Delhi Crime (2019)
This is one hell of a ride!!
Just completed Delhi Crime, and to say the least this is one gripping adaptation of one gruesome and ghastly act which shook the entire nation. I have only one word "Mind Blowing". This is one hair raising and I am not using metaphor here. You can feel it as I went numb quite a few times .
And kudos to Richie Mehta who worked for 4 years and created this master piece. More importantly, it's not only the story and direction but the wise selection of actors who played their part with utmost sincerity.
The entire span of fantastic actors, be it new IPS trainee or the Doctor treating Deepika or the SHO, every one did phenomenal job. The stand out actor and the star, the show stealer is "Shefali Shah". What a stellar performance!. She literally nailed it and brought to life the role of Vartika Chaturvedi. I am not sure how else this role could have been essayed without her. Not to forget she is a national award winning actor.
This is one of fine pieces of series India has ever created and I am currently falling lack of words to praise how brilliantly the entire series has worked out.
If you are still thinking, forget everything and spare some time for this spectacular ride.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
The Shawshank Redemption - A treat to watch
'The more I know, the more I come to know, how less I know'. After watching thousands of movies and having some hundreds with me currently. I found 'The Shawshank Redemption' now. I have been avoiding this for some time, thinking that it would be another usual prison drama stuff. But since, IMDb had top rating, nominated for 7 Oscars, and some good reviews.
OMG what a movie- Amazing, how you get entangled in a web of deceit, and proving yourself innocent among those master treacherous is nothing less than impossible. Here how Hope takes charge and this proves when Morgan Freeman says at last "Some birds are not to be caged as their feathers are just too bright". Tim Robbins in role of Andy Dufresne is excellent in 'silent intellect on work' profile. Morgan freeman is not a surprise in "Red" as I have always liked his acting and not to forget his convincing voice.
On first viewing it is the story of Andy Dufresne and his struggle to maintain hope despite his circumstances. However, this is really a movie about Red and his struggle to find meaning and purpose. The final segment of the movie testifies to the fact that the final resolution of the story comes about only when Red is faced with the same fearful situation as Brooks. Because of Andy, Red can find a different path-the path of freedom that is lit by hope.
The only other movie which I liked that far is "Forest Gump" and incidentally this was also released in 1994. If this doesn't say enough, set aside a little over two hours tonight and rent this movie. You will finally understand what everyone is talking about and you will understand why this is my tie with Forest Gump.
Natsamrat (2016)
Finest piece of Indian Cinema
Enough has been said about Natsamrat but I will add my bit. Nana Patekar has given a new dimension to Indian cinema.Other actors viz Medha Manjrekar, Vikram Gokhle are also fantastic. To say more in few words: This is cinematic marvel, a Gem, a Masterpiece. Comparing this movie to any other movie is frivolous. It's heart wrenching, painful, and will surely make you teary eyed. Just take out two hours and watch this absolute cinematic brilliance.
Kudos to Mahesh Manjerakar too for the direction.
A perfect 10 on 10
