Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)

A mess

I love animation, I love superheroes and I really like Spiderman. I don't like this, ehh, movie at all - this is just a boring, uninspiring mess. Started skipping and ended up not watching the end.

The animation is terrible, the story telling is awful and you get no love for the characters. The first installment was much better. This should not have been connected to Spiderman, they are doing a good enough job destroying the character in the live action movies.

I hope this can contribute to destroying the marked for this kind of production. They need to get people who love the Spiderman and his story to make movies about him.

Wednesday (2022– )

Wednesday, not an Addams

Can't Hollywood keep to the winning script when making new material based on beloved characters? If they don't like the original they can make their own thing, but then don't steal name and major traits from something original and great.

Wednesday should be dark, but with sparkle. This one is more mainstream brat. It was easy to see that something was truly wrong in the first episode. The casting of Pugsley and Gomez shows that this is going to be bad, really bad.....

Old series and movies were great because they had an connection with the viewers. Sometimes the materiale will not age well and therfore not fit into today's scene. Trying to reinvent it to suit today's marked while still selling it to the people who liked the original, is in most cases a loose-loose scenario. Wednesday is the latter.

If you like the Addams Family - skip Wednesday. Nothing to see here except bad casting, bad script, lack of imagination and a tv and movie industry in free fall.

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

Parody

Don't do my mistake and think this is a Thor movie. It's a parody, like Hot Shots, Scary Movie and alike. My score is only low because I thought I was going to watch a Marvel Superhero movie. This movie is not for an audience that know and enjoy the Marvel univers and want a dose of good entertainment based on the comics.

Watch it for fun and see an alternative and cooky version of known characters and the producers imagination when introducing new ones.

Characters are kind of shallow and props seems kind of cheap. Plastic armor and plastic weapons - like those in B-movies, which this might be.

Waiting eagerly for movies based on the comics and sticking to the story - the original stories.

Ups and downs

Series tries too much at times. Political correctness is OK until you go over the top. Amy character ruins much of the show. Seems like she's suppose to be a hero, but actually she seems egotistical, small-minded and dumb - still things goes her way. Thus they try to build too much of the show on a shallow character with little charisma. This kind of show sells better if people get what they deserve. Still, many other likeable characters.

Resident Evil (2022)

Lower your expectations!

Maybe I would have given this one more star if they haven't misused the Resident Evil name. On the other hand, maybe I'm giving it one star too much because of the name.

This is b-acting with terrible plot. Unlikable characters and just a waste of time. The genre has much more to offer in a lot of other productions.

Forget this was ever made and move on with your life.

Moon Knight (2022)

Hard to find hope

I was looking forward to this show and the character, but this is a big letdown. After three episodes I'm still waiting for some sign that will enable me to keep hoping that this can end well. So far there is only bad acting, bad story, bad characters, bad dynamics - and they keep pounding the daylights out of any chance of this being anything other than a big waste of time. So far I hate the character and I'm terrified that they won't kill off the lame sidekick. Hope that the next episodes isn't fast forward material - like the first ones.

Each Bond movie with Brosnan and Craig I asked myself - was this the movie where they finally ruined the franchise. This time I didn't - even though this may be the worst Bond movie ever, I think the sum of movies with Craig already has destroyed Bond. They can't do worse. They have taken everything good with the series and twisted it into rubbish. M, Q, Spectre, Felix and Bond himself - all utter crap now. Forgettable, mainstream and no character anymore. Want to see a Bond movie - see something with Dalton or earlier. Myself, I would go for Connery.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024)

Worst in the series

Bad acting, not credible characters and just tragic. This smells of main stream production and the usual disgusting political correctness that ruins good source material in many movies/series. I guess the next series of the franchise stars a 15 year old admiral with a crew like the cast of Gossip Girls and gives us much of the same action as in the latter - but this time in space. I suggest revisiting TNG instead of wasting time on Discovery.

The King's Man (2021)

Lots of potential, poor result

Kingsman had James Bond potential. In addition they build upon major happenings in history. Still this is an epic fail. Boring movie without any nerve or soul. Just boring and I ended up playing with my phone waiting for it to end.

Batman: Soul of the Dragon (2021)

Forget about Batman and enjoy the movie

As a Batman movie this is a two star experience at best. If you strip off the costume it isn't half bad. They shouldn't misuse the Bat brand this way - especially when the movie could stand by its own right.

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

Forgettable

I watched this movie for a second time and didn't realize before half way through that I already had seen it. I grew up reading comics and I enjoy good movies based on such - but this is not a good movie. Iron man, Guardians and Ant man - all have great movies and the start of Avengers also brought something exciting. Endgame is boring, lacks imagination and feels like a neverending wait for it to end. The main problem is that they try to make it epic and over the top righteous - and succeed cutting all emotional ties to the audience. See it so you can talk of it, but prepare to fast forward, fall asleep or a me - forget that you have seen it.

Captain Marvel (2019)

Such a waste

In this movie they destroy a lot of good material. They introduce two major evil forces - The Kree and The Scrull - and do so very poorly. They even make up some bleeding heart story about the Scrull instead of portraying them as the invasive force they are in the galaxy. I hope they correct this later on. The Scrull invasion of earth deserved a movie on its own.

In addition Miss Marvel is also a disaster. Wrong person is used for the role and the script is just shameful. They could have introduced a valuable and powerful addition to this universe instead of giving us this shallow shell of a character.

This show has one thing going for it - Spader. Regrettably the producers focus too much on an uninteresting and annoying character. I dream of a new show concentrating on the time before the pesty and unlikable character of Elisabeth was introduced or at least only show here when she is talking to Redington. Nevertheless - Spader and his companions makes this show bingeworthy.

Warrior Nun (2020–2022)

No soul

Nothing to see here - move it along. I can't get a grip of what kind of process they had before making this. Ok - they have a idea - a nun and something about good and evil - and then they had none. Weak story, weak acting and nothing to convey.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)

Franchise killer

Feels kind of like Sharknado, but I don't think that's their intention. Recognizable actors deliver something that feels very much like b-acting. No story, no feel for the characters and no suspense. Just keep hoping this movie don't destroy future releases with characters from this univers. They should really make a movie about Godzilla.... a good one.

The Wire (2002–2008)

Watch two or at most three seasons

It starts as a interesting cop show and the first seasons deserve a change. As seasons go by the intro music goes from great to not so much - and the show follows suit. It looses its way and try to be a champion of moral. Suddenly cops are not so interesting anymore and you are watching a social commentary about school children and corrupt politicians. The show shall have that it's hard to place. They kill off people you are rooting for while most of the major villains go free. If you think this is a spoiler I can assure you will never guess what I'm saying.

Devs (2020)

Pretentious mumbo jumbo

If you like wasting your time this is for you. Characters are totally unrelatable and the story is uninspirable. Fast forwarding may give this some promise, but the season will only last one hour. Some wannabe philosophers may say that not everyone is ready for the depth of it, but these are like wine experts - full of it.
