Dark (2017)
First two seasons brilliant, then it goes down the drain.
Absolute masterpiece: storytelling, plot twists, suspense building, surrounding, acting, characters, music/sound effects. The third 10/10 I gave and it couldn't be more deserved.
Edit: A few adds for the ones who start watching: watch it in the original (German) language (+subs), makes it way more authentic. Don't watch before bedtime: you'll find yourself thinking things over. After a few episodes, take a minute or two after each ep. to think things over instead of during: almost every minute something mindblowing happens. Watch it with a clear head so you can familiarise yourself better with each character + to comprehend the shifting in time in a better way.
Edit 2: Watched the third season and downgraded the series by a full two points (should've been more if I'm honest). The first two seasons were absolutely brilliant, but the third is just utterly confusing and has some flaws if you think stuff through, or maybe not, perhaps that's the confusing part.
It seems like there wasn't an idea how to pick things up after season 2 (although I did like the way S3 started) nor it gave me a feeling how to come to an end (didn't knew it would end after three seasons btw), so they wrapped it up.
Things became more clear after the last two eps, but still, I have more questions than answers about the whole and especially what the h was going on in S3. Positive note on the third season was the Hanno character.
Absolutely not a waste to watch, but man, the serie plummeted with that third season despite the fact the potential was there.
S1-2:10/10, S3: 6/10. And with the latter I'm really being nice here, bcs the first two seasons deserve at least an 8/10 overall.
Irmandade (2019)
Among Brazilians finest, bro's
Movies like Tropa d'elite and Ciudade de Deus are one of my favourites, with the raw Brazilian mentality and how hard life can be over there. If you like those kind of movies, you'll like this series too.
Irmandade - the Brotherhood - is a terrific show with a great depiction of the mismanagement of Brazilian prisons. It also shows the great strength of people - if they are well organised - who want to fight aforementioned injustice. Very well told with some surprising twists.
Lost (2004)
Makes you want to get in a plane crash
A couple of years ago (way after everyone else saw it) I began watching this show and got me intrigued. It starts slow, which is no suprise but soon enough you'll get to know the characters (and their relations with each other) and what the place where they are is all about. And things get crazier and crazier...
At the moment I'm rewatching it, and still love it. There are some obvious flaws and sometimes cringy "feel good" moments but that's not a bother after all. And every time I hear the piano, I get goosebumps (especially when I think about the moment with Jack, Kate and Charlie..).
As per quality it isn't my favorite show (the quality I saw in shows like Sopranos, Peaky Blinders, BB/BCS), but as per the feeling and joy the show is giving me, it sure matches the aforementioned tv shows. And it definitely is in my top 10 all time.
Terrific show, beautiful characters and, above all, I wish I was there!
Final Space (2018)
Titan of a show
Final Space is a wonderfully created animation by Olan Rogers. First episodes requiere some patience because the main guy ("The Gary") is a bit "loud" (or annoying maybe) at first, but as the story evolves that's not a bother at all. The other characters gave me a good vibe as well.
People compare it with Rick and Morty and there are some resemblances with that show (i.e. it's an animated space series). But the pro of R&M is the great humor and the obnoxious but brilliant Rick, this show actually has more pros: it has a story and depth, it's beautifully made (space, Titans, magnificent) and does exceptional work with music.
A shoutout to the sixth episode of the first season, probably one of the best and most goosebumpy episodes I ever watched of any series. And for sure, you will be rewarded when you get at that point.
What a show.
