Werewolves Within (2021)
Neither horror or comedy
This movie fails at almost everything.
It's not funny.
It's not scary.
The characters are dull, over the top and anoying.
The plot is predictable and you can guess who the werewolf is from the very start.
There's no werewolves until the last 5 minutes of the movie.
The only funny moment is how bad the werewolf looks, like a reject from Teen Wolf.
After about 20 minutes I had already lost interest and felt like skipping to the end.
The only redeemining factor was that it was well shot.
This was like an unfunny SNL sketch stretched into a full length movie.
Avoid this.
The Walking Dead: The Bridge (2018)
Even the paid reviews can't save this series now
Another dull soap opera episode with yet another avoidable zombie incident.
Seems like the formula for this season is lots of boring talking and exposition, completely unbelievable zombie deaths/injuries followed by one vaguely intriguing scene at the end to try and coax people into watching the next episode.
As far as TWD goes this is a 4 or 5 but I'm rating it a 2 to try and counter all the paid 10/10 reviews.
The Walking Dead: A New Beginning (2018)
Apocalyptic Soap Opera
What an explosive first episode to the new season....
This show really has become a soap opera. We start off with them scavenging for items and an obvious setup to show that someone will possibly die. The whole situation was ridiculous in every way. Obviously the only place you can find farming tools and a kayak is in a museum....
Then we have a kid we met 5 minutes ago that no one cares about dying in another stupid setup that was completely avoidable. They are running away from a tiny herd of zombies but as soon as the kid gets bitten they are miraculously able to kill them all with ease. Why they were running away in the first place is no one knows.
These people are supposed to be seasoned survivors yet they act like the zombie apocalypse happened just a few weeks ago.
Then we have a lot of talking about the same things they've talked about again again and again. It's all just filler at this point.
The only good part was that Gregory finally got killed off. Not because it was exciting or nice to see him go but because at least something happened in this dull, predictable and badly written episode.
TWD has been going downhill for a long time now and I don't think they can do anything to restore what originally made it good. The show is a perfect example of how you can take a good story and pad it out with boring rubbish just to try and stretch it over as many seasons as possible.
I'm one of those people that will keep watching just because I like to see things through to the end but it's becoming more of a chore with every new season. At this point I'm starting to look forward to it finishing.
Await Further Instructions (2018)
A budget Outer Limits episode stretched out into a movie.
This is not as bad as many reviewers state on here, it did keep me watching until the end but it is still by no means a good movie.
The acting ranges from ok to awful, the script has a lot of political and racial views injected into it that seem completely out of place. The budget was obviously pretty low but the entire movie takes place inside a house so it doesn't really show until the end when we get to see some pretty awful effects.
Overall it's a sub par sci-fi that would have been a lot more suited to a short film. This is like a half hour outer limits episode stretched out to a movie. It has some good moments and had an interesting idea but it was badly executed and it just didn't have the budget, actors or script to make it stand out.
I wouldn't recommend watching this unless it's on TV one night and you really want to see a movie and literally have nothing else to watch.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
I wish this was the last movie..
I wish I could wipe this movie from my memory. As well as the endless list of stupid plot points, bad writing and a total failure and disregard at handling the Star Wars universe and it's characters Disney also allowed the franchise to be used to try and push ridiculous feminist views.
All the male characters in this movie were made to look useless. Poe who was made out to be some kind of badass in the last movie is made to look like a bumbling idiot, the only time he does do something positive is at the end by finding a way out but they still have to be saved by Rey. Holdo just dismisses him as some sort of jumped up flyboy mansplaining her and in turn causes a mutiny and a large unneeded plot line. Chewbacca is nothing but a chauffeur, Luke is made out to be some kind of scared wimp who couldn't even show up to the fight himself to save his sister and friends. Finn is made out to be equally as useless and eventually needs to be rescued from being a hero and saving everyone by a woman. Even the first scene shows him falling about like an idiot. One of the greatest veteran commanders Admiral Ackbar went out without even being noticed in favour of some new female character no one has ever heard of or cares about to save the day. The dreadnought was taken out by the last remaining women on the bomber... it goes on and on. I'm all for equality between sexes but there is zero equality depicted in this movie.
The strong female characters they did have that were not shoehorned into the story were not used well at all. Phasma should have had a much larger more important role, Rey seemed to break all lore by suddenly becoming one of the strongest jedi we've ever seen without any training whatsoever. Lea who is one of the most well known and loved female heroes suddenly has ridiculous powers out of nowhere which made light of everything she had done. She should of died on the bridge leading the last remaining rebels or stayed to sacrifice herself instead of the purple haired women.
Everything about this movie failed, the only things I enjoyed was the cinematography and effects which should be a given anyway considering Disney's budget and the fact that it is Star Wars.
