Nobody (2021)
Came in here blind
Gotta be honest, I clicked this movie on Netflix without any idea what I'm about to get into but got hooked almost instantly, the only thing I got going on is that it does have high imdb ratings which is a nice place to start, the intro was typical wrong guy at the wrong place then whole damn thing took a turn, and what a thrill ride it was. Those subtle humor and inside jokes they have, it makes you want for more, I'm literally craving for a Nobody 2 when the credit starts to roll, this movie barely scratched the surface in terms of character development and world building. Would totally recommend this movie for anything looking for something fun and action packed.
The Peripheral (2022)
Pretty Interesting
Just got an Amazon FireTV for Christmas and decided to give it a try. Played this series out on a whim as something to watch and fall asleep to but ended up staying up late coz this is freaking awesome. I would have binged watch the whole season if it wasn't for the fact that I have work the following day and need to be up early. The premise is solid and interesting enough to keep you craving for more. Story phasing is ok, not too fast but also not too slow. Just enough to keep the mystery alive and plot twist/story reveals interesting. Pretty sure we're gonna binge watch the rest of season 1 the weekend then be depressed in the fact that I need to wait for another year or so in order to watch the next season.
Crown Vic (2019)
Solid Slow Burn
Just decided to watch the film out of a whim. I'm not really a slow burn movie fan but this movie is pretty solid. The movie starts very slow but as the movie progresses, you can see the development of each character and by the time you get to the end, it takes you full circle.
Paradise Hills (2019)
30 Minute Short with 1 hour filler
My wife and I decided to watch the movie randomly, we haven't seen the trailer too, just decided to give this one a go. Thought it was gonna be somewhat good considering the cast but sadly it's a total waste of time. The first scene was ok, I was mildy intrigued coz the fashion and style was somewhat hunger games-type avant garde but when it came to the "two months earlier", the movie just went downhill from there, at first it though "ok, some flash back scenes" but noooo, the whole movie takes place on that "two months earlier" part.
The movie was only about an hour and a half but the scenes felt like it took forever to end. It's long and boring. You can just watch the first 15 mines then skip about 45 minutes or so and you won't even miss a thing. It's a 30 minute short with an hour of fillers, my wife gave up after 20 minutes and decided to sleep coz nothing was literally happening. I decided to stay just for the sake of finishing it
Also, the big reveal wasn't that much of a "big reveal", more like a meh. Also wtf is with Milla Jovovich's character? Her true "identity" doesn't freaking make sense! Imagine watching Harry Potter then suddenly an Avengers visits Hogwarts. It's like the writers and the director can't freaking decide what genre this movie will be in so they decided to include everything. Sci-fi, mystery, thriller, supernatural, slow-burner(too slow if you ask me), horror, drama, romance, steam punk. You name it, you could find it in the movie.
It could have been a great movie but the script and poor story telling killed it for me. Such a waste of talent and opportunity.
Game of Thrones: The Last of the Starks (2019)
A whole season cramped into one episode
It like everyone got Son Goku's teleporting power. It took Arya several episodes to reach the Twins from King's Landing but only took Dany a few seconds to reach King's Landing from Winterfell. And don't get me started on those off cam reveals. Like wtf? It's like watching a reaction video but cutting the reaction itself. If Episode 3 is the Rise of the Plot Armor, then this is the Revenge of the Rushed
The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018)
Irritatingly Stupid
Decided to watch this from Netflix, did not know what to expect but decided to just stop watching almost halfway through the film instead of wasting my time by finishing it. I don't know if they intended it to be a parody since almost all of the horror films cliché was in this movie.
Hear something wierd after breaking into someone's place? Say "hello" instead of leaving the place
See a guy wearing a butcher's mask outside the house after discovering a dead body? Shout "leave before I shoot" instead of just shooting the guy or at least not announce that you have a gun.
See the killer stabbing your sister? Point the gun and tell the killer to leave her sister alone instead of emptying the clip of the mothrfcker.
Honestly, it's like the protagonist is purposefully choosing the wrong choices. Trump's speeches have more sense than this movie
