IF (I) (2024)

Cute and heartfelt

This was a fun movie. John Krasinski, who wrote and directed the movie - also stars as the father to the 12yo Bea.

While her father is in the hospital, she is staying with her grandmother in NYC.

Her grandmother appears to let her go at all hours of the day/night - with no questions about where she was. Which I lucky for her - because she gets to experience some interesting events, and meet some fun IF's. Ryan Reynolds' character was not so much center stage as he was MC adjacent. I wish he had been given a bigger role - and fleshed out some of the earlier scenes.

The message of the movie is nice, and the fun special effects really bring it to life. It's a wonderful thought to have your imaginary friends stay with you even as you age. I never had one, but I kind of wish I did.

Also, I will forever be saying, "Dammit Keith!!" When I trip over my own feet.

Argylle (2024)

Utterly ridiculous but fun
10 February 2024
So if you are going into this, you have to know it's gonna be a little campy. Similar to The Kingsman, there are moments of heart, action, and absolute craziness.

Some of the scenes were a bit much, but overall this was a fun, and Interesting movie. Some of the scenes were overly dramatic and we're similar to Deadpool's opening scenes as well.

The twists in the story were definitely different, came one after another. All of the actors were on point, and I loved the switches from Argyle to Real life. The worst part was the CGI cat. And I don't think Samuel Jackson said MFer once. I was shocked.

Ehhh

The personalities for characters Percy and Annabeth are so far off it hurts. I thought the big deal on this was that these actors were supposed to embody the characters so well, that looks didn't matter! Three episodes in and I'm not impressed. They made some weird changes to the story to shoehorn this snarky and combative new Percy in.

Percy starts off as whiney and clueless. No one is explaining things to him until he sounds like an idiot, and has stuck his foot in his mouth. He's rude, and not at all funny or caring about other people. Annabeth isn't supposed to be his best friend yet - but she is so hostile.

Whoever wrote the screenplays for these episodes needs to reread the source material.

The Aunty Em's storyline changes was a complete wasted disaster. I hope Disney would do better.

Did Mel Brooks really approve this??
3 September 2023
I am so disappointed by this. As a long time Mel Brooks fan, I have to say this show is...horrible as a continuation of The History of The World.

The jokes and skits for all of the events on this remind me more of the British show Horrible Histories - but with a bigger budget and marketing to adults. (Also, a fantastic history show, highly recommend) Which, if that's what they were going for - would be fine. Not as good, but fine. But let's not pretend it's anything like History of the World Part 1.

Nick Kroll and company have their moments, but overall I just can't get into the show. It's so ridiculous and Doesn't have the feel of the movie at all.

Cheesy and fun
13 November 2022
Super cheesy and fun. Exactly as expected, and with a little goodness and lighthearted antics. The cast was great, and you could tell they all had a great time making the film- which was good to see as well.

While the story is a lot like Overboard - It's a little less cringe and updated so that there is no real taking advantage - showing that there are still good people in the world. Probably the most unrealistic aspect of the movie in fact.

Cute story that is a step above a Hallmark Special. So - I basically loved it. Hahaha.

If you love cheesy, cute feel good movies, you'll probably love this one too.

It's just so bad

I wanted to love this show. I loved the old Walker Texas Ranger as a kid, and I adore Jared P. But..it was sooooo angsty and awful. I couldn't get past the 2nd episode. His kids were terrible, he was an awful person, and it just wasn't for me.
