A rare perfect ending
15 August 2023
Truly, when I tell you I started this show four years ago as a joke. I didn't necessarily think it'd be a hate watch, but my expectations were low because I am in the generation of the original movie series. The last four years, they've provided more character arcs and development, more thoughtful and intentional writing, and more talent than most teen shows have in the last decade. Seriously when you think of great teen shows, you're most stuck in the 90s to 2010s, but HSMTMTS does the genre justice. The laughs the cries and THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT. The acting really shone through in this episode.

I actually liked the end
4 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A lot of ppl are hating on this movie cause of the ending but I'd argue it's the only ending that actually makes sense cause it's an endless loop. One could ask how would her future self have that knowledge but she already lived it, right? Either way, the ending is not what made this movie a 6 for me. What made it a 6 came before that.

I thought a lot of the main character's choices weren't smart. But it was an entertaining movie, especially in the first half. Once you find out the girl from the 90s' character, the film loses a little mystery and therefore became a much more straightforward film.

Wow this was bad
14 October 2022
The climax takes place all through Instagram stories...I think that says enough already but I have to add more characters.

The English rap (sorry if this is this dude's real profession) was so cringy like so bad. I had to skip through almost all the music from the second hand embarrassment.

The main characters are good looking espc side by side but have no chemistry. No one was really likable. You don't ship the main couple ever. You learn nothing about the fiance which was arguably the more interesting relationship once you learn why they felt the need to get engaged in the first place.

They don't resolve the father's depression, the best friend's betrayal, the main character's surf career.

Literally what was the point of this movie??? I watched this to freshen up my French and what a waste.

A shakespearien k drama
10 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I typically don't enjoy k dramas that base their whole plot on misunderstandings, but this one was very shakespearien in the way the story unfolds. I felt like I was watching Romeo and Juliet or Midsummers night dream where characters are running in circles, killing people, sleeping with people, not knowing what they don't know.

Unfortunately, unlike the great western classics, these writers were unable to give fully fleshed motives to their villains. They were building the brother up to be the main villain, but chickened out. Why did the brother stab him?? That evil family being the villain is gratuitous. Why do I care about them? What real connection do they have to our main characters? They should have been sub villains. This ending felt incomplete and almost ruins what would have otherwise been a well acted, well written show. Still, I'd encourage ppl to watch it if they haven't yet.

"You left me on the night we first met" - chills
23 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
That was a darn good twist(s). This movie went from a crime thriller to a ghost story to almost a mythological fantasy in an effortless manner. This movie was more fun (and scarier) than I expected it to be. I haven't seen such a unique movie in so long. Like seriously how has no one thought of this concept yet? That SPOILER Death (Nothing) would be a jealous, possessive, God seeking methods to return his object back to him. That this would not just be a movie about a woman discovering her husband was a serial killer but about a husband trying to confuse Death and save his wife from his clutches. The movie literally gives you the answer multiple times and I still didn't know where it was going. It never felt lost though or out of the directors hand. There may have been some leftover questions. Or some character choices that I wouldnt have made, but it's all made up for by this unique, new storyline. I haven't had an original viewing experience in so long and this did it for me. Idk why the reviews are so low cause I LOVED THIS MOVIE.

Must-see TV

Shows like this remind you of how beautiful storytelling can be. They handled this show so delicately, so purposefully, it was near perfect. It was funny and sad and thrilling and cool. I absolutely love this show. Everyone should watch it.

Guillermo misses on this one
18 April 2022
Although Tom Hiddleston carries a million words in his eyes alone, there was a lack of chemistry between Tom and Mia and Tom and Jessica. I believe this could have been corrected if they spent less time on the unscary ghosts and more time building either two relationships. Because of this, I couldn't understand many of their character choices. (Emphasis on the ghosts looking dumb, this was not a horror movie at all)

Also, Mia's character was written to be smart, intelligent, independent, but as the film progresses she just becomes stupider and stupider. None of her actions made sense. I almost felt like it was an insult to women at a point. Why was she so stupid??? When she started out so smart, too?? I would blame either the writing or the directing, but they were both done by the same person!

Simple but Enjoyable
16 April 2022
Literally good movie to have on in the background or for a light watch in the middle of the day. The main actress did a great job. Her character was very intelligent and they build up her traits very well. I was genuinely surprised at certain twists towards the end. Had a beginning middle and end. Good film.

Good for a "free" movie
16 April 2022
This is a pretty solid movie. Not great but definitely not terrible. Watch an actual bad movie and then watch this and you'll think this was amazing.

