Moving story about seasonal workers
29 January 2024
Saw this movie when it was viewed in Göteborg Film Festival 2024.

I really liked this moving movie. It's realistic and cold, but still warm in its telling of the story. For me it's those conflicting feelings this movie transmits. It shows tragedies behind the happy faces of people seasonal working in the tourism industries, but it also shows people taking care of each other's back and how important the love between them are. It's a story about loneliness, hopes and dreams that has had to be tucked away through out the years and what that does to you. The main character has a lot to deal with and still the show must go on, mustn't it?

Split feelings about this movie
28 January 2024
Saw this movie when it premiered in Göteborg film festival 2024.

This is a movie mainly about music, young love and complicated families. I get that the producer has invested a lot of energy and feelings into this movie but I'm quite split about it. On one hand it's nice music and a relatively interesting story and on the other hand it's a bit theatrical. I'm sure the main character is meant to be this way but it's a bit like the actor is on a stage, overly expressive. Also, he is a bit old for this role. The story is suited, even though it is quite simple, for the eighties and young people. The synth music is well chosen to work with the environment and the feeling that belongs to this time. There are a few a tad annoying anachronisms like the very old train that certainly doesn't belong to this time. It was probably difficult to find a suitable one, and then a museum train might be the best you can find, but it's still annoying.

A beautiful movie!
2 February 2023
I saw this movie as a part of the Gothenburg Film Festival this year, 2023.

A story about a man and his wife, and the new apprentice, in their sewing business. It's about craftsmanship and love, in so many ways. It's about leaning on each other and trusting one another.

For me this was a really beautiful and moving movie. So much love, caring and feelings between the beautiful characters. The story is moving and gives hope and understanding for what they all go thru - and cannot control. Really high quality acting and story telling that's just amazing to see and made us both laugh and cry. And the craftsmanship that is shown is very fascinating. Beautiful caftans, especially the blue one.

Too many stories in a story
16 June 2022
This is a kind of a pot with a story, that needed to be enriched, and then got so full that it didn't know which way to take. It made me really confused. Is it a story about a doctor, or about ghosts? Or perhaps just relationships... or violence? Or mental illness? There's so many stories in the story that really doesn't belong there, they just appear and then disappear without any resolution.

The views are fantastic and Icelandic storytelling is always interesting but here they get a bit lost. Too much effort, they should have made it more simple or focused on just a few threads.

A strong story in the middle of a conflict
3 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I saw Farha when it was viewed in the Gothenburg Film Festival.

Just as the young girl Farha gets a chance to change her life the conflict i Palestine changes everything. All alone she has to witness everything that happens around her from the inside of a locked pantry. A strong movie that shows brutality and a young girl that has to take care of herself in an unbelievable situation. A very well made movie about a tough subject.

Cold have been interesting but wasn't
1 February 2022
Saw this as a part of Gothenburg Film Festival, where it premiered.

I read the description and it sounded interesting and out of the ordinary, it made me curious. I havn't read the book it's based on, actually I havn't heard of it before. Anyway, I gave it a go and it certainly didn't live up to my hope of an interesting movie. I didn't feel that the actors where true and genuine. And the story... I felt there where nothing there, it's so thin and cropped. The best part was a song in the end of the movie. Otherwise just a waste of time. It cold have been better but that would have needed a better story and sad to say, better actors.

Great movie but I get a bit confused
19 April 2021
Katherine Lester didn't get a easy life. Forced into a complicated marriage, in a complicated time for women. They were taught to be submissive and do as they where told. Katherine therefore finds her own way to handle the life she's given.

I think it's a beautiful filmed movie. Every picture frame seem well calculated and planned. Therefore I do wonder how a cat that didn't exist in that time could find it's way into this movie. It's a cornish rex (not a devon rex that someone wrote in a review). That race was created using a cat born 1950... Why not use a race that actually existed when this movie was supposed to take place? This makes me confused and I have to give it a lower rate. I wanted the story to be more accurate in this detail, even though the cat is beautiful. But as a breeder this is a fail.

Bold and brave about a difficult industry.
14 March 2021
I saw this movie on Gothenburg Film Festival. It was quite haussed in the media because of the subject.

The story is shown thru the eyes of a young swedish woman, Bella, coming from a small town and now seeking fame, money and happiness in the american porn industry. It's a place where the men make the rules and Bella gets caught up in her search for fame. Where's her limits? What's she prepared to do?

It is a complicated and graphic story and I think the main character is played well by the actress. She is talented and perfect for the role, with her insecurities and youth. She has an innocent face that can carry this difficult subject through out the movie.

I felt sad watching this movie but that's because I think it's a sad world that's portrayed. The movie is important and well worth the time.

Funny, complicated Rita!
13 March 2021
We've binged the whole series the last couple of weeks. The whole family love the witty, funny, outrageous, kind and complicated Rita. The series has a good flow and is certainly worth the time. We think the first seasons are the best and the last two a bit slower. The final one from 2020 wasn't that great but still worth the time.

As a family that has live some years in Denmark and really love danish series this was perfect. Especially since a lot of this story is really "danish". A lot of laughs and awkwardness in a perfect combination.

Complicated life in a rough neighbourhood
28 January 2021
Yuri lives in the housing complex Gagarine. It's a run down place where people know each other and look out for one another. Yuri cares about the houses and does everything he can to make them liveable, for everyone. His mission is to save them from demolition.

