Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017)
Great film, stupid ending
I liked this film. The ending is forced in my opinion because Kriti does not actually sacrifice anything. All sacrifices are made by Rajkumar Rao. And then he also has to forgive her in the end. There is a dowry angle, but the film does not give a proper message about the regressive practice.
Rajkumar Rao and Govind Namdev are awesome as usual. Kriti Kharbanda does what is required from her. The lady who plays her sister also played her character convincingly.
The music is also nice. I'm talking about Tu Ban Ja Gali Banaras Ki and Inteqam of course ;)
Overall 3.5/5 from me.
Shortcut: Disto Pan Nasto (2015)
Good try, but avoid
Vaibhav Tatvawadi tries. He has done a commendable job using the information he was provided, which I guess was not much.
Rohan Shrungarpure is loud and sometimes irritating.
If you're watching this movie to see how Sanskruti Balgude acts in her first film, don't bother. She's no more than a showpiece. You could cut her character out from the movie and it would still be the same.
Makhmali is a good song. Maula Maula is hummable.
The editing is pretty bad. Scenes are cut from the middle, people come and go, Sanskruti appears and disappears, blasts happen, people don't die, and nothing is explained. College people look like they have just graduated from Karan Johar's St. Teresa or whatever it was in SOTY.
If like me, you're watching this to see how Sanskruti acts in her first proper film, don't bother. She doesn't add or take away anything from the story.
I know we ought to encourage people from our industry, but this is not the kind of people I want to encourage. Shortcut is a half baked attempt to produce a modern, wacky film.
It's not good. Save your time and don't watch. You're going to be constantly thinking: What is he doing, where did he go, how did he escape, how did this happen, how did that happen, who was this person... And the sad part is that you never get the answers.
Phillauri (2017)
Flashbacks test your patience, the rest is pretty good.
This is a good movie, but it could have been better if the flashbacks weren't so lengthy. It drawls especially towards the second half. Phillauri has a crazy, goofy start with Shashi (Anushka Sharma) getting confused with the technology of the 21st Century. The makers could have added some more confusions and cut most of the flashback scenes to give it some speed. Worth a watch.
