The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
I think they've done as much as they can without the rights to the silmarllion
Firstly I'd just like to say that this show is visually amazing, they've really outdone themselves.
But the most important thing in any show really is the plot, and even though I like it, and if you're not a harcore Tolkien fan this is very good, I believe it's missing alot. Most of what they did, they did right, but there's so many small details, and sometimes BIG details that they either ignore or just miss. Like the elves, who even though I believe they're beautifully done, the way they interact with eachother is not very faithful to the books, like how they talk to Galadriel, who's one of the oldest and most important elves at this time, how they seem to be a very hierarchical society when in reality they're really not at all, and many other things.
I also think, contrary to a lot of people, that they've actually rushed atleast the second half of the season. They skipped SO MANY important details in the relationships between characters, which I will not spoil, but in the book are very much deemed important. Especially in the last episode, where they did what could be an entire season in just one episode, making it look like just a day's events when in truth it was very important and critical plot that sets the tone to the rest of the story.
But again, it is very hard to work when they don't have the rights to the silmarillion and so I don't know if much of what I've said was done in order not to break any copyright material. So because I don't know how incredibly hard writing a story in those conditions might be, I do appreciate and acknowledge their work, and I believe they've actually done quite good at a task many would deem impossible.
So yeah, it's worth a watch.
Anatomy of a Scandal (2022)
I found it very captivating....
Many people think it to be boring or slow, but i did not in any way, actually I found it hard not to watch the next episode when I finished one. The camera work for me was fantastic, it really helped to immerse into the story.
Some people say some of it might be cliché and the plot condescending and I can't disagree, but I found it so captivating still, don't ask me why. The acting is superb, and that is not refutable.
The ending is quite anticlimactic, not the verdict, which I found to be extremely believable and fair given there was literally no evidence, but the actual ending - I don't know I just felt like it didn't stay I line with the rest of the plot.
As for the show overall, if you like a good drama, like me, you're going to get drawn into it like there's no tomorrow, and I really don't think it was slow at all. But sill, if drama's not your cup of tea, it might no be for you. It has some mistakes, some plot things that bug me, but I cannot in my righ mind give it any less than a 7.5 for all the rest.
Lie to Me: Secret Santa (2009)
I actually really liked this episode
I don't know why it's only a 7.6, or why the other review says it's a 5, but for me, this episode is actually among the best they made. Maybe it's because afghanistan is so overused on this type of shows, but that's exactly why I liked it. They took this concept of a mission in afghanistan or whatever that most crime shows end up having, and they made it their own, this isn't really the good against the bad, as much as it is the good in the bad, and the bad in the good. I really liked it, but that's my opinion.
Legion: Chapter 11 (2018)
I just find it annoying that...
This episode is really good, in fact, the whole show is, it's not for everyone I must say, I recognize it is made for a particular fan base. But for those who belong to that base, I at least find them to be masters at work. Some of their episodes are truly amazing.
But I've gotta say something about this episode, even thought the cinematographic side of it is mind blowing (like most episodes), I think the plot fails on some parts. Like, the whole point of this episode was to find the monk, who apparently had all the answers, but when David does find him, his finding is basically inconsequential to the whole show, as he gets no answers off of him, rants about how his girlfriend on two timelines needs this information to survive, instead of letting the man give him the answers, and then let's him throw himself off the building while standing 2 inches away from him and having extraordinary telepathic powers that could have saved him. Like, the whole point was to get the information this guy has, and the whole episode, David seems very determined to get it, but then when he gets there he just doesn't even try. Seems really convenient to the storyline but really bad plotwise. Kinda annoyed me and threw me off, but it's still an amazing show though.
This is the last scene but the rest of the episode is really good, so an 8 out of 10.
Lie to Me: A Perfect Score (2009)
I just rewatched this episode and I must say...
Besides brief, Steven Flynns performance was just brilliant here. The scene with Dr. Lightman in the room was spotless, and just about one of the most realistic displays of emotion by an actor I've seen, and I have seen a good share.
Cheers to him and of course to the usual suspects who also did an amazing job.
Dune (2021)
The movie is freaking amazing but...
It just puts too much focus on setting up a sequel that it forgets to be it's own movie.
I really loved all the visual effects and the cast, and with a little bit of mental gymnastics and engagement you could follow the plot. But the thing is, the whole movie just seems like the moments before a battle, where everything is focused on it, and then you find out the enemy is only attacking next year. I don't mind when movies set up a sequel, but setting it up can't be the whole point of the movie, it's gotta be it's own thing too.
This said the movie is still amazing and I recommend it and I will obviously be watching the sequel.
Community: Cooperative Polygraphy (2014)
Amazing...
This is one of the greatest episodes of the series. Made me laugh harder than i ever had during the previous season. Not only that, but the fact that the whole episode is set around a table comes to show the geniality of the writers. And also revives a great character that i thought was starting to be forgotten, Pierce. And once again gives a lesson about accepting and forgiving. Gave it a 10/10