This is a movie about a young boy fighting to keep his world. It's about being outside the society, love and friendship. It's also about dreams and finding purpose with your own solutions. I really enjoyed it.

A great series!
13 June 2019
I binge watched this series efter having heard so many great reviws. I loved the first seasons but the last two lost a bit of it's soul and it's sad. There are a couple of things I am a bit confused about. Why suddenly change perspective and show an old Sarah in one episode, looking back, and after that not again? Am also a bit confused about the finale. It feels like a true story but... it itsn't... or is it?

I would give the first 4 seasons 10 stars but the last two takes it down a notch.

10 for effort but otherwise... no.
9 December 2018
First I have to say this: the movie is a bit funny, but in a clumpsy way. The story is too much and they seem to have used everything to put together a simple comedy. They have stacked funny sketches, one after another, with some technical faults that were easy to spot... But, after all, a bad movie can be quite entertaining and this one was just that a lazy sunday evening.

A waste of time
17 November 2018
No, this wasn't funny. I really can't understand the reviews that say this is an amazing movie. It's filled with clichés and doesn't make me upset, nor laughing. It's just meh with a feeling that it's a movie with a clown theme. It could have been good if they took this important subject seriously.

A terrible mix
5 May 2018
The storyline is a mish-mash of serveral good series/movies. They've taken a little bit from here and a little bit from there, mixed it together and tada! Expected a great story.

No. It's not great, it's not even ok. I've seen the whole first season and it's not getting any better. The younger actors are at least ok but the script is such a load of crap. The other actors with minor roles are just plain awful.

This series is too bad and the story is too unbelievable because it's so thin. A strange part of the story where all the backflashes, as a part of the story, but they didn't helpt explain anything, they were just stupid. I hoped it would get better but no, it got worse. The first episode was almost ok but after that it was crap. I wanted to like it but no, no, no. Not possible.

Halt and Catch Fire (2014–2017)

A serie with so much love for the characters
3 April 2018
I've seen every episode of this fantastic serie (4 seasons). I just love it! Of course it has some episodes that aren't 100% great but as a serie I feel it's as good as it gets. My favorite thing is the enormous love for the characters and their life. They all change during the serie and in the end none is the same as in the beginning. A well written dialogue and the way the characters grow is quite unique in this time, where series like this one often doesn't get the chance to exist more than a season.

For me, Halt and Catch Fire is a serie about strong women, working in a field mainly controlled by men. They have to work hard to keep the companies alive. The male characters are great as well, with a lot of feelings and (both) having to deal with severe life changes. For me though, the women have the most interesting characters.

This is a serie based on a technical evolution but still, it often has a tiny role, far away from the characters life. It isn't easy for any of them, they are humans with faults and problems but still - they keep trying. Lovely serie that the whole family liked!

Like a longer episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm
25 August 2017
I do watch Curb Your Enthusiasm and think it's a funny but crazy show. When I found this movie on HBO I just read the plot, I didn't read any reviews. If I had done that I might have understood that this is a movie very much featuring Larry Davids mind and ideas. It is like a long episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm with a similar kind of plot. It's a movie about a very "special" person that always feels the need to say everything he thinks out loud and that always feels neglected. Just like Larry in Curb Your Enthusiasm.

It is a funny movie but I think some may think it's a bit too much like Curb Your Enthusiasm. It even has the same kind of music. The movie is entertaining but quirky!

Tour de Pharmacy (2017 TV Movie)

Funny and insightful
10 July 2017
I do look at a lot of cycling sports because my family is totally into it. I'm not taking part but when there's Tour de France or another competition on TV - it's on. So, I watch quite a lot of cycling sports.

This mockumentary is funny and it shows a lot of the cycling world's problems, in a crazy way. There are a lot of problems and it must have been easy to find stuff for this mockumentary. The cast is great with Orlando Bloom, Danny Glover, Kevin Bacon, Dolph Lundgren and many more. Lance Armstrong's role is spot on! It's only about 37 funny minutes but I don't think they could have made it longer. 37 funny minutes is enough! I give it 7 out of 10.

Orange Is the New Black (2013–2019)

A great series but not all the time
9 July 2017
When I started watching Orange is the new black I thought it was truly amazing. Funny story spiced with romance, crime and sadness. The first three seasons were great!

The fourth was, in my meaning, the worst so far. This is a series that me and my family watch together - my husband and our sons (17 + 20 years old). Until the third season we all liked it. It changed the fourth season when it was manly me that liked it.

Now we've seen the whole fifth season and we all liked it better then the fourth but I should say that I think they drove the story too far. It doesn't happen that much the last episodes so it turns a bit boring.

I like OITB but I hope they do something new in the fifth season. And that the series doesn't get caught in the loop "series that run too many seasons without any substance"...

Utter sadness...
21 June 2017
This is a movie about complete and utter sadness, but still so beautiful. It made me sad, it made me want to listen more to the music (I don't even like bluegrass) and it made me think about it afterwards.

It's a movie about a love story, a unbearable sorrow and life. Music guides us thru it all. Too sad but still very much a movie worth the time. Movies from Belgium never reaches my view but this one did, and I'm glad.