This was a well told story. Everything that happens makes sense. Every motivation makes sense, and you can sense it building to the finale. I laughed a couple times.

Alison Brie is the only good part
16 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Oooh I have lots to say. 1. They just stuck Lip from shameless in this movie but with none of the chat her development that he gets in the series. It doesn't make sense. He's exactly like Lip, but he's more impulsive and less intelligent. His motives may make sense if he was Lip but he's not he's someone else. Have him act like someone else! 2. If you're going to play on racism, please have the middle eastern girl actually look like she could be racially profiled. And as a POC, this is what happens when you vacation with only white ppl. And also have the racist guy actually do something offensively racist. Don't let the woman claiming racism be so mean just in general. 3. What was the point?? We learn who the killer is before everyone gets killed but then we learn nothing else about him at all. What are his motives? Why do we care who dies (expect Alison Brie)? Why does Alison Brie deserve to die anyway? I have so much to say but this was POINTLESS.

New, Original, and Accurate
4 March 2022
Now this is Batman. Without having to do another tired flashback scene to Bruce's hero (or villain) origin story, we get to see the early days of the Bat as he struggles with his identity as vigilante and millionaire. This film had many feels, sometimes horror sometimes buddy cop film, but it didn't feel disjointed. It had three complete sections the way a story should. The acting was incredible from the cast. And most importantly they depicted the psychology of Bruce Wayne as Batman in an original, entertaining way. The three hour run time worried me at first but they maintained the pace and the movie flew by. I loved this movie. And rob makes one of the swaggiest heroes yet.

Will make you feel extra single
12 February 2022
So cute! So sexy! So fun! I wish this was a TV show just so I could see more of the main leads together. This is a very fun and light movie just in time for Valentine's Day. Though I wished we saw more of their non sexual chemistry (in addition to the sexual chemistry), this movie was way better than I expected and thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommend but remember it's NSFW.

Not knowing who to root for is what makes this fun
5 February 2022
This drama is unlike any other. They managed to make a relationship suspenseful, which is so interesting. The side characters are well fleshed out, and feel like valid adversaries to the main couple in various aspects of their life. Each character's motivations make sense and are explained in detail through back stories that never feel too long or over done. I'm sorry but if you don't like this drama, you're not thinking critically. There, I said it. Now, I am all for having a difference of opinion but a lot of the critique I hear about this show is the actual point of the show. I think if people viewed it as a thriller instead of a romance, they may have a better understanding of this drama.

A drama to rewatch again and again...if you can stomach it
5 February 2022
The creators of this show do such an amazing job of making the viewer empathize with the main character. You feel as disgusted as he feels, as frustrated as he feels, as tired as he feels. As life knocks him down, instead of making the viewer root for him to get back on his feet, they make the viewer want to tear down the world so that he doesn't have to struggle anymore. You really start to delve into madness with the character. Some of the best storytelling EVER. The villains make you want to hop in the shower and cleanse yourself. Like there should be a masterclass on it. I praise the writing, but the actors did their thing too. Lee dong Wook is always going to be amazing but the main character was so relatable. His facial expressions make you laugh just cause of how perfectly spot on they are. The ending does leave a lot to guess but I don't think that's a bad thing at all. I think this is a perfect drama if you're a fan of suspense.

Lee dong wook never disappoints
5 February 2022
Liked Squid Game and Strangers from Hell and though oh I could watch a drama with these two where they're enemies, that'd be cool? Well, this drama tricks you. Wi Ha Joon and Lee Dong Wook are presented as enemies in the trailer and the first few episodes but the show quickly develops the relationship into the most beautiful "brotherhood". This show made me cry at every corner and made me literally knee-slap-laugh. The action was great and energizing. If this was on Netflix it would've been #1, I'm sure. I loved the female characters, from the ex girlfriend to the villain to the grandmother, all of them were so well written and likable. I loved the entire cast. Lee Dong Wook ofc is a well trusted actor but Wi Ha Joon really shines here as well, which again is impressive when you pit him against such a great actor. So impressed with this show!

