Patsy & Loretta (2019)
Love this movie
I didn't expect to like this movie and I ended up loving it. Jessie and Megan absolutely nailed their parts. Listening to Jessie's Kentucky accent was mind-boggling - she sounds exactly like the folks from Eastern Kentucky (I live in Kentucky). Megan was absolutely incredible. She brought Patsy back to life - more so than Jessica Lange in Sweet Dreams or Beverly D'Angelo in Coal Miner's daughter. Love, love, love this movie and I am now a huge fan of Jessie and Megan.
Little Women (2019)
I wanted to love it....
I've read Little Women a dozen times and seen every film version so I was really looking forward to this movie. I just didn't love it. I hated the back-and-forth - it's the beginning of the Civil War and in the next scene it's after the Civil War and then it's back to the past again. I thought the cast was excellent (especially Florence and Timothy) but I still prefer the 1994 version.
Romeo & Juliet (2013)
A plague on the director of this farce
William Shakespeare is rolling in his grave. I didn't mind that they changed some of the dialogue to make it easier for today's audience to understand (because we know that today's audience members are too busy texting to actually learn anything about the original play) - what I do mind is the fact that this movie is a farce. Jousting for the beginning scene? Really? Romeo and Julie meet at a ball and just walk away and start making out? Really? I could go on - you get my drift. The movie sucks. P.S. A zillion actresses in the world and Hailey S. is cast as Juliet. Really?
