Nineteen Summers (2019)
True to life storytelling.
A raw, coming of age indie film that is "true grit to the bone," with a bold statement that is so powerful that it touches you the core. It's straight forward approach and true to life storytelling is what makes it stand out from all the others in its genre. Nineteen Summers is one of those films that will be talked about for years to come.
Are You Glad I'm Here (2018)
Truly worthy of one's attention.
A very sincere, unique and emotionally compelling story that leaves a deep impression on the heart. The film carefully touches on the complexities of friendships, marriages, cultures and life, in such a powerful way that is truly worthy of one's attention. Stories like these are of vital importance to the culture of storytelling in films, further giving light and understanding to such issues that are played out in this dramatic masterpiece. Very well done. Favorably recommended.
This Is Meg (2017)
An extremely fun and amusing film to watch
A fantastically tickle me funny comedy that follows a comedienne (Meg) as she adamantly rejects having to adapt to new ways of promoting herself in the industry, as she constantly struggles to make her mark in todays "façade" of hyped-up social media madness. It's definitely an amusing film to watch, no doubt about it.
Find Me (2018)
Yeah. Not for me.
I don't want to give a bad review or insult the team of people who worked hard to make this film for no reason. All i have to say is, sorry, it's just not my type of movie. That's all.
Tag Team Truckers (2018)
Very humorous and genuinely entertaining.
Benny asks his girlfriend to marry him with a ten dollar ring that he bought at flea market, she rejects him and kicks him out, then he later ends up losing his job and has to move in with his OCD brother Dom, who is constantly annoyed by Benny's exasperating habits and ways. The college drop out (Benny) tries to search for work but fails at convincing anyone to hire him. He convinces Dom to go along with him on a small venture as partners and that's when it all becomes very interesting.
It was a very humorous and entertaining film for sure. I laughed a lot, especially with Benny's peculiar character mannerisms and the moment to moment conversations with his brother. Great chemistry between them. My favorite part that had me cracking up, was when he first gets the dog and says, Want to be part of my biker gang? And we see the chihuahua's face. Haha. That was hilarious.
To be honest, I was thinking that it was going to be another bad movie full of boring moments and silly dialogue but it wasn't. It was pretty well written and the entire story flowed well. I also loved the music in the opening credits scenes. Pretty nice.
Overall, it was a cool film to watch. Recommend.
Silent Panic (2018)
An intriguing and emotionally compelling indie film
An intriguing and emotionally compelling indie film, filled with suspenseful thrills and moments of tension that keep your eyes adhered to the screen. It definitely makes you contemplate deeply on the "what if" one was put in a situation like this, and what would be the final outcome of it, whether it be good or bad.
Nice little watch on a weekend night.
Ring Ring (2019)
Super funny, insanely trippy and suspenseful all in one.
Coworkers Will, Amber and Jason, come up with a quick felonious scheme to make money by stealing a golden client list from their boss Daniel, after he lets them go from their jobs. But after a night out of boozing, Will'ends up losing the phone with the list and things quickly take a turn for the worst, when they're led to some suspicious address by some strange, screwed up, method smoking, weirdo who ends up...... Well, let's just say that you're going to have to see it for yourselves.
I did enjoy watching this film. It was super funny, insanely trippy and suspenseful all in one. Most definitely worth the watch.
Sincerely, Brenda (2018)
Truthful and Authentic Storytelling.
A very powerful and poignant story that gently touches the heart to the inner core. We need more stories of self awareness and redemption like 'Sincerely Brenda,' that are truthful and authentic in it's storytelling, rather than the watered downed versions that are currently out there. Definitely a worthy independent film to watch. Thumbs up.
Bigger Than the Game (2018)
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
What an awe inspiring story! This film has so much heart and faith to it. The entire struggle that these kids go through and the pressure that is put on their shoulders for them to be the best at their sport is portrayed realistically well here. There were many scenes that made me tear (from allergies of course...) Also, I have to say that Rockey Black did a superb job playing as the coach along with the cast of players. The female writer/director Janaya Black is just plain brilliant. The best part of this film that I enjoyed the most, is when God/Jesus is introduced during the height of conflict. For me, it was just pure icing on the cake for me. Very well done. RECOMMEND. *****
8 Remains (2018)
An intriguing film to watch
A poetic story that's vividly colorful with visual effects that draw you into the screen and further into another world. Tally is stuck between realms as she fights to saeve herself from being smothered by her romantic, yet crazed lover, who himself holds a plethora of secrets later revealed through a montage of flashbacks all intertwined, leading to an unexpected outcome.
All in all, I found this Film to be very intriguing to watch minus just a few minute moments which could have been better. But other than that, I enjoyed it.
I'd recommend giving it a view and judging it for yourselves.
The Trade (2017)
Wildly Intense and straight up bold.
Wildly Intense and straight up bold. This documentary gets right in your face and doesn't hold anything back. First time I hear about wrestler Nick Mondo's life and I was quite taken by his story right away. Very intriguing. It's a must watch for sure.
Hostiles (2017)
An exemplary work of Film.
I recently saw this Film online and I was immediately stuck to the screen from beginning to end. Hats down to Scott Cooper for taking the most amazing writer Donal E Stewart's work and making it a reality on big screen. I am positive that if he were alive today, he would have been overjoyed to see such a masterpiece of a Film.
The most important thing I must to not out here is how love was portrayed through out the Film. In a world full of hate and cruelty, sometimes we allow anger to kick in as a defense mechanism but when you are put in a situation such as the characters in the Film, your blinders begin to fall off and the truth starts to set in. I loved this Film for this sole reason and consider it to be one (if not the best) in 2018 though it was released in 2017.
The silent moments between the characters show that you do not need to say a word to convey what you are thinking of saying, the pure human emotion and facial expressions say it all for you. The ending was the best movie ending I have seen since watching movies from the 70's and 80's when they still had (human) feelings, rather than today's reliance on CGI and sound SFX to prove ego over human emotion.
'Hostiles' gave me a sense of new hope in Motion Pictures and I hope that many new Filmmakers follow this path and keep it alive.
Bravo! Very well done.
A Legacy of Whining (2016)
A joy to watch...
A not so bad fictional comedy about two old high school chums who get together after a period of three decades. They both have completely opposite mindsets and do not always agree on everything but their genuine and loyal friendship is what holds their story to the end. It's quirky, sometimes sad, and funny (at times). Overall, I found it to be a joy to watch on a cold and snowy afternoon.
The View from Here (2017)
Give it a chance
Yes. The Film is an Independent piece of work that does not compare to the big Hollywood budget films in it's genre but it definitely has a lot of heart. The overall photography was pretty well done and the story too. The actors could have been better. It seems like they struggled with there performances many times here and there. I thought that the direction was great minus the acting which was ok. I actually enjoyed it. It wasn't that bad as others mention online. Plus, it's an Indie Film so don't expect sold out box office results. It's more for those who appreciate these type of films and enjoys watching them and supporting the creators of such works. I'd say watch it for yourselve first, then make your OWN judgment.
Repatriation (2017)
A Film with a lot of heart that leaves you emotionally attached...
An visually amazing Film with a lot of heart that leaves you emotionally attached from the beginning all the way to the end. It shows a realistic and truthful glimpse into the lives of our US soldiers and the personal hardships they go through once they return back home. I truly enjoyed it and recommend watching it. Nicely done.