A slice of life drama with no life in it
5 February 2022
I watched this show from start to finish as it was airing to keep up with the trends. I enjoy Twitter discourse on kdrama tv shows and this one was getting a lot of buzz. However I frequently found myself having absolutely nothing to say at the end of each episode. To be fair, they did a great job evening the playing field after starting the show with characters who have already broken each other's hearts. It can be tough to rebuild a relationship when the audience already is biased towards one partner. However, the pairing wasn't my problem. These two are great together (though I preferred them both in the Witch) and are fun enough. But all the side characters could've been removed and the story would be no different. All the characters besides the main couple had no life and no understandable motivations. I didn't even care for how any of their storylines wrapped up in the last episode cause I was just happy it was over. I like slice of life dramas but every character should be fleshed out as much as the main ones. It was boring to be frank. I don't see the hype. I really feel like I'm missing something that people find special about this drama.

On the edge of your seat
5 February 2022
Such great action and suspense! I absolutely loved how nail biting, exciting and fast paced the show was. I wrote that this show is so stressful that it distracts you from a lot of the character writing issues. I had previously written how the teenagers and adults alike frequently made such selfish choices that it felt unbelievable. I frequently was yelling at the screen wondering why would you do that in a literal life or death zombie apocalypse situation??? Like their choices just didn't seem realistic for this high stake scenario. But then I learned more about the sewol ferry accident and the depressing truth is that the choices of the adults accurately reflect reality. May those left behind Rest In Peace and I commend the show for touching on such a series topic.

This is a very specific sense of humour. I think it should've been clearly advertised as a comedy cause I feel like people aren't understanding that this is a parody. It has some really hilarious moments if you're looking at it through the lens of how ridiculous everything is.

Luce (I) (2019)
6/10
Asked great questions but had no answers
6 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm fine with just creating art to poke questions, but at some point there needs to be answers. The first half made me so excited and then it just ends. The movie just ends with no resolution.

SPOILERS BELOW Luce: the theme of his name being erased, being changed to fit the "American" mouth is interesting. Why do white people feel the need to change black names into something easier for them? But the didn't even say what his original name was...he didn't even reclaim his name...he didn't even really express how that could've been painful.

His speech: they build up to a speech the whole movie. The first speech was supposed to be surface level but the second speech was supposed to be more "him". We're building to a big reveal, something scary or something hidden. But then they cut the speech I'm proud to be an American: he's not American though and they grapple with that the whole movie, and what does this mean for the black Americans? It's not a fresh start because he's black. Because they keep saying in the movie that they don't get to make mistakes if you're black. So if you're black and American, no, you're not inherently grateful the way a white American may be grateful.

Stephanie: what was going on with her?? There were no answers sociopath: so many white kids go to their parents, don't even lie and say I SA'd someone and need a lawyer. And the parents defend them. And they get off free. And one could argue that Luce's behavior in the movie would be common for a privileged white kid. But then what?? Like what else is there?? Are we just supposed to be okay with him being a sociopath because a white kid would get away with it?

I could go on...it was set up so well and then just didn't want to commit to an actual opinion.

A lot of fun and relatable
19 November 2021
I feel like the ppl leaving reviews aren't actual college girls right now lmao they seem very angry at this show for it's diversity. Either way it's funny and the conversations they have in the show, I've had like 75% of them in real life. Of course parts can feel a little SNL sketchy and not like real people, but I think that's just how Mindy and other comedians write. I am excited for the rest of the season. Waiting for the season to finish to see if it'll be above a 7.

Why are ppl mad??
7 November 2021
Is it just a coincidence that the most diverse MCU film is also the lowest rated? Idk...I admit it is a little long, but is that a crime? This was a refreshing take on immortal characters, and frankly the MCU cannot keep telling the same three stories over and over. This was the first fourth wave MCU product that actually made me excited for what comes in the future. The twists actually surprised me. I do wish they'd break from the formal of inserting jokes in scenes that don't need them, but the cast really did feel like a family and every character's actions were understandable and justified. This film was good and certainly better than other products marvel has released. I truly don't get why ppl are so angry.

One of my fav episodes in the drama
26 August 2021
This show can be really sad. But as sad as it is, it can be equally funny. This episode really shines in its humor. The main couple's chemistry is undeniable and electric. The supporting cast are all amazing actors. I just loooove this episode. I love the flirting. I love the cinematography. I just love it.

This movie was made for people to rant about it
7 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's not the worst film in existence. There's just nothing of substance. But still I have some thoughts: Why do the ppl in this movie (particularly the first half) just not care at all about what's going on around them and take nothing seriously. And it's not in a sarcastic commentary way like Heathers or Scream. The "sexy" bathroom wash up scene was so out of place after having literally been chased by undead serial killers. Speaking of which, most of the time it feels as if the ghosts are right at their heels but other moments they can take so long to arrive. How is it that Sam magically happened to fall directly on the witches grave site? Also, this movie boring.
