The Hills Run Red (2009)
*spoiler ish* poor execution
I'm sorry, but if you don't see what happens with an antagonist in the film, and you don't see what happens to a protagonist, that is a FAIL. They never show what happens to Serena and the antagonists that are killed are honestly predictable. Any "twists" were from far away.

6 Years (2015)
**Spoiler** This movie is only for the realistic
I've read other reviews of the movie. At least one blames the couple's issues solely on the girl for being codependent. This is a depiction of a COMPLETELY codependent couple. It is not one sided because they both have bouts with it. The ending is assumed, but unstated. Unlike a prior reviewer, I have more issue with Dan cheating than with her having a problem with it. The whole film isn't one of a boozy drug scene or of sex either. As someone who was in a young long term relationship where the other person was dependent on me I could relate to both sides. I just didn't get to experience nearly as much joy as they did from the relationship. My joy ended at 6 mo and the relationship was 3 yrs. Also, if they wanted to make this work, they could have...the movie cut where it didn't seem that they would, but left it to the viewer.
About Time (2013)
Seriously excellent film
My husband and I loved this film. We were both in tears at the end and found it highly relatable for different reasons. I won't ruin the movie by giving a play by play, but just know that it will take you through the full spectrum of emotions. The casting was wonderful and I love Bill Nighy as the dad. The movie is seriously a "must-watch" for anyone that has ever found himself not appreciating the wonders in their own lives. It's truly beautiful in its complexity, and I highly recommend the movie. I love this movie and it totally grasps the human part without being weird. The two leads are a fabulous wonderful couple, which is a lovely thing to see nowadays since that is rare. Tim and his dad have a wonderful relationship that could make anyone envious.
Lost for Life (2013)
Open mind is important - so is sense
The documentary was pretty standard. If you have common sense and watch the killers in each story, it's fairly obvious who was the "brains" or psychopath, and who actually has remorse. I know remorse doesn't matter to all, but it does to me. I'll let you draw your own conclusions, but it's there, and it's blatant. In one story (if you bother to look) one of the killers committed suicide in prison, while the other (the one who actually caused the deaths and is in the documentary) blatantly said he felt no remorse. Honestly, t can't feel much sympathy for many people who decide to take another life, regardless of age. There are a couple in this film, though, that I believe deserve a second chance...they also happen to be the ones not pandering for it.
Irréversible (2002)
This movie is not worth the sea-sickness in the first 20 min
I gave this movie a fair shake. I knew the basic premise without reading many reviews. If you're looking for a pseudo graphic rape scene, it's in there. There are parts of the film that are even slightly touching. There were unresolved questions about the fate of the baby (unless I missed something, though I assumed) and the fate of the mother. The cinematography made me nauseated early on and it was unnecessary for it to be that choppy. It could have been a decent film, but the writing didn't support a plot told in reverse, and neither did the actors. Overall, I think the film Would have been more compelling with a well thought out plot - whether in reverse or in chronological order. Also, I personally like all ends of a story tied up - that includes the fate of Alex and her baby.
Victim (2010)
Honest review - no psychology (the point)!and a waste of time
This movie was subpar. It started off with a seemingly (at least possibly) interesting plot and ended up with a dull dud. I won't spoil it for anyone who wants to see it (honestly, don't waste your time), but the ending of the movie wrecked any climax it was trying to build. There is no satisfaction in the way the plot line plays out or even in the cinematic effect the film is trying to create. The movie was pseudo-engaging until the climax (aka - last 10 minutes) which was, frankly, trite and made me want to punch myself in the face for watching. The "shock" ending was predictable. I absolutely don't enjoy films like "Hostel" as I think they're a waste of time and brain energy, and this falls in that category - although much less gory. If you want something that engages your brain, look elsewhere.
Battleship (2012)
Movie is a good effort for the intent
If you have a problem with CGI you won't like this movie, but how does one expect to see 3 destroyers blown up and part of Oahu without it? The movie makes no attempt to pretend it's anything more than it is...a fun action movie. I admit, I have a problem suspending disbelief sometimes (i.e. - the main character's entrance into the navy and quick ascent of rank), but that isn't the point. It's a character put in a position where he is in charge and doesn't want to be, but still rises to the task. Regardless of what people think representations of "intelligent life" from other planets may be, this movie represents one take on it.
The acting was decent/good, there were characters I liked and cared about, and it paid somewhat of an homage to those who served in the military in years past. If you're looking for an artsy type of film, this won't fit the bill, nor does it make an attempt to do so. However, if you enjoy action movies with many explosions and the underdogs "winning", you'd probably like this movie.
