Phantom (I) (2015)

Don't listen to the low ratings

this is a good movie. Not great , not a classic , but a nice entertaining fantasy.

I am a Pakistani and I cried when I watched the 26/11 murders. Made my heart break as to how inhuman , humans can be.

So this whole Pakistani / Indian thing can be ignored ...nothing to do with you and me and watching this movie. It's a decent well made movie , good time pass. And I can understand the emotions. Same emotions I felt when the school children were murdered in Pakistan , same when 9/11 happened and so on. Certainly not a movie made from a bad place but a fantasy for the relatives of all the poor innocents who died then.

Well worth taking the pride of the ticket ...

From the trailers and songs , most of the movie is sorta guessed at. A sad / tragic love story , the question remains it has been handled well by the scriptwriters , the director etc.

The answer is a resounding yes. This is Mohit Suri's forte and he has elicited a fantastic performance from Emraan , Vidya. In particular this is Emraan's movie , his eyes speak volumes in his scenes.

The music is well placed.

The characters are not black or white , but grey, with their self motivations.

It's worth the money of the ticket. Go for it ...

Definitely worth the watch...much better than some of,,,

Definitely worth the watch....i was reluctant to watch it since some of the reviews were quite bad, but the Mrs is a big John fan, so had to watch it and I actually didn't at any time get distracted and felt the need to play on my iPhone or anything. It is certainly much better than some of the asinine movies coming out of Bollywood ( here looking at you Akshay Kumar who makes way too many movies and whose last few movies were barely watchable,oh god , Khatha Metha made me feel like killing myself for wasting 2 hrs of my life!).

John does a good job ( much better than I would have expected and the director has been smart by having a good ensemble built up around him of actors who complement him and keep the momentum going. Only negative is that the script could have probably done with a little more tweaking, but nevertheless a good effort and something different from Bollywood. Would definitely recommend this....

Completely Paisa Vasool ( fully worth the Euro 10.50 !!)

Warning: Spoilers
Read the really bad reviews all over the news from indiafm etc etc. But come on, this is a Akshay Kumar movie. Over the last couple of years from the Khiladi movies to the Heera Pheeri movies to the Singh is King ( urban myth has it that the producer came up with the title first off a truck bumper sticker and then the story!) to this and we have all watched those and loved them, and this movie fits exactly into all of those.

Akshay Kumar is the true successor to the Bachchan of the 80s and 70s ( the Namak Halal, the AAA days!).

As everyone knows AK plays a chef who is mistaken for the reincarnation of Leing Shung ( famous Chinese legend who protected China on the Great Wall of China) and is taken off to China to save a village from Hujo.

Along the way he runs into Deepika who plays twin sisters ( and after a while an Indian actress has a substantial role in a time pass movie!, been a while since movies have had twin sisters, amnesia etc etc), falls in love, loses a family member and finally defeats the villain.

Go and watch this movie, it is well worth the time being spent.

( the caveat being : if you are in a mood for A Wednesday, Mumbai Meri Jaan , KKKG , KKHH, go watch Che Part 1 or Twilight or the Reader instead. If not go watch this , its a great 2.5 hours ).
