Kübra (2024)
Gripping
Was really entertaining. It had a good ending, was satisfying u like ridiculous American made series who end up in the air because writers complicate things wo much they do not know how to conclude like Lost or Mr Robot, or it all ends up as a dream. Not this one. Spoiler alert here: think before you read here :-) it had bit of an eagle eye movie resemblance in the end, but I absolutely enjoyed it. Religion aspect is a nice twist as I was not expecting it at all. Considering how American aeries are stretched with side stories and how they drag, this ended pretty abruptly. They could have built up to the ending. Last episode was for 35 min and all got concluded in a jiffy.
Barbarian (2022)
Usual ending disappointment
What is wrong with movies these day? An original and enticing start with lousy endings. Not related to this one but I am in general done with movies where protagonist wakes up only to see it was just a dream.

Asiklar Bayrami (2022)
Innocence lost, Turkiye.
Very unexpected gem of a piece. Festival of Troubadours. You see a part of Turkey that is not the glitzy Istanbul or Bodrum or Izmir, etc. Some scenes reminded me of surreal locations in Gozu of Takashi Miike. It has a strange therapeutic feel to it this movie, gets you into a nihilistic mood, but still with a dash of hope somehow. Bare mountains and at times green valleys with half dried out river streams add to the melancholy. A slow, 90min ride of a son and a dying troubadour dad suddenly showing up after 25 years of disappearance. Lost love, lives and nothing but a subtle ode to Asik Veysel and maybe real Turkish spirit of innocence long lost these days.
The Batman (2022)
Dark with forced artificial acting
A total nolan wannabe effort. In all seriousness with dark scenes, Robert's acting to me was the reason why this was a ruined effort. Came across pretentious, trying to look cool movie. I did not like it at all, possibly the most erratically longest and pointless Batman movie ever. They have forced this movie into being like a newgen james bond movie where it is starting to look like a not gadget focused spy movie like movie by making it look like a serious villain movie by trying to isolate it from its comic book origins and it looks so tactical vs real.
A batman movies fan all the way, though did not like this. Watching riddler was a torture.
Club scenes had that authentic dark underground club fee. That was amazing, as well as the music.
Voices of Fire (2020)
This Music is Cross Religion Deep
As a Turkish Muslim, I am a testimony by saying that this music is cross religion deep and it can be universally felt with respect and sentimentality. Stars of Faith concert in Istanbul Rumelihisari Castle back in the day have blown me away, cannot forget still. They were in tears singing their souls all over the sky, so were we. It was an impossible not to not feel something special moment for the audience. This amazing series brought the memories back. When you are in presence of depth of heavenly talent, you are in presence of something unforgivingly magical. That talent resides everywhere awaiting to be given an ear. Voices of fire, voices on fire. Loved it. Thank you.
