Lucky Number Slevin (2006)

Good but not GREAT. Early Summer Movie.

7.5 out of 10 I thought this movie was good but not great. In the beginning it kicks off a little strange. Your thrown for a loop and if you reach down for some popcorn you could miss a crucial part of the movie.

The acting in the movie was good, I mean typical. There weren't very many diverse, difficult, emotional roles to play. There is just your typical movie villains / mob bosses / assassins that you would see in any other movie, only that they are well know expensive ones (ie. Bruce Willis).

The movie does have a twist here and there and eventually all the turmoil makes sense but the twist doesn't leave you speechless like an M. Night Shamalan movie would. It is predictably unpredictable as like most new movies out there. I think I might dip back into my old VHS's again to find something great to watch. This was just good.

Wedding Crashers (2005)

One of the Funniest Movies Ever

This movie was even funnier than I expected it to be. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are a GREAT tag team as the "Wedding Crashers". Great acting on everyones part and I laughed all the way through it.

If you like the SNL / "Old School" / Will Ferrell style humor than you well die laughing after seeing this movie. And if you don't die, you will get back up and watch the movie again.

Also, the romantic story lines definitely make this a great date movie. It is a hilarious movie with a moral message. This movie makes you feel good, and you don't regret spending the money.

Buy this movie. If you liked it as much as I did you will watch it consistently, forever.

King Kong (2005)

Great Effects / Predictabley Long Peter Jackson Movie

I really enjoyed this movie. Everyone from Naomi Watts to Jack Black did a great job in this film. Kong looked amazing, and all the special effects on were amazing as well. Although I expected this to be a wild, action filled, Hollywood graphics movie, it did end up having great development / chemistry of the less hairy actors.

Overall this movie is a must see, I mean, its King Kong but here are some of the draw backs...

-Movie is predictable, obviously -Inconsistent Time frame (one thing takes 1 hour, equal event takes 10 Seconds) -Small Plot Holes

but my biggest pet peeve is that Peter Jackson makes these movies so darn long that I will never watch it ever again. To watch this movie again you must put aside an additional 3 Hours for a movie I have already seen.

So I say watch it but don't buy it. How many 3 hour sessions do you have for Kong?

Basic Instinct 2 (2006)

Not THAT bad but not nearly as good as the original

A lot of people are tearing up this film. Although I didn't think it was a great, I didn't think it should be thrown into the same bin as Gigli.

The movie is somewhat predictably unpredictable which is either a good or a bad thing. Sharon Stone does a good job bringing her character back to life although the performance seemed somewhat repetitive.

The thing this movie did best was building up sexual tension between characters. From beginning to end you could cut the tension with a knife. Very real and raw, even with the acting being sub-par.

I was moderately entertained, yet I did look at my watch a few times. I am by no means saying this is a great film, but if your looking for something risky, sexual, raw, entertaining at times, and completely different than whats out there, then this is the movie to see.
