Resident Evil (2022)
It's what you'd want
As a super fan of the Resident evil franchise this show honestly is a fun watch, take it for what it is. A lot of fanboys upset they don't get to see chris punch a boulder into lava.
The Black Phone (2021)
Mehh
Honestly, I have seen every single genre of horror that's humanly possible. I've seen extreme French films and some films that were banned for being "too graphic".
This movie right here is absolutely LIGHTWEIGHT in terms of what I've watched. The story itself is extremely interesting and the first half of the film is quite captivating (especially when it comes to character building.) but the second half towards the end is absolutely mundane and builds up to a climax that is predictable to say the least. I had extremely high hopes for this film when I initially went to go see it in theaters and I wasn't necessarily disappointed but I also wasn't satisfied. It's more of a rent at home or buy on dvd sorta movie for a Good Friday night snuggled up with someone.
Malignant (2021)
Take it for what it is
Here's the thing about Malignant.. it's definitely a movie to watch with your significant other and/or friends on a Friday-Saturday night. Not because it's super terrifying and none chilling but because it's a genuinely fun and intriguing movie despite. Be that as it may malignant does have some loose ends and scenes cut off abruptly, don't go into it expecting the same vibe as The Conjuring or Annabelle. Take it for what it is and enjoy the B-Horror movie magic.
Marianne (2019)
WHY NETFLIX WHY!?
Marianne is by far one of the best Netflix original titles i've watched in recent memory. The writing is well paced, the acting is amazing and each episode genuinely builds off the last one is such a way that makes the ending of season 1 so gratifyingly morbid. Why Netflix decided to cancel such a gem is absolutely beyond me but here's to hoping for some sort of revival.
The Forever Purge (2021)
Whet?
This honestly could've been a movie that they streamed on hbomax or something instead of making it a theatrical release.
