Dong-chang-saeng (2013)
Good fight scenes but .....
The plot started out as intriguing. It originates from a power struggle between two rival North Korean spy rings. It would be good if the movie were to explore and explain why the two spy rings that serve the same master would kill each other off.
The fight scenes were good. But the most of the characters were two-dimensional and not well-developed.
Some of the decisions of the main character did not make sense. He tool up the spy mission to South Korea to save his sister who is held captive in North Korea. He befriended a South Korean girl who became more than just a friend. So, when his sister was brought to South Korea and safe with the South Korean authorities, why did he continue with his mission so that he can return to North Korea?
The director or script writer seem determined not to have a happy ending for this movie, even when there are ample opportunities to do so.
Yuyeolui eumagaelbeom (2019)
A movie for diehard romantics
The first half of the move started well. Two star-crossed lovers who seems to be kept apart by chance, timing or events outside their control.
However, I began to question why didn't they get back together sooner? During the years that they were apart, why didn't they see other people. The main characters don't seem to age during the years they were apart. (not enough work from the make-up department?)
There are other questions that were left unanswered. Like what happened to the relationship aspects of her life after she broke off with him?
In the end, if you want to enjoy this movie, you have to stop questioning the reality about this movie.

Promising start but....
The movie covers the lives of Korean people who lost loved ones in the Gwangju massacre. Promising start and built up to the finale. But the supposedly climactic ending was dragged out too long and I found that disappointing.
Hitsuji no ki (2017)
Promising start but weak ending
The story is quite promising but the executing of the movie did not deliver the suspense or black comedy. Six ex-convicts were re-settled in a Japanese coastal town where only a few people in the town knew about their past. The movie moved along slowly and could not build up the suspense. The characters of the six ex-convicts were also not fully developed.
When people started dying in the town, the identity of the killer quickly became quite clear to the audience, leading to an absence of suspense. But some of the actions of the killer, such as trying to strangle his girlfriend, are not clearly explained. Furthermore, the ending was somewhat predictable.
Lastly, there is hardly any connection between the movie title and the plot.
