The Immaculate Room (2022)
Good concept, subpar execution
This would have been a better watch if the characters were more realistic and likable. The conflicts and characters were both frankly annoying - I would hope most adults would have more self-awareness and better communication skills? The storyline was predictable - even the character development of stable and even keeled to losing it, chaotic and immature to sensible. It was also a little hard to believe that someone would start feeling/acting unhinged so quickly into the plot/timeline. A lot of the erratic behavior was hard to believe in or outside of the context of the rest of the plot. I have it 4 out of 10 stars.
Selena: The Series (2020)
Brings the 90s movie to a new height
I watch a lot of TV series. This is the first that I've felt strongly enough about to write a review. I grew up watching the Selena movie and this TV series did such a great job providing more context and evoking more empathy. I also appreciate how there was greater emphasis on the entire family. I sobbed during the last episode - that's when I know it's good TV. It left me wanting more and I listened to Selena on Spotify the entire night after finishing the series. Como la flor is on repeat in my head. Also, great casting!!
