Luther: Episode #5.4 (2019)
A truly remarkable episode.
Anyone who knows me understands how much I love this show. This season is possibly my favourite of them all. Episode 3 in particular was amazing but this episode was also amazing. I can't decide whether I hope this is the final episode or not as it is a high note and would end the show with dignity. Although I feel sad about how the show ended for John and Alice. Epic season and excellent intriguing end. I don't know how they could continue after this.
Luther: Episode #5.3 (2019)
Possibly the best episode they've ever done.
Wow. That episode was gripping from start to finish. The second half especially made me tell at the tv. Without a doubt the best episode since season 3.
Luther: Episode #5.1 (2019)
Absolutely superb!
Everything about this episode is classic Luther. Subtle tension was extremely strong and gripping and the script was awesome and so was the acting. Amazing debut episode for series 5 and well worth the 3 year wait. Also the ending was so good.
Arrested Development: Unexpected Company (2019)
Without a doubt the best episode to date
What can I say about this episode. I Just love it. So freakily good. Make Arrested Great Again. Brilliant.
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018)
TV history
Very engaging, mind bending, frightening and even funny if you pick the right path. I think I just witnessed TV history and I certainly hope to see more TV movies and episodes like this in the future.
BoJack Horseman: The Stopped Show (2018)
Strong season and episode
Overall season 5 was another good one. My favourite episode was Free Churro, it was unique, original and masterfully done. I wasn't a massive fan of Mr Peanutbutter's storyline for this season as I found his girlfriend annoying as hell. I was also predicting MP and Diane to get back together but it never happened, i guess that's another thing that this show stands for: life does not always have happy endings. Im glad Bojack is getting help, all we need now is for Diane to get help.
BoJack Horseman: The Showstopper (2018)
Truly depressing
The worst thing he's done. What if they hadn't stopped him? How far will he go? This question hits hard in both Escape from LA and here. The classic Bojack spin on episode 11 is here. Truly nauseating. But good sign for Diane and Mr Peanutbutter, fingers crossed for them. But Bojack is now past the point of no return.
BoJack Horseman: Head in the Clouds (2018)
Sad
The classic Bojack depression that comes with this show hits hard with this episode. And as episode 11 is next i can only predict it'll get worse.
BoJack Horseman: Ancient History (2018)
Self destruction
Good to see Holy Hawk and Dr Hu again in the season. This season seems to be bringing back lots of old characters: blackmail birds, anna, two masked girls from Herb Kazzaz episode in season 1 were in the last episode, Holy Hawk and Dr Hu. Good episode which yet again shows Bojack's self destructive nature.
BoJack Horseman: Mr. Peanutbutter's Boos (2018)
Solid Mr Peanutbutter episode
Diverts away from previous narration at the end of the last episode but still a good episode. Excellent storytelling as per usual as the different parties are all cut together. Ending gives us hope for Diane and Mr Peanutbutter's inevitably getting back together.
BoJack Horseman: Free Churro (2018)
Unique, Masterful, Brilliant!
This is such a unique episode. The writers of this show really love taking risks and somehow they keep paying off. This episode starts with a flashback and then moves onto a 20 minute monologue from Will Arnett. No other actor speaks in the entire episode. Somehow Arnett carries the episode as, at a premise, this episode would seem boring. But I was hooked on every word he said. Funny, depressing and truly heartbreaking. I don't know how this show can pull this off. And neither does anyone else.
BoJack Horseman: The Amelia Earhart Story (2018)
Masterful story-telling
The thing ive gathered about Bojack Horseman is that the stories it tells have been told before. It's not the stories it tells that sells the show though, it is the way they are told. This episode shows us the tragic backstory of one of the main characters. It shows the struggles of PC's life and ultimately the sad side of it too. Good episode.
BoJack Horseman: BoJack the Feminist (2018)
How do you make something right?
'How do you make something right? When youve made it so wrong.' This episode of Bojack was a different one as instead on continueing the season's narrative it strayed away into different story lines. Up until the final moments where the truth of Bojack's regrets in Escape from LA are revealed to Diane. The episode has brought the gang back together as now PC, BJ, MP and Diane will be working together again. This episode also brought back characters ranging from season 1-3: the bird photographers seen in season 1 blackmailing Bojack, Anna and the reporter guy. This was all in all a good episode continueing and thickening the plot.
BoJack Horseman: Planned Obsolescence (2018)
Hooray! A Todd episode!
Im glad the focus was mainly on Todd this episode as he is possibly the most comedic and wacky character. This episode was extremely funny and bridged the gap between the depressing last episode and the rest of the season. Although features of sadness are still there this episode was mainly comedic and i couldnt be happier! Hooray! Fantastic!
BoJack Horseman: The Dog Days Are Over (2018)
Hopeful
The evolution of Diane and Mr Peanutbutter started from the first season. I found it weird seeing Mr Peanut butter kissing the other woman/dog as it hasnt been shown since the beginning of the show. I am hopeful that Diane and Mr Peanutbutter get back together. This episodes narrative focuses on Diane and the story is masterfully told. A strong continuation of what appears to be 'a sensational season of television'... so far
BoJack Horseman: The Light Bulb Scene (2018)
A Strong Debut
A strong debut for season 5. Perfectly balances comedy with classic Bojack depression whilst constantly moving the story forwards. A strong start to what i hope is a strong season.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang Makes Paddy's Great Again (2018)
The Boys Are Back In Town!
The worry for 'It's Always Sunny In Philidelphia' is that it will overstay it's welcome, running longer than any other live action comedy. The premiere episode for season 13 was an odd one. Filled with dark crude humour that the show is known for and also meta jokes that have been in the show since the beginning. In this episode, written by the brilliant David Hornsby, balances the combination of meta jokes and dark humour perfectly. I will admit, personally, the episode felt stale until the return of Glenn Howerton's character: Dennis Reynolds. Something felt off, even though I laughed at the crude humour of the sex doll and the reptition of "Is Mac shooting his loads into it?" The episode didn't feel right until the return of Dennis and the completion of the gang. Mindy Kaling does not fit in with the show. Her character felt forced, but this again is an example of the meta jokes in this episode. The fact that sitcoms constantly try to reinvent themselves by adding new characters but ultimately it goes downhill. The moment Dennis returned a smile clung to my face for the rest of the episode and a long time after that. His return was perfect. He fixed the episode. Without him, the episode would'nt be half the episode it was. I guess the boys are really back in town.
Sneaky Pete: The Sinister Hotel Room Mystery (2018)
Perfect Return For The Perfect Show
Sneaky Pete season 1 was amazing. Brilliant. The return knocks it out of the park. The suspense is higher than ever. The risk is higher than ever. Giovanni Ribisi acting is superb, alongside all the other actors. The return follows directly after the cliff-hanger of the first season, meaning that the first season and the second season are all within 2 weeks. This idea is brilliant. The story is fantastic. The acting is superb. The writing is golden. No better way to start a new season of an already fantastic show!
