M.O.M.: Mothers of Monsters (2020)
Interesting but it drags
This movie is a solid 5/10. It's not awful and it's not amazing. The acting was actually excellent. But neither of the characters are likeable and the entire movie is about them. Some of the scenes also go on for way too long, and I had to start skipping forward toward the end. Despite that, it mostly kept my attention, and the story itself is quite interesting. They could have left out the last video at the end, which the song left for his mom. He totally still deserved to die.
Mario (2018)
Heavy
This movie is seriously heavy. Honestly, I wanted a different ending. I want the writers to go back and rewrite the ending. But it also sticks with you, in a gut-wrenching kinda way.
Very well acted and written. Now please make a sequel so we know everything is okay for the characters afterward.
The Wife (2017)
Very good
Incredibly well acted. Give Glenn Close all the awards. Very well made all the way around. Reminded me of a French movie called Bleu starring Juliette Binoche. Look that one up if you haven't seen it.
La Mante (2017)
Predictable and Transphobic
If you have half a brain and have watched a few crime thrillers before, you will probably figure out who the killer is halfway through season 1. It was not a cleverly disguised mystery, even with the transphobic twist added to it. The show is dated 2017, but as soon as the characters discover the killer is a transgender woman (who murders and mutilates men for rejecting her, LOL!!), they begin referring to her as a "he". Also, The Mantis. She may be the most interesting character, but she is also a rip off of Hannibal Lecter. I feel like this whole show is inspired by Silence of the Lambs. Finally, I found the main character, Damien, to be a bit annoying. He is a jerk to his wife. He's dull and immature. But I kept watching to the end (except where I fast forwarded because ZZZZZzzzzzz) so, I'm giving it 4 Stars. Also, the acting was good. It was the writing that was weak.
Hereditary (2018)
Creepy AF (& it sticks with you)
This movie is a slow burn. At first I was bored, but curious. Then I was shocked. Then I wanted to know if my instincts about what was occurring were correct. Then I was worried about the characters, and totally sucked in. By the time it ended, I was thoroughly creeped out, still curious about aspects of the story, and wanting a sequel. Lol. Needless to say, Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne, and Ann Dowd turn in stellar performances. The film was incredibly well down from top to bottom, start to finish. Stick around in the beginning, it's worth it.
Killing Eve (2018)
Poor pacing and disappointing finale
Poor pacing and a cliffhanger ending ruin an otherwise entertaining show. Acting was excellent, characters were interesting, plot was fun. But the pacing was off and the lack of an ending left me very disappointed.
