Do Revenge (2022)
Cool teen drama with queer representation
The best comedy/drama movie for me is when it manages to both be funny/entertaining and deep.
Honestly the reason I started watching it in the first place was lesbian protagonist Eleanor (not really a spoiler since it's revealed in the trailer). She's incredible (and so so pretty and smart). And she is living and breathing person with her own faults and mistakes.
It tackles a lot of complicated issues and does so in a good way. How teenagers can be cruel for no reason whatsoever. How destructive revenge is. How biased society's attitude towards women is.
The main theme is surprisingly forgiveness. Both seaking forgiveness and forgiving. And I loved how it dealt with s lot of bad things done by the characters. Also most of them are very morally grey. Not being punished and consecuently hardened by it but realizing their mistakes and try to fix them.
The only issue I had with it was pretending. All the characters seem really good at pretending to the point that sometimes it's difficult to tell if they are being real or not.
Vampire in the Garden (2022)
Love destroyed by hatred
There was no possibility I could dislike vampire lesbian love story. And I did like it.
Vampires and Humans fight with one another. And a vampire and a human fall in love with each other. Both fractions wanna separate them "for their own good". There is absolutely no way the story of the story ending with happily ever after.
Both protagonists are cool and trully commited to the relationship they have. They are willing to do whatever it takes to be together.
(It has this USSR aestetic but thanksfully they didn't go deep into it bec the Russian in this anime is horrible).
Bienvenidos a Edén (2022)
The show needs season 2 otherwise it doesn't make any sense
The show features lots of different characters, but there's simply not enough time to show them all. Some of the straight romances feel forced. It does pretty good job with what it has. Still I kinda wish it had less characters but they were more complex. Honestly after finishing the show I don't remember half of them.
The ending doesn't make any sense like they didn't explain any of the mysteries of the island. There are lots of hints but nothing certain.
I watched it for like 4 pairings. There is a GOOD love triangle, and 2 very well written homosexual pairings. And the way they are shown... It's so good.
Heartstopper (2022)
Cool gay story
Honestly I didn't know much about it (apart from it being gay) before I started. I didn't read webtoon or anything.
I loved the show. (Especially the part where all the xenophobes get what they deserve). I loved the characters. They all need a hug.
Nick who is trying to behave like straight people do despite it hurting him. He doesn't have the courage to come out.
Charlie who is openly gay and thinks his *existence* is bothering people too much. And his favourite word being "sorry".
Tao whose biggest fear is being left alone and who is *terrified* of telling the girl he loves how much she means for him.
Elle who is nervous of moving schools mid-term. And she can't tell the guy she loves of her feelings afraid "to ruin the friendship".
I can't tell much of the plot without spoiling it. I cried many times bec it's so cute. ðŸ˜
