's over acting. On another scene together, he removes her from case, a power move, because he didn't like her style.
Bakula's acting de graded as seasons went on. He was reading his cue cards and adding in facial contortions and waving his hands and never forget his constant pacing while talking. This is good character acting?
Later seasons without Zoe McClellan were worse. The addiction of Vanessa Fortilo was not a good one. She too read her lines. Interrupted everyone.
Where was Director Vance? He had no leash on NO.
I'm surprised NO lasted 9 seasons.
The Rifleman: The Wyoming Story: Part 2 (1961)
A favorite. Don't forget mileage
The Wyoming Story was one of my favorites, among 6 or 7 episodes. It was exciting, eventful and certainly at end of Part 2, very touching.
Lucas was gone for two months. We need to consider that New Mexico to Wyoming is approx. 700 miles. In today's world, we all say, no biggie, a 10 hr drive.
But on horseback, maybe 20-40 miles a day, we are talking about 2-4 weeks. Each way. So how long was Lucas in Wyoming?
It's unfathomable for many of us the the time travel in late 1800s by horseback. Think of a wagon train from Missouri to California. At 6-10 miles day. Maybe. Months to go from Missouri to California. The dangers of Native Americans, water draught, horse deaths. People who died in journey. It's hard to think about in our spoiled world.
Remember Pony Express. Which lasted only a few months until telegraph was utilized. With earth batteries. The rider went as fast as possible for 15 miles or so, until next station. Still months to get a letter across this big country.
Chicago Fire: The Grand Gesture (2018)
Paramedic without fire engine?
In the State of Illinois, every paramedic is accompanied by a fire engine by law. For safety reasons, for one reason. I've talked to firefighters about this, even when my neighbor across the street had a paramedic called. The engine sat there with one fire fighter in engine, I talked with him.
Why dont the Chicago Fire writers realize this detail and fact?
As far as Gabby is concerned, I agree with all contributors. She is a narcissist b-ch with no charm. I'm glad she is gone. How did Casey ever love her? I loved Casey, he was my favorite character. He's flawed to have loved her and not realize she didn't love him back. Or was it just great sex?
The Andy Griffith Show: A Wife for Andy (1963)
Over the top
I agree with one other reviewer. Barney, in his attempt find Andy a wife, was obnoxious and over the top.
What kind of friend would do that...acting obnoxious and of course a know it all.
That's the writing that gave Don Knotts this character. Patronizing, full of himself and arrogant. In other episodes such as The Choir, Don Knotts was hilarious. He made this show in the first five seasons.
This episode was a but much. Inviting all these unsuspecting women to Andy's house. Not approving of Helen ( of course Andy did marry Helen). The writers made Barney look like a know it all jerk. Knowing more than Andy. Insensitive to Andy's and Helen's feelings.
Hawaii Five-0: Hookman (2013)
Danny ruined thus episode
Danny's constant nagging is annoying. Is this the writing or the directing or Scott Caan's poor acting ability?
Perhaps all three.
This behavior was constant through out the series. A lot of this is Scott Caan. A poor actor. His delivery is poor.
Overall, otherwise a great episode with Peter Weller out for his revenge. The technology engravingvthe bullets was interesting.
I did notice the initial wreck with funeral procession. Simple physics says the casket is not ejected backwards in the collision. That's a bad error. However, want the original episode have this same mistake?
A decent episode not having to resort to m achine gun fire.
The Rifleman: Dead Cold Cash (1960)
Ed Nelson
This was my favorite episode. I've seen it numerous times in last 50 yrs. A great story, keeps viewer to edge of my seat. And a great ending.
What made this episode special was Ed Nelson. One of the greatest character actors in that Era. He could play Stacy Belden with that goofy smile and burning eyes and of course his out west dialect. But Ed was just as good in The Untouchables playing a gangster. Talking like a gangster. And playing in straight up in Perry Mason. No goofy smile.
And of course Peyton Place. Dr Michael Rossi.
In that Era were many great actors. Tim O'Connor, Richard Anderson, Harold J Stone, Harold Gould. Many others.
Ed Nelson was the best. He appeared in three episodes of the Rifleman. All different characters.
M*A*S*H: Sons and Bowlers (1982)
Somber and hit the heart
The second most serious story about Hawkeye trying to get in touch with his dad really hit me. I was in tears.
I very recently lost my dad. The anguish Hawkeye went through, I did. I was sobbing.
I loved this episode. I loved how Charles lent his moral support. Fat chance Frank would ever had that kind of sensitivity.
The first story was prime comedy. Margaret was the champion, Potter was a poor coach but with good intentions.
William Lucking played his role well. A tough marine but with a moment of weakness. Hilarity. BTW, that drug does work. Urine becomes blue. It's used in fluroscopes.
The Rookies: The Hunting Ground (1975)
Vengeful cop.
Good writing. Typical suspense. Good acting by Sam Melville and Gerald O'Loughlin. Typical overacting by William Shatner.
M*A*S*H: Cementing Relationships (1980)
Concrete!
As stated in the other review, a good episode when the doctors tackle making a concrete floor along with Klinger's help.
I found it very comical that the writers have our crew using concrete and cement synomonously.
They were making a concrete floor. Cement is the bonding ingredient (along with aggregate and water) when making conctete
