Meg 2: The Trench (2023)
Dialogue Sinks Beneath the Waves
"Meg2" fails to rise above its predecessor, being dragged down by its abysmal dialogue quality. The film's incessant use of 'guys' and 'you guys' reaches new depths of annoyance, eclipsing any potential enjoyment. When faced with the colossal Megalodon, a character yells, "You guys, we need a plan, like now!" This laughable line exemplifies the script's inability to craft meaningful dialogue during crucial moments. The constant stream of 'guys', 'what are you doing here?', etc, is lazy writing, revealing a lack of effort in character development. Despite boasting impressive underwater visuals, "Meg2" fails to dive into meaningful conversations. The excessive use of 'guys' and 'you guys' dilutes any emotional impact the characters might have conveyed. It's like watching a shipwreck of potential unfold, as the film's attempts at drama and tension are lost in the sea of repetitiveness. In a sequel that should have evolved, "Meg2" instead regresses into dialogue mediocrity. The constant refrain of 'guys' makes it difficult to take the film seriously. It's disappointing to see a potentially thrilling movie sink due to its own verbal shortcomings. Brace yourself for a dialogue-heavy disaster, unless 'guys' is your favorite word.
Platonic (2023)
unwatchable
The series explores complex relationships and the intricacies of human connections. Unfortunately it falls short in handling product placements, alcohol use, and excessive "you guys" references. Platonic at times crosses the line by prioritizing blatant promotions over organic storytelling. It detracts from the immersive experience, leaving viewers feeling disconnected. Excessive portrayal of alcohol consumption as a means to cope or bond seems forced and lacks nuance. It perpetuates a shallow representation of social interactions. The incessant use of "you guys" as a catchphrase becomes tiresome, overshadowing the dialogue and undermining character development. It's all distraction from an otherwise promising series, leaving viewers longing for a more subtle and authentic approach.
They/Them/Us (2021)
ruined by constant 'you guys'
Super annoying. Would have been way better without every character calling everyone else 'you guys'. Filmmakers who think that little of the audience need to find another profession. The Pentaverate (2022)
run
Sorry i gave this a chance. One long not-even-remotely-funny butt 'joke'. Unbelievable dreck. Barf. Is Netflix on the way out? Will a billionaire buy & save it? Smh.
The Mind, Explained (2019)
covid injection propaganda
Season 2, episode five includes some strong pro-covid-injection propaganda. I wish i'd known to skip that part. They couldn't have made it more obvious.
Her Name Was Jo (2020)
awful
Unbearable music and too loud when there was also talking. Spoiler: she's with the friend she'd been traveling with when a woman from the child care place comes out & asks "what are you doing out here all alone?" and takes her inside. Either that woman left a 10 yo on the steps by herself (highly unlikely), or Jo had been traveling by herself the whole time (highly likely). It just hangs there, though, fitting for such poorly-executed filmmaking i suppose.
Our Friend (2019)
bad dialog & nonstop product placements
Just one big ad for sugar, junk, and booze. And bravo, way to talk down to the girls by calling them 'guys'. All around bad movie.
Security (2021)
lost in translation
Netflix's English dubbed version includes many "you guys" & "guys" referring to females. Google translate says 'you guys' translates to 'ustedes' in Italian, and 'ustedes' translates to 'your' in English. Is there an equivalent Italian word or term for this highly-annoying & degrading american word/term forced on us in the 70s? I don't think so.
100 Humans (2020)
100 'you guys'
Funny in parts, but ruined overall by incessant 'you guys' injections.
Dirty Money (2018)
Rupar in the Trump episode ruins it
Following his 'fine ppl on both sides' remark, Trump said he wasn't talking about neo-nazis as they should be condemned totally. We've been Rupar'd to death with this from every pro-war official in govt, 'news', and media. We don't need it from Netflix too. So what else in the series is misleading? Also, there's way too much filler throughout.
Boy Band (2018)
ZERO
Just awful. there should be harsh penalties for writing false reviews.
A House on a Hill (2001)
below-par TV fare
Very slow-paced, worse-than-average, apparent series pilot movie that obviously crashed & burned. it's for rent on Prime now with much worse streaming quality than SD. why did Amazon bother?
An Old Man's Gold (2012)
just no
Bad script. bad acting. just bad. really bad. really really bad. really really really bad.
Eye in the Sky (2015)
pure propaganda
Propaganda from a drone operator saying he had student debt & joining the air force provided 4 yrs of employment .. to the very end. read the Code Pink review. please.
Oprah Winfrey Presents: After Neverland (2019)
excellent discussion
Too many predators get away with what they do bc ppl don't understand, or they deny, what's discussed here. predators or enablers will naturally try to discredit this discussion.
Promises (2020)
awful
Couldn't be worse if they tried. any rating above zero doesn't even make sense.
Healing the Stupid (2013)
avoiding the stupid
Horrible script & acting. just the worst. horrible script & acting. just the worst.
